초등학교 교육 주체간의 커뮤니케이션 활성화를 위한 연구

Abstract

Cooperative relationship between teachers and parents is essential for effective elementary school education. Compared to its importance, communication between major educating agents is not as active in reality. It is difficult for teachers to spend sufficient time on each student. Their relationships with parents cannot evolve beyond non-recurrent, formal, and fragmented conversations that are done through announcements, telephones, e-mails, or simple PTA meetings. After examining the development and distribution of personal media due to the recent evolution of mobile environments and communication methods, it became apparent that the accessibility of smartphones and various applications has opened a convenient environment for the communication between teachers and parents. This study suggests a smartphone application which allows teachers and parents to sustain complementary communication and overcome temporal and spatial constraints. First, a user research consisting of surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted on teachers and parents. This research revealed realistic communicative constraints, and difficulties caused by differences between one’s roles. Their persona scenario analysis presented common needs of teachers and parents which were derived in the application as class introduction, gallery, message boards, class schedule, schedule management functions. This study suggests these main features to teachers and parents though a smart phone application while also proposing a prototype design per scenario. Verification of the proposal was assessed by the design of the prototype; the concept of the application, provided functions, and GUI elements. The overall satisfaction and the inclination of future use were positive. This study on providing a smartphone application will improve and vitalize the communication between teachers and parents. There are some limitations to this study. Because this study focuses on smartphone users that reside in Seoul, results of this study cannot be applied to everyone. Differences in class sizes or levels of using mobile services can be major variables. Feature phone and touch phone users may need to be excluded as well. Therefore, a broader study may be required to accommodate a wider variety of users. In addition, practical possibilities and technical verification of the proposed application as well as its effectiveness in the actual mobile environment will need to be further investigated.;본 연구는 효과적인 초등학교 교육을 위해서는 교육 주체인 교사와 학부모 간의 협력적인 관계가 반드시 필요하다는 점에서 시작한다. 하지만 현실적인 교육 주체간의 커뮤니케이션 실태를 살펴보면 그 중요성에 비해 원활하지 못하였다. 교사는 근무 시간 중 충분한 시간을 가지고 개별 학생과의 시간을 갖기가 힘들었고, 학부모와의 관계에서도 알림장, 전화, 가정통신문, 어머니회, 이메일, 짧은 개별 면담과 같이 단편적인 소통으로 일회적이고 형식적이었다. 교사가 학부모에게 전달하는 정보 기록 자료로 일방향성이 강하다. 결국 교사와 학부모의 관계는 학생에 대해 서로 상이한 생각을 가지고 바라보게 되고 이러한 입장 차이는 정보 왜곡과 결핍으로 이어져 학교와 교사에 대한 불신으로 커지게 되어 사회적 문제가 되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 스마트폰이 제공하는 다양한 기능을 통해 시간적, 공간적 제약을 벗어나 교사와 학부모간의 지속적이고 상호보완적인 커뮤니케이션 수단으로 스마트폰 어플리케이션을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 온라인, 이메일, SMS 등에 머물렀던 예전의 교사와 학부모 간의 커뮤니케이션 방법을 개선하는데 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해 최근 모바일 환경 및 커뮤니케이션 방식의 진화로 인한 개인 미디어의 발전과 확산 현황을 살펴보았다. 스마트폰 확산과 더불어 일상생활에서 다양한 어플리케이션을 사용할 수 있는 환경이 조성되었기 때문에 커뮤니케이션 방법에도 더 나은 환경이 열렸다는 점을 시사해 볼 수 있었다. 그리고 사용자 연구로 교사와 학부모 모두에게 설문 조사와 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 분석 결과 커뮤니케이션에 대한 현실적인 제약의 어려움, 상호간의 입장 차이에 대한 어려움을 호소하고 있었다. 또한 이들의 페르소나(Persona) 시나리오 분석을 통해 수집된 정보 및 교사와 학부모의 공통된 니즈(Needs)를 파악하여 학급 소개 기능, 갤러리 기능, 게시판 기능, 시간표 기능, 일정관리 기능을 도출하였다. 앞서 도출된 주요기능을 교사와 학부모를 위한 스마트폰 어플리케이션을 통해 제안하였고, 상황별 시나리오에 대한 프로토타입 디자인을 적용하였다. 제안에 대한 검증은 프로토타입 디자인 평가로 진행하였다. 평가는 어플리케이션에 대한 컨셉 설명, 제공하는 기능, GUI 요소로 구성하였다. 그 결과 전반적인 만족도와 추후 사용 의사 여부에 대해서 긍정적으로 평가되었다. 따라서 본 스마트폰 어플리케이션 제안 연구는 기존의 교사와 학부모간의 커뮤니케이션 제약점을 개선하고 활성화 하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 예상된다. 물론 어플리케이션의 실용가능성 및 효과에 대해 기술적인 검증과 실제 모바일 환경 적용에 대한 연구가 더 논의되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구의 결과물이 초등학교 교육 주체간의 상이한 편견과 오해를 해소하고, 보다 장기적으로 적극적이고 활발한 커뮤니케이션을 전개하는데 긍정적으로 기여할 것이라 생각한다.
