아버지의 양육경험과 심리적 안녕감이 자녀에 대한 아버지의 양육태도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험 및 아버지 심리적 안녕감이 자녀에 대한 양육태도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 한편, 아버지의 심리적 안녕감이 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험과 자녀에 대한 양육태도의 관계에서 중재적 역할을 하는지 규명하는 것을 주목적으로 하였다. 또한 아버지 양육태도는 자녀의 성에 따라 차이가 있는지 확인하고자 하였다. 본 연구대상은 서울, 대구시에 위치한 3군데 초등학교 5, 6학년 남아 165명, 여아 205명과 그들의 아버지를 대상으로 질문지법을 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험과 자녀에 대한 아버지의 양육태도는 Epstein(1983)의 척도를 전현진(1996)이 수정·번안한 것으로 측정하였고, 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 Ryff와 Keyes(1995)가 제작한 PWB(The Psychological Well Being Scale)를 박서영(2007)이 수정·보완한 척도를 사용하였다. 또한 사회경제적 지위는 아버지의 교육수준과 가정 월 소득으로 구분하여 사용하였다. 변인들 간의 상관관계 및 척도의 신뢰도를 보기 위해 Cronbach's α를 산출하였으며, 연구문제 분석을 위해 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험과 심리적 안녕감이 자녀에 대한 아버지의 양육태도에 미치는 영향 및 심리적 안녕감의 중재적 역할을 살펴본 결과, 아버지의 독립성조장 양육의 세대간 전이는 나타나지 않았지만 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 자녀에 대한 독립성조장 양육태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자녀에 대한 독립성조장 양육태도와 아버지의 원가족에서 독립성조장 양육경험간의 관계가 아버지 심리적 안녕감의 중재적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 아버지의 심리적 안녕감이 높은 경우 원가족에서 경험한 양육태도에 상관없이 현재 자녀에게 독립성조장 양육태도를 보였다. 반면에 아버지 심리적 안녕감이 낮으면서 원가족에서 과잉보호 양육을 경험한 아버지는 자녀에게 독립성조장 양육태도를 가장 적게 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 아버지의 원가족에서 수용적 양육경험과 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 자녀에 대한 수용적 양육태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 자녀에 대한 수용적 양육태도와 아버지의 원가족에서 수용적 양육경험과의 관계에서 아버지 심리적 안녕감의 중재적 역할을 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험과 심리적 안녕감이 자녀의 성에 따른 아버지의 양육태도에 미치는 영향 및 심리적 안녕감의 중재적 역할을 살펴본 결과, 남아에 대한 아버지의 독립성조장 양육태도에 아버지의 원가족에서 독립성조장 양육경험과 심리적 안녕감이 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 남아에 대한 아버지의 수용적 양육태도에서 아버지의 원가족에서 수용적 양육경험은 영향을 미치지 않았지만, 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 남아에 대한 수용적 양육태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 여아에 대한 아버지의 독립성조장 양육태도에서는 아버지의 원가족에서 독립성조장 양육경험의 영향은 미치지 않았지만, 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 여아에 대한 아버지의 수용적 양육태도에서 아버지의 원가족에서 수용적 양육경험과 아버지의 심리적 안녕감은 여아에 대한 수용적 양육태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험 및 아버지의 심리적 안녕감이 자녀에 대한 양육태도에 미치는 영향과 더불어 아버지의 양육태도 세대간 전이에 있어서 아버지의 심리적 안녕감이 중재역할을 한다고 할 수 있다. 또한 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험 및 심리적 안녕감이 자녀의 성에 따라 양육태도에 미치는 영향은 다르다는 것을 규명하였다. 본 연구는 아버지 심리적 안녕감에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정에서 아버지의 양육태도, 원가족에서 양육경험과 심리적 안녕감간의 관계를 살펴보고, 아버지의 원가족에서 양육경험 및 심리적 안녕감이 자녀의 성에 따른 아버지의 양육태도 차이를 밝혔다는데 의의가 있다.;The main purpose of this study is to explore the moderating effects of fathers' current psychological well-being in the relationships between fathers' experienced parenting from the family of origin and their parenting attitudes ('acceptance' & 'encouraging independence) to sons and daughters. The subjects were 370 fifth- and sixth-grade children and their fathers from elementary schools in Seoul and Daegu. Questionnaires such as experienced parenting and current psychological well-being reported by fathers and fathers' parenting attitudes reported by their child were used for data collection. Pearson correlational analyses and hierarchical multiple regression analyses were carried out for data analyses. The major results of this study were summarized as follows: First, father's 'acceptance' attitude to their child was predicted by fathers' experienced 'acceptance' parenting from the family of origin and their psychological well-being. Further, father's psychological well-being played a moderate role in the relationship between fathers' experienced 'encouraging independence' parenting from the family of origin and their 'independent encouraging' attitude to their child. Second, the effects of fathers' experienced parenting and psychological well-being on the father's parenting attitudes varied depending on their child sex. Specifically, fathers' psychological well-being was a significant variable in predicting fathers' 'acceptance' parenting to sons, whereas it was an important variable in predicting fathers' 'independent encouraging' parenting for daughters. Fathers' psychological well-being moderated the relationship between experienced 'acceptance' parenting and predicted fathers' 'acceptance' parenting to their daughter. The results of this study imply the importance of fathers' upbringing experiences from the family of origin and fathers' current psychological well-being in predicting fathers' parenting to their children.
