인체 골격의 X-ray 투사 이미지를 활용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

인체는 고대 그리스 시대부터 현재까지 그 형태를 재현하려는 노력으로써 예술과 문화의 중요한 표현 소재로 선택되어져 왔다. 인간의 모든 문명, 사회, 문화, 종교, 철학, 예술 등은 결국 인간을 바탕으로 발생하며, 이와 함께 인체의 예술적 표현은 각 시대의 사회, 문화, 정치, 경제 등 시대적 상황에 따라 다양한 의미와 형태로 표현되어 왔다. 이는 인간의 실체인 인체가 있어 가능한 것이기에 인체가 가지는 의미는 매우 중요하다. 또한 의상은 인간의 인체를 감싸주는 제2의 피부로서의 역할을 하며 인류가 존재하면서부터 그 역사는 같이 발전하고 있다. 현 시대에서 의상은 그 시대적 상황에 따른 필연적 산물이라고 할 수 있으며, 그 전개양상은 사회적, 문화적, 역사적 요건과의 상호연관성에서 많은 영향을 받으며 변화되고 진행되어 오고 있다. 패션은 인체 위에 한시대의 이상적인 형상을 표현하는 예술이라 할 수 있는데, 현재의 패션은 현대사회의 디지털화 환경으로 인간, 인체에 대한 중요성을 상실한 현대인의 시대적 상황에 항의의 표현으로 인체의 형태와 개념을 해부학적 측면으로 재해석하여 독특한 기법과 새로운 시각적 표현으로 디자인이 등장하고 있다. 해부학 자료에서 보면 골격구조나 근육 다양한 선과 형태들은 조형 표현과 디자인의 요소가 된다. 본 연구에서는 인체 골격의 이미지는 가장 인간적이면서도 인체의 근본이 되는 것이라고 생각하고 인체해부학적인 측면에서 기본 구조인 골격을 그래픽적 활용이 가능한 X-ray 이미지를 디자인 모티브로 활용하고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 인체의 근본인 골격의 이미지를 X-ray로 형상화하여 디자인에 응용하고 형상화된 인체 골격의 이미지를 소재와 DTP기법의 활용을 통해 독창적인 패션디자인을 제시하는데 있다. 연구를 위한 방법으로는 국내외 문헌적 연구와 실증적 고찰에 의한 방법을 토대로 첫째, 인체 해부학의 역사적 고찰과 골격의 조형적 특징에 대해 살펴보고, 국내외 사진자료 전자문헌 등을 통해 인체의 예술적 조형표현을 알아보았다. 둘째, X-ray 이미지를 활용함에 앞서, 그에 따른 조형적 특성을 살펴보았다. 셋째, 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있는 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅을 작품제작의 기법으로 활용하였으며 그에 따른 이론적 배경으로 DTP의 개념과 특징, 작업과정을 분석하고 DTP를 응용한 의상디자인 사례들을 컬렉션을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 작품제작에 있어서 인체 고유의 실루엣을 고려하여 제작한 디자인과 ‘골격’의 형태를 왜곡시키지 않고 표현하고자 Computer Graphic Tool(PhotosopCS)을 활용하여 재구성한 X-RAY 이미지를 섬세하고 세밀한 표현이 가능한 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅(Digital Textile Printing)기법으로 강렬한 이미지의 원단을 제작하고 디자인에 적용하여 인체를 투영한 느낌을 강조하고 실루엣과 디테일적인 면에서는 ‘골격’의 형태를 실질적으로 표현하여 독창성 있는 디자인을 전개하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인체 골격의 사실적 이미지를 의상 디자인에 표현함으로써 창의적이며 독특하고 강한 시각적 효과의 패션디자인의 결과물을 도출할 수 있었다. 둘째, 인체 표현에 있어 잘 표현되어지지 않았던 인체 기본구조인 골격의 X-ray 이미지를 본 연구의 모티브로 사용함으로써 그래픽적 성격이 패션 디자인 모티브로 활용 가능성이 크다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 인체의 중심이 되는 골격의 형태를 강조하고자 인체를 투영한 X-ray 이미지를 포토샵 작업을 통해 재구성하여 적용함으로써 단순한 실루엣에서 강렬한 패턴과 색감이 돋보이는 개성 있는 디자인을 전개할 수 있었다. 넷째, 작품의 표현기법으로 활용한 DTP는 사실적 골격 표현에 의한 시각적 효과를 나타내었고 특수한 기능성 소재와 고급스러운 실크에 프린팅 함으로써 골격 그대로의 세밀한 형태와 독특한 색감을 표출시킬 수 있었다. 이와 같이 인체 골격의 다양한 조형성을 재발견하고 X-ray 투사 이미지의 조형적 특성을 작품에 반영함으로써 인체의 몸속에 숨겨진 골격의 고정 개념을 깨고, 인체에 입혀진 골격 이미지도 조형 예술로서의 미적 가치 가질 수 있고 재해석 된 의미를 부여 할 수 있었다. 또한, 디자인적 요소로써 X-ray 전체 이미지를 실사 프린팅하여 인체 이미지와 잘 부합되는 이미지를 구현하여 독창적이고 개성적인 패턴의 패션 디자인을 전개할 수 있었다.;From the time of ancient Greece to the present, the human body has been opted as an important medium of expression as an effort to represent the form. The entire human civilization, society, culture, religion, philosophy, and the arts, were ultimately generated based on human beings. The artistic expression of human body was also realized in a variety of meanings and forms depending on the circumstances of each era such as the society, culture, politics, and economy. Such artistic realization was possible because of the human body, which is why the significance of the human body is extremely important. In addition, clothes, serving the role of protecting the human body as the second skin, developed alongside humanity; the history of clothing is as long as the existence of humanity. In this day and age, clothing is regarded as an inevitable product of the time. The development phase of clothing have changed and progressed greatly influenced by the interconnectedness among social, cultural, and historical requirements. Fashion is an art form that expresses ideal forms of the time on the human body. In the current fashion, designs of unique techniques and new visual expressions reinterpreting the human body and concept in anatomical perspective are emerging as expressions of protest against the circumstances of contemporary people, who have lost the importance of human being and human body due to digitized environment. According to relevant literatures discussing anatomy, skeletal structures or the various lines and shapes of the muscle are viewed as formative expressions and elements of design. In this study, the image of the human skeleton is viewed as the most human element and the essence of human body. With a human anatomical point of view, the study attempts to utilize the X-ray image of human skeleton, which enables graphic manipulation, as the design motif. Hence, the purpose of this study is to project the image of the skeleton, the basis of human body, through X-ray and apply that in designs, and present a unique fashion design of the projected human skeleton image utilizing various materials and DPT technique. As for the research method of the study, the following steps were taken based on domestic and foreign literature review empirical analysis. First, the history of human anatomy and the formative characteristics of the human skeleton were reviewed. Also, artistic formative expressions of the human body were examined through domestic and foreign electronic literatures including photography data. Second, the formative attributes of utilizing X-ray images were examined prior to the application. Third, digital textile printing technique, which is capable of producing added value, was adopted as the production method. As a theoretical background of this approach, an analysis of the concept, features, and work flow of DTP was conducted and fashion design cases utilizing DTP was examined focusing on presentations of collections. In terms of production, in order to present a design that takes into account the unique silhouette of the human body without distorting the shape of the human skeleton, X-ray images that were reconstituted using a computer graphic tool (Photoshop CS) were reproduced into the fabric as intense images through the digital Textile Printing technique that is capable of expressing fine and delicate details, and applied into the design. An original design was developed that emphasized the impression of the human body being projected and the shape of the human skeleton realistically expressed in terms of silhouette and detail. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, by expressing the realistic image of the human skeleton into fashion design, it was possible to produce a fashion design product that is original, unique, and has strong visual effects. Second, the study confirmed that the application possibilities of graphic characteristics as design motifs are great as evidenced in the current case of using the X-ray image of the human skeleton, that is, the basic structure of the human body, which has not been a popular expressive medium of the human body. Third, by applying the X-ray images of the projected human body that were reconstituted with Photoshop so as to emphasize the shape of the skeleton which serves as the center of the human body, it was possible to develop a unique design that shows intense pattern and color scheme even in a simple silhouette. Fourth, the DTP adopted as an expressive technique displayed visual effects of realistic skeleton expression. Also, the use of special functional material and luxurious silk as the base fabric for printing make it possible to display the detail shape of the skeleton and a unique color scheme. The fashion design in this study broke away from the fixed notion of the human skeleton hidden within the human body and provided a reinterpreted meaning of the skeleton image adorning the human body as an element of formative art with aesthetic value by rediscovering various formative attributes of the human body and applying the formative features of the X-ray projected images on the product. In addition, the study developed a fashion design with an original and unique pattern by materializing images that are compatible with the human body image through actual image printing of the entire X-ray image as design elements.
