부모의 심리적 통제와 남녀 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 및 자의식 정서가 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로 탐색

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to examine pathways from parental psychological control, adolescents' dysfunctional perfectionism, and self-conscious emotions to adolescents' depression of adolescent boys and girls. The subjects were 471 10th and 11th grade adolescents (212 boys and 259 girls) who were attending high schools in Seoul and Gyoung-gi Do. Data were collected via questionnaires rated by adolescents themselves and were analyzed by Structural Equation Model(SEM) using AMOS 16.0. The main results of this study were as follows: First, for girls, maternal psychological control showed a direct effect on depression, while, for boys, paternal and maternal psychological control didn't affect depression directly. Second, only for girls, maternal psychological control showed indirect effect on depression through dysfunctional perfectionism and self-conscious emotions. For boys, paternal psychological control had an effect on dysfunctional perfectionism, and dysfunctional perfectionism affected self-conscious emotions. Adolescents' self-conscious emotions, however, didn't affect depression. Third, for boys, paternal psychological control influenced depression indirectly through dysfunctional perfectionism, and for girls, maternal psychological control had an indirect effect on depression through dysfunctional perfectionism. Finally, paternal or maternal psychological control didn't affect depression through self-conscious emotions for both boys and girls. In conclusion, parental psychological control affected adolescents' depression both directly and indirectly through adolescents' dysfunctional perfectionism and self-conscious emotions, and there were significant differences in pathways between boys and girls. Considering this gender differences, intervention programs of adolescents' depression need to focus on differential aspects based on gender of adolescents. Especially, the findings that boys were significantly affected by paternal psychological control and girls were influenced by maternal psychological control supported the same-sex linkage hypothesis. In addition, adolescents' dysfunctional perfectionism was a major effect on adolescents' depression. This result confirmed that adolescents' intrapersonal characteristic, especially dysfunctional perfectionism, was an important variable leading to adolescents' depression.;본 연구의 목적은 부모의 심리적 통제와 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 및 자의식 정서가 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로를 남녀 청소년으로 나누어 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울시 및 수도권 소재 남자 고등학교와 여자 고등학교에 재학 중인 471명의 남녀 청소년을 대상으로 하여, 질문지법을 이용해 자료를 수집하였다. 부모의 심리적 통제는 Barber(1996)가 개발한 PCS-YSR(Psychological Control Scale-Youth Self-Report)을 조주연(2010)이 번안한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의는 Frost, Marten, Lahart 및 Rosenblate(1990)와 Hewitt와 Flett(1991)의 척도를 기초로 한 남궁혜정(2002)의 척도를 사용하였다. 또한, 청소년의 자의식 정서는 Tangney에 의해서 개발된 TOSCA(Test of Self-Conscious Affect)(1989), TOSCA-C(1990), TOSCA- Adol(1991)을 류설영(1998)이 번안한 척도를 사용하였으며, 청소년의 우울은 Radloff(1977)의 Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D)을 전겸구 ․ 최상진 ․ 양병창(2001)이 번안 ․ 수정한 통합적 한국판 CES-D 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 AMOS 16.0을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 우울에 영향을 미치는 직접 경로는 여자 청소년의 어머니와의 관계에서만 발견되었으며, 남자 청소년에게서는 나타나지 않았다. 즉, 여자 청소년은 어머니가 심리적 통제를 많이 할수록 우울을 더 많이 경험하였다. 둘째, 부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 및 자의식 정서를 통해 우울에 영향을 미치는 간접 경로는 여자 청소년의 어머니와의 관계에서만 발견되었다. 즉, 어머니의 심리적 통제가 높을수록 여자 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 성향이 높아져 수치심과 죄책감을 많이 경험하였으며, 결과적으로 우울이 높았다. 남자 청소년의 경우에는 자의식 정서가 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않음으로써 이 경로는 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의를 통해 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로는 남녀 청소년 모두 동성 부모와의 관계에서만 발견되었다. 즉, 아버지가 심리적 통제를 많이 할수록 남자 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의가 높아졌고 이는 우울을 초래하였으며, 여자 청소년의 경우에는 어머니의 심리적 통제가 높을수록 역기능적 완벽주의 성향이 높았고 결과적으로 우울을 많이 경험하였다. 마지막으로, 부모의 심리적 통제는 남녀 청소년의 자의식 정서에 영향을 미치지 않아, 부모의 심리적 통제가 남녀 청소년의 자의식 정서를 통해 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로는 발견되지 않았다. 본 연구는 부모의 심리적 통제가 남녀 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 및 자의식 정서를 통해 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로를 확인하였고, 그 경로에 있어 성차가 있음을 발견했다. 또한 청소년 우울의 선행 변인들, 즉 부모의 심리적 통제와 남녀 청소년의 역기능적 완벽주의 및 자의식 정서 가운데 역기능적 완벽주의의 상대적 영향력을 밝힘으로써, 청소년의 인지적 측면이 우울에 특히 중요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러, 아버지와 어머니의 심리적 통제를 동시에 고려할 때 동성 부모의 양육행동에서만 청소년의 우울에 이르는 경로가 나타나, 동성 부모의 상대적 영향력을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 본 연구는 청소년의 우울을 예방하거나 치료하기 위한 프로그램의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 실용적 의의가 있다.
