Robert Rauschenberg에 대한 연구

Abstract

어느 시대를 막론하고 예술과 사회는 밀접한 관련성을 갖는다. 오늘날에 있어서 기계문명의 발달은 인간 스스로의 위치에 압박과 불안을 느끼게 하였으며 이것은 美術界에도 커다란 영향을 미치게 되었다. 인간의 個性과 독창성을 추구하던 추상표현주의(Expressionism)는 점점 더 급속히 발달되는 현대의 기계문명사회에 있어서 내면세계를 탐구하는 인간의 정신적인 가치와의 융화점을 찾는데 어떤 한계점을 느끼게 하였다. 그리하여 제2차 세계대전이후 美術界에서는 여러 가지 미술운동이 대두되게 되었는데 이中 Pop Art는 기계문명 사회를 하나의 구성적 작품으로 진전시킬 수 있다고 보고 多角的인 표현방법으로 현대의 기계기술문명을 수용하여 물질문명 속에서의 인간의 가치를 찾으려한 미술 운동이라 할 수 있다. 이와같은 성격의 Pop Art는 자연히 풍요한 산업 사회를 이루고 있는 전후 미국을 중심으로 활발히 전개되었는데 이 운동의 기수인 Robert Rauschenberg의 작품세계와 그의 藝術觀은 현대美術의 동향을 이해하는데 있어서 많은 問題點이 있다고 생각되어 본 論題를 택하였다. 그의 藝術은 우선 미니멀아트的인 White Painting, Red painting, Balck painting을 거쳐 그의 미술을 지칭하는 용어로 알려진 Combine Art로 접근해 갔다. Combine Art는 채색한 화면에 여러 가지 Object를 덧 붙이는 표현방법으로 자연히 오브제의 활용이 특징으로 된다. 즉, 기계에 의한 생산품 및 생활주변의 기존 오브제를 화면속에 도입 시킴으로써 현대 추상화의 평면성, 체계적 구성을 넘어서서 회화의 영역을 三次元的으로 넓히는 것이다. 또한 Rauschenberg는 회화의 구성요소가 되는 물질성의 image를 강조하여 입체적인 object의 도입으로 인한 친밀한 인간적인 이미지와 기계적으로 재생된 문화적 연상작용을 결연 시키려는 노력을 시도했다. Technology면에서는 실크 스크린(Silk screen)등의 다각적인 기법을 한화면속에 同位的으로 사용하는 다양성을 시도하였는데 이것은 회화의 독자성과 고독성을 넘어 動的인 것, 관람자의 참여, 시간의 제한 등과도 관련시키려는 기법을 추구하게 하였다. 한편, 그는 織物類와 支柱, box등을 재치있게 사용하고 이러한 직물류의 구성은 설득력있는 이메저리와 용해 시키는 것으로 그의 미술에 있어서 Structure의 특색을 더해가고 있다. 이와같은 Rauschenberg의 藝術은 한 시대를 이끄는 예술가의 사명감을 인식하고 기계문명과 공존 해야하는 운명체로서의 인간의 가치를 찾으려는 노력으로 보아진다. 초기의 White painting이 현존하는 世界를 알고 싶어하는 표현이라면 Black painting은 존재하는 모든 것의 수용의 형태고 Red painting은 추구 할 길을 착아 나가겠다는 의지의 표현이라 하겠으며 combine painting으로 이어지는 그의 美學은 John Cage의 미학에 근거를 둔 것으로 생각할 수 있다. 이런 Rauscheberg의 美術은 과도하게 비대해진 기계기술 문명에 비판없이 동화되는 듯 싶지만 이것은 인간의 개성을 한 걸음 전진시켜서 비유기적인 외계의 질서에 순응 시킴으로써 좀더 인간의 능력을 확대시키려는 노력이라 할 수 있으며 그의 끊임없는 표현방법의 시도와 현실에 대한 긍정은 미래의 인류세계와 기계문명과의 공존 가능성을 전제로 하는 藝術의 進步的인 모색과정으로 보아야 할 것이다.;An unexpected new phenomenon appeared after Worid War II, which was broken off from the past tradition in the field of art. That was an Abstract Expressionism: that is to search for the spiritual world of human being against surrealism. Naturally the Abstract Expressionist attached the great importance to human originality and personality and began to study them in various ways. But the mass production by developing industry spoiled the production by developing industry spoiled the individuality of each goods, so the trend of art met Limitation and the artists bored with painting by a painting brush. Hence the Pop-Art appeared as a new type admitting the new modern machine civilization. For the purpose of understanding modern friends of art and improving painting skill I chosed Robert Pauschenberg as pioneer in the field of Pop-Art and decided to studymore analically on his works. His art is specially called "Combine Art". The artistic term originated from his works. The works as his first stage were introduced to the world of art with the white paintings in 1951. His art settled into his ole through the process of the black painting and the His works are combined in various objects red painting. Through his ceaseless study he made an application of the art of typegraphy with his combine-painting Art and relating to other Pop-Artists. The Technology of Rauschenberg's Art must be related to the inter change with the Dancing Association. And also the participated in the cooperative manufacturing with engineers. Although he combined in various strange materials in his works, thor have a certain special unity. (unifiedbeauty) From this point of view Rauschenberg as an Abstract Expressionist and a great master painter in the field of Pop-Art gave us a new series of abilities in the field of art.
