dc.description.abstractFrom the desire to understand the modern dance, the objective of these pages has been emphasised on the consideration into ''Characteristics of the Modern Dance and Its Basic Form." In the past, the art dance meant the ballet and, needless to say, the-modern dance has actually arisen in fulfilment of the ideals of the romantic movement which had set its디f positively against the artifice of the classic ballet, and virtually is all in the direction of independent art in the new dimension. Modern dancing is accepted generally to be effected by the dance of primitive people rather than by the classic ballet kept under the traditional formalism. This is to say, it has started from the new recognition of the dancing movement. It is said that there are four important discoveries in the field of modern dance: The first one of them is Movement seen by the modem dancer as an unified entity, a substance, the second one is Metakinesis which extends the range of the dancing movement, the third one is Dynamism which verifies that the body of dancer is a kind of instrument of the three-dimensional art, and the last one is the Establishment of Similarity in the common pattern through the generations, of dancer's effort. This practically prefers internal, form as a fundamental which exists within the experience of dancer to external form deals with his invocation of the unknown. From the theory that the physical and psychical are merely two aspects of a single underlying reality, the movement has become a significant element, on which the dancing based can undoubtedly, be considered a factor of the modern dance as a brilliant, independent art. In a word, the modern dance is on its way toward the representational art harmonized with the beauty and the life and it is the main subject from which this thesis has made a new start to delve into our Modern Dance.-
