상징화된 소통의 이상 공간

Abstract

실존적 인간으로서 우리는 공동체에서 타인과의 관계 속에서 타자(他者)와 대치(代置)할 수 없는 자기 독자의 실존을 드러내게 된다. 실존이란 내가 그것에 바탕을 두고 사유하고 행동하는 근원이며'타인'을 통해 드러나게 되는 것이다. 본인은 이러한 실존철학에서 논하는 타인의 중요성을 근거로 인간관계 안에서 발생되는 교류와 소통에 관심을 가지고 있다. 그를 바탕으로 현대에 새롭게 구축된 소통의 패러다임 속에서 가치와 의미를 발하는 면대면(Face to Face)만남에 대한 방법과 공간에 대해 이야기 하고자 하였다. 빠른 속도로 변화하는 현대 사회구조와 고도의 기술 발전은 우리가 문명의 이득을 누리며 무의식적인 일상 속에서 자신만의 가치와 존재를 찾기 위한 다양한 활동을 가능하게 해주었다. 이러한 사회구조와 기술의 진보는 소통의 패러다임에도 영향을 미쳐 이전에 존재했던 시·공간적 제약에서 벗어나 세계를 하나의 소통의 장으로 형성하게 하였다. 새롭게 구축된 소통의 패러다임은 편리함과 신속함을 제공해 주지만 진실한 소통의 부재, 인간소외 등의 문제점을 양산(量産)해 내기도 한다. 이러한 문제점의 해결책이자 치유책으로 가치를 부여받고 그 중요성이 부각되는 것이 바로 동일한 문화권 안에서'만남'을 통해 이루어지는 유기적인 면대면(Face to Face)소통이다. 현대인에게 이러한 면대면 소통이 이루어질 수 있도록 제공되는 공간으로'카페'가 있다. 개인이 사유할 수 있는 최소단위이자 소통의 시작이라고 할 수 있는 테이블이 의도적으로 배치된 그 공간으로 현대인들이 모여들면서 면대면 소통의 욕구해소가 시작되는 것이다. 자아성찰을 동반한 타인과의 다양한 소통을 위해 제공되는 이 공적공간은 현대인의 삶에서 '무엇을 마시는 공간'이라는 목적을 넘어선 가치와 의미를 가지게 된다. 소통의 주제는 주로 더 나은 인간다운 삶에 대한 이상향에 닿아있고, 소통을 통해 얻어지는 삶에 대한 치유와 안식은 현실의 삶에 더욱 충실할 수 있는 힘을 주어 더 나은 미래를 꿈꾸게 하는 요소로 작용하게 된다. 본인은 이러게 제공된 소통의 공간 안에서 사람들이 꿈꾸고 희구하는 이상공간의 한 형태를 보게 되었다. 이상향의 존재에 대한 믿음 안에서 부조리한 현실의 불만과 고민을 충족시키기 위해 부단한 노력과 절제를 하게 된다. 이상세계에 대한 기대와 희망을 통해 현재의 삶을 위로하게 되는 것이다. 본인은 사람들 마음과 머릿속에 이상공간이 있음을 직시하고 가시적이지 않은 이상향을 형상화함으로서 그것의 존재를 보여주고자 하였다. 화면은 카페의 물리적 특성이 아닌 한 개인이나 집단이 가지는 장소에 대한 정체성(identity with)에 집중해 공간을 구성하였다. 그 공간 안에는 이상적 의미의 소통을 이룬 사람이 있는가 하면, 소통의 부재를 느끼고 완전한 소통을 갈구하는 사람의 모습도 표현되어있다. 비가시적인 것의 형상화 방법으로는 민화에 나타나는 상징물 안에서 소통의 무언가를 발견하여 그 특징을 차용하고, 그것에 현대인으로서 본인의 삶을 관철시킴으로서 상징화된 소통의 시각요소를 구축하게 되었다. 이 요소들을 통해 소통 안에서 발현되는 우리의 인간사와 이상세계의 환상을 담아내고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 타인의 존재에 대한 소중함을 다시 인지하고 보이지 않는 이상공간에 대해 이론적인 근거를 부여하는 계기를 마련하였다. 또 볼 수 없지만 우리의 마음과 머리에 존재하며 마음의 눈으로 바라볼 수 있는 또 다른 현실을 발견하게 되었다. 본 연구가 소통을 갈망하는 우리에게 하나의 방향을 제시해 주고 자아와는 물론 타인과도 진정한 소통을 모색하고자 하는 본인에게는 작은 초석이 되길 기대해 본다.;We as existential humans beings reveal the existence of ourselves that can not be replaced with others in the relationship with others in community. Existence is the root on which I think, act and reveal myself through others. I am interested in exchange and communication occurred from human relations on the basis of importance of others discussed in existential philosophy. On the basis of that, I intended to talk about the method and space for face-to-face encounter whose value and meaning are revealed in the paradigm of communication newly built today. Modern social structure changing swiftly and highly developed technology allowed us to enjoy the benefits of civilization and do the activities to find our own value and existence in unconscious daily lives. This improvement of social structure and technology has had an effect on paradigm of communication and formed world as single ground for communication escaping from previously existed limitation of time and space. Newly built Paradigm of communication provides convenience and swiftness but it sometimes mass-produces problems of absence of real communication and human alienation. It is a close face-to-face communication through the meeting in the same culture that becomes valuable as a solution and healing and important. There is cafe as a space for this face-to-face communication for modern man. To the space where tables are arranged intentionally, which are a minimum unit and start points of communication, people gather and start to solve the desire for face-to-face communication. This public space provided for various communications with others with self-examination has meaning and value beyond the concept of space for drinking something in lives of modern man. The theme of communication mainly meets with utopia of better human life, healing and rest of life acquired from communication give people energy to live faithfully and act as a factor that makes people dream better future. I saw a shape of ideal space people dream and seek in the space for communication provided as such. People make efforts continuously and control in order to solve complaints and agonies in irregularities of real life while believing in utopia. They comfort their present life through expectation and hope for utopia. I faced that there were ideal spaces in hearts and heads of people and intended to show the existence by shaping invisible utopia. In case of screen, I composed a space concentrating on identity of the place a person or group feel rather than physical features of cafe. There are some people who realize communication of ideal meaning and others are expressed to feel absence of communication and long for complete communication. As a method of shaping something invisible, I found out and borrowed certain features of images appeared in folk painting and built visual factors of symbolized communication by carrying my life as a modern man. I tried to express the fantasy of human history and ideal world represented in the communication through these factors. I recognized again the importance of existence of others and provided opportunity for providing theoretical basis on invisible ideal space through this study. Also, I could find another reality invisible but existing in our hearts and only visible with eyes of mind. I expect this study will present a direction to us who desire communication and strengthen the basis for me who are seeking real communication with others as well as with self.
