In this study the influence of political instability on economic development in Zimbabwe is investigated. This paper argues that political instability led to the 2000 land reform programme which played a key role in the decline of the Zimbabwean economy. This study hypothesises that the land reform programme which was implemented due to political instability resulted in the decline of foreign direct inflows, imposition of sanctions which in turn affected the aid flow to Zimbabwe leading to the decline of the Zimbabwean economy. A case study design that relied on narratives and secondary data on political instability in Zimbabwe was adopted for this study. Results show how Zimbabwe’s economic decline was partly attributed to the political instability as shown through the outcome of the 2000 land reform programme. There is evidence to support the notion that, in Zimbabwe, the violent land reform programme contributed to a decline in economic development.;본 논문은 정치적 불안정성이 짐바브웨 경제 발전에 미친 영향에 대하여 분석하고 있다.
