Abstract

Modeste Petrovich Mussorgsky is one of the active member of mid-nineteenth century Russian nationalists. And his realistical approach to music has an important place in music history. There was a great development of industry, education and culture together with liberalization of serfs in l860's. This was also the time when realism met their summit by writers like Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Turgenev in literature. However realism did not yet take effect on music. The fact that Mussorgsky's compositions were influenced by realism at this background is notable. He expressed and described the lives of common people and their emotions in a simple way by using national idems. In songs and operas, Mussorgsky tried to describe the characteristics of daily conversation of common people with their accents and gestures. In his most representative piano work "Pictures at an Exhibition" he tried to give listeners the vivid impression of each pictures by describing their characteristics in musical notes. The peculiarity of this composition is that he employed harmonies away from the tradition, complexity of rhythm, uncertainty of tonality, intervals like ninth, eleventh and thirteenth and unusual cadences. Later, claude Debussy was influenced by these characteristics of Mussorgsky's composition. Following summarizes, this thesis about Mussorgsky. After analyzing Mussorgsky's most representative work "Pictures at an Exhibition. I have realized that his individualistic creatively most be re-evaluated.;무소르그스키 ( Modeste Petrovich Mussorgsky ) 는 19세기 중반의 러시아 국민악파중의 한 사람으로서 활동하였으며, 특히 음악상에 사실주의를 도입한 사람으로서 중요하다. 1860년대 러시아는 농노해방과 더불어 모든 산업과 교육 . 문화가 부흥되었고, 문학에서는 Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Turgenev등 사실주의 문학이 절정에 달했었으나 음악에서는 사실주의의 영향이 아직 못 미치고 있었다. 그러한 때 무소르그스키는 보통 사람들의 생활과 감정을 있는 그대로 음악속에 소박하고 진실하게 표현하고자 민족적 소재를 토대로 사실주의적인 작품을 썼다. 가곡과 오페라에서는 일상의 말은 물론이거니와 대화의 억양 사람의 몸짓까지 음악에 도입하려고 했고, 피아노 모음곡 전람회의 그림 ( Pictures at an Exhibition ) 에서는 회화의 인상을 사실적으로 표현하여 그림의 느낌을 생생하게 묘사하였다. 또한 "전람회의 그림" 에서 볼 수 있는 전통에서 벗어난 화성법, 리듬의 복합성, 조성의 불확실성, 9도, 11도, 13도의 음정관계, 색다른 종지법등의 작품특성은 인상파음악가인 드뷔시에게 영향을 끼쳤다. 무소그르스키에 대해 본 논문이 다루고 있는 것을 요약해보면 다음과 같다. 서 론: 19세기 러시아의 시대적배경과 음악상의 5인조의 성립과, 무소르그스키의 사실주의에 대해 언급한다. 본 론: Ⅰ. 무소르그스키의 생애 무소르그스키의 성장과정, 교육과정, 작품활동을 살펴본다. Ⅱ. 발라키렉프 써클 5인조의 성립과 시대적배경, 5인조의 작품과 관계를 살펴본다. Ⅲ. 무소르그스키 작품의 일반적 특성 무소르그스키의 음악속에 나타난 사실주의와, 양식, 형식, 조성, 화성, 리듬, 종지법, 선율면에서 살펴본다. Ⅳ. "전람회의 그림" 분석연구 그의 사실적인 표현을 세밀히 고찰하고, 독창적이며, 혁신적인 미완성의 작품양식이 드뷔시등 인상파음악에 끼친 영향을 살펴본다. 이렇게 무소르스키의 대표작인 "전람회의 그림“을 분석연구함으써 그의 독창적인 창조정신이 재평가 되어져야 할것으로 인식되었다.
