직관을 통한 식물 이미지

Abstract

Oscar Wilde said ‘Art never expresses anything but itself’ and Jung said ‘art is a symbol. Artists take experiences, perceptions, feelings, and ways of thinking and express them through symbols. As they said, artists express themselves through some medium in their work. Artists select the medium to express themselves. At this time, I am looking forward to researching what is the standard, the reason for choosing a plant as his medium, the theoretical background for choosing a plant, and the meaning of the plant’s characteristics. Art is not just about reproducing an object. it is about intuitively expressing human emotion or the world of spirits. Works of art do not have fixed causes or set answers like other fields of scholarship such as math and chemistry. In addition, even clearly explaining art is difficult. What does it take to motivate artists? I think that it shows the intuitive power of human emotion. Art is not intellectual thinking, but the experience of life and the communion of emotions that extend beyond the intellect. This tendency is stressed more in modern art. We are at an age when art focuses on abstractness and it point to the abstract and the planar. Beauty gives pleasure to the people. Artists want to provide pleasure to the people, so they create works to communicate to the masses.The masses can possess something of their own through the understanding of the beauty contained in the artist’s work. Art must have an aesthetic factor. Without it, expressing oneself through art would be extremely difficult. I will talk about the trends of modern art, namely its emphasis on abstractness and planarity, and I will discuss the intuition of the artist. In addition, I want to argue that through my emotional intuition, the aesthetic value of the plant can be found. Also, through the analysis of Eastern and Western art from ancient times until now, I will analyze the imagery of plants, the techniques for expressing them, and how Eastern margins in art were reproduced.;‘예술이란 상징이다. 작가가 경험하는 것, 지각하는 것, 느끼는 것, 생각하는 것을 상징을 통해 표현하는 것이다’라는 융의 말처럼 예술가는 작품에 자기 자신을 어떤 매개체를 통해 표현하게 된다. 작가는 자신을 표현하기 위해 그 매개체를 선택하게 되는데 그 기준은 어디에 있으며 선택의 이유는 무엇인지 알아보고 그 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 본인이 작업의 소재로 식물을 선택하게 되는 이유와 식물이 가지고 있는 조형적 의미 또한 연구해 보고자 하였다. 미술은 단순히 어떠한 대상을 재현하는 것이 아니라 직관에 의한 인간의 감정이나 정신세계를 표현하는 작업이다. 예술적 작업은 과학이나 수학같은 학문처럼 정확한 원인이나 답이 정해져 있지 않을뿐더러 명확한 설명조차 힘든 작업이다. 예술은 지성적으로 사색되어 지는 것이 아니라 지성을 초월한 삶의 체험과 감성의 교감, 즉 직관을 통한 것이다. 그 직관력을 통해 작가는 작업의 소재를 선택하게 되고 그 안에서 미적가치를 발견하여 그것을 표현하게 된다. 이는 현대미술에 들어서면서 더욱 강조되는 부분이다. 이 논문에서는 현대 미술의 경향 중 작가의 직관력이 강조되기 시작하면서 부각된 추상성과 평면성에 대해 알아보고, 본인의 작품에서 나타나는 모더니즘적 특징을 연구해보고자 하였다. 그리고 미적 대상으로서 식물이 가지는 가치와 의미에 대해 논해보고, 직관력이 본인에게 어떻게 식물을 예술적 감성을 자극하는 소재로 택하는데 영향을 미치게 된 것인지에 대해 연구해 보았다. 또한 동서양의 미술에서 표현되어온 식물이미지를 분석해보고 그 안에서 상징화된 식물의 의미를 고찰해본 후 본인작품 안에서는 식물 이미지가 어떻게 표현되었는지, 어떤 기법을 사용했는지, 식물을 왜 확대화와 단순화 시켜 표현했으며, 화면 구성에 있어 여백은 어떤 의미를 갖고 있는지에 대해 연구하였다. 그리고 작품분석을 통해 작품에 담긴 의미와 표현기법에 대해 고찰해 보고 앞으로의 작업 방향에 대해 모색하였다.
