Abstract
Robert Frost wrote of his people and nature so vivid that we feel as if we have already known them among our neighbors. One of the reasons for this is that he wrote of his Iiving experiences. His style is so simple that we can understand his poetry without any difficulty. We realize at the same time his poetry has the inner meaning behind its plain words. While we read his poems, we are led to his contemplation upon our age's problems; such as, human alienation, loneliness, and despair and so on .... Frost saw this world as a mixed whole of various elements. He described nature as a changeable human environment and people as the individuals. He found 'the black stream' in the "West-Running Brook" and life-in-death in the winter. His attitude of life is always rooted firmly on the earth, and affirmes 'this world is the best place to live.' In my thesis, I try to study his poetry and prove that he is truely a poet of our ages. Frost sees two opposing sides in a unity. The two are inseparable though paradoxical. Thus, the whole-being is consist of the two counterparts which oppose each other. He accepts the inevitable and it is what makes him a great modern poet.
