식물 패턴의 텍스타일 디자인 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 식물 패턴을 모티프로 침구류 용도를 위한 텍스타일 디자인 연구이다. 근대 이후 과학기술을 주도한 서구의 문명은 자연을 개척하면서 지금의 물질문명을 이루었지만, 자연은 훼손되어 생태계 불균형과 같은 부정적 영향이 야기되었다. 이러한 환경적 위기를 직면하면서 안정을 취하고자하는 인간의 본성에 따라 자연에 대한 현대인들의 관심이 꾸준히 증가되어 오고 있다. 현대인들은 황폐해진 환경 안에서 자연의 따뜻함과 안락함을 그리워하며 자연의 품으로 돌아가고자, 자연을 동경 및 이상향의 대상으로 여기게 되었다. 우리가 거주하는 실내 공간 중 침실은 주로 휴식과 수면을 취하는 장소로 현대인들에게 무엇보다 신체적 안락함과 정신적 긴장 완화를 주는 공간이다. 침구류는 침대 커버, 매트리스 커버, 베개 커버 등 침실에 사용되는 텍스타일로 구성되어 있으며, 침구류의 다양한 색상과 패턴은 자연에 대한 주거자의 심미적, 정서적 요구를 만족시켜 줄 수 있는 중요한 구성요소이다. 이에 본 연구자는 식물 패턴을 활용하여 자연으로부터의 생명력과 자유, 풍요로움을 표현한 침구류 텍스타일 디자인을 연구하였다. 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 첫째, 이론적 배경으로 식물 이미지의 상징성에 대해 단행본과 관련 논문 등을 통하여 고찰하였다. 식물 패턴을 활용하여 독특한 공간감을 표현한 중첩 효과의 텍스타일 디자인은 최근 5년 이내의 침구류 코디네이션 사례를 토대로 연구하였다. 식물을 패턴화 한 텍스타일 디자인으로는 산업혁명을 기점으로 생활 속에서의 공예를 예술로 승화시킨 윌리엄 모리스와 미술공예운동에 한하여 연구하였다. 둘째, 침구류의 개념과 소재 및 식물 패턴 디자인의 침구류 텍스타일을 통하여 침구류의 패턴 디자인과 코디네이션을 고찰하였다. 셋째, 위 이론적 연구를 바탕으로 총 15개의 디자인을 하였고, 이들은 3가지 테마로 분류된다. 테마 1은 “초록의 생기, 흩날리다(Theme 1: Fluttering Vital Green)“, 테마 2는 “민들레 산들바람, 흩날리다(Fluttering Dandelion Breeze)“이고 테마 3은 “가을 빛, 흩날리다(Fluttering Autumnal Tints)”이다. 각 테마마다 5개의 디자인을 코디네이팅하였고, 총 15작품의 텍스타일 디자인을 완성하였다. 넷째, 디자인은 포토샵과 일러스트레이터를 이용하였고 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅(DTP) 기법으로 각 디자인마다 총 3마씩 프린팅하였다. 이상과 같이 본 연구자는 침구류를 중심으로 한 식물 패턴의 텍스타일 디자인 연구를 제안함으로서, 현대인의 자연 회귀 감성을 충족시킬 수 있는 텍스타일 제작에 의의를 두었다.;This study is based in a textile design research for bedclothing with motifs using of the plants patterns. The western civilization led science technology since early modern times and made current material civilization by developing nature; however, damaged nature caused negative effect such as imbalance in eco-systems. Facing this environmental crisis, the contemporary man's interest in nature has increased stably according to human nature to rest. They yearn for the warmth and comfort of nature in devastated environment and they took nature as a target of longing and utopia so as to return to the bosom of nature. In our dwelling residential space, a bedroom is a place for mainly rest and sleep and it gives physical comfortableness and mental ease of tension to contemporary men. Bedclothing consist of bed cover, mattress cover and pillow cover which are textile used for bedroom, and various colors and patterns of bedclothing are important component which can satisfy esthetic and emotional demands of residents for nature. Therefore, I studied domestics textile design which expresses vitality, freedom and abundance from nature by using of the plants patterns. This study has been performed as below. Firstly, I have studied the symbolism of the plants image as for theoretical background through literature reviews, periodicals, related articles and advanced research. As for layered effect textile design which expresses unique space sense by using of the plants patterns, I researched in the domestics textile within recent 5 years. As for textile design with patterned plants, I researched William Morris who restored craft to fine art level in living starting from the Industrial Revolution and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Secondly, I have examined the concept and material of bedclothing and studied the examples of bedclothing using the plants patterns design. Thirdly, based on theoretical study above, I have made total 15 designs and they are categorized into three themes, Theme 1 is “Fluttering Vital Green”, theme 2 is “Fluttering Dandelion Breeze”, and theme 3 is “Fluttering Autumnal Tints”. I proposed 5 coordinating design for each theme, and completed total 15 works of textile design. Fourthly, I made use of Photoshop and Illustrator program for textile design and printed out 3yd length for each design with digital printing technique. As above, I have suggested textile design using plants patterns focused on domestics in order to make textile which can satisfy contemporary man's sentiment to return to nature.
