그리스 悲劇의 舞臺衣裳 Design

Abstract

본 論文은 그리스 悲劇에 登場하는 舞臺衣裳을 演劇史를 通하여 硏究分析하였으며 그중에서도 Aeschylus의 B.C.1185년 Troja戰爭을 背景으로 하는 有一한 trilogy形式으로 남아있는 Oresteia를 택하였으며 이것이 劇化되어 舞臺위에서 입혀질 때, 登場人物의 性格 및 職業, 身分, 特徵을 나타내주는 舞臺衣裳을 문헌에 나오는 것에 비추어 어떻게 design해야 하는가를 試圖하였다. 그리스 三大 悲劇作家로 Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, 등을 들며 이들은 잘알려진 전설이나 신화를 소재로 하여 劇을 썼고 같은 소재로도 作家마다 다르게 劇을 이끌어 나가고 있다. 이들은 劇중에 使用된 costume을 design하기도 했는데 平常服과는 현저하게 달랐다. 俳優들은 많은 大衆앞에서 演技를 해야하기 때문에 더욱더 위엄있고 인상적으로 보이게 하기 위하여 머리에는 Onkos라는 裝飾을 발에는 바닥이 두껴운 Kothurnus라는 신을, 몸에는 Padding을 한후 옷을 입고 belt를 가슴바로 아래 맴으로써 크기를 조장하였다.(약 7.5 feet) 또한 觀客席과 負袋와의 거리가 멀어서 俳優의 表情이나 動作은 觀客들의 눈에 잘 뜨이지 않을 뿐아니라 1人이 많은 役을 함께 해야하는 고로 mask로서 性別, 身分, 感情의 變化를 나타냈으며 mask안에 부착된 megaphon 장치로써 소리를 크게 울리게 하였다. 衣服의 形態도 一般人은 着用하지 않은 긴소매가 달린 華麗한 色相에 자수장식 등이 있는 것을 着用하여 一般人들은 俳優들을 다른 世界의 사람들로 생각할 程度였다. Oresteia가 劇化되어 登場人物이 着用하게될 舞臺衣裳의 design을 위하여 劇중의 時代, 登場人物의 個性이나 象徵的인 要素등을 관중이 한눈에 파악할 수 있도록 當代의 garment, material, color ornament, accessories등을 다루었다. 1部에서는 Agammenon, Klytaimnestra, Kassandra, 2部에서는 Orestes, Electra, Aigisthos, Klytaimenstra, 3部에서는 Orestes, Apollo, Athena, 등의 대표적 人物의 舞臺衣裳만을 design하였다. 劇中의 生代는 B.C. 1185年이나 이 劇이 처음 아테네에서 상연된 時期는 BC 458年이므로 Oresteia의 舞臺衣裳은 劇中 年代에 맞춘 것이 아닌 상연된 때의 衣裳으로 짐작되며 本人의 舞臺衣裳 design도 그 時代에 맞는 것으로 試圖하였다.;This study is to analyze the stage costume appeared in Greek tragedy through theatrical history. Oresteia was chosen which still remains as only a trilogy style originated from Trojan War. I designed the stage costume of Oresteia dramatized on stage, which represents characters, occupations, status and characteristics of performers according to the Greek literature. Three great writers of the Greek tragedy were Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides. They wrote the tragedies from the well-known Greek myths and legends, and wrote differently from the same sources. Although they even designed the stage costumes of these tragedies, the so costumes were notably different from the ordinary costumes. In order to appear more dignified ana impressive in front of the large audience, actors wore "Onkos" on head, "Kothurnus" on foot which had a thick bottom, and padding on body as underwear, and belt right under chest which could be adjusted (about 7.5 feet) The audience was sitting too far away from the stage, expression and movement of the actors was not clearly visible, one actor should perform more than one parts. Mask was used in order to show changing expression of characters, status, and emotion land megaphon was used in order to magnify voice of actors. The costume of the actors had long sleeves which the ordinary people did not wear and embroidery with extravagent colors. I treated garments, materials, colors, ornaments and accessories so that audience may comprehend the period of the tragedy, the characters of the performers, and symbolic elements in order to design the stage costume which the performers will wear when Oresteia was put on stage. I designed the stage costume of the following important characters with considering the harmony of the color. They are Agamemnon, Klytaimnestra, Kassandra in part Ⅰ. Orestes, Electra, Aigisthos, Klytaimnestra in part Ⅱ. Orestes, Apollo, Athena in part Ⅲ. The period of the Oresteia was 1185 B.C. but the first performance of this tragedy in Athens was 458 B.C. Thereforel, I attempted to suit the stage costume to the period of the first performance, that is, 458 B.C.
