자연염색에 의한 한국 기와 지붕의 조형성 연구

Abstract

현대 미술은 대상을 표현하는데 있어서 과거의 고정관념을 거부하고 예술가의 독창성을 중요시하며 작가의 내면세계와 조형적인 표현에 중점을 두고 있다. 대상을 표현함에 있어 창조적 행위는 객관적으로 존재하고 있는 미적 대상에 대해 질서와 조화를 형성하여 작가의 내적 심미성을 표현하는데 중요한 조형 활동이 되고 있다. 현대 예술의 양상은 장르의 구분이 무너지고 작가의 내적 의식이나 이미지 표현을 중요시하는 조형예술로 발전해 가는 경향을 띠고 있다. 우리나라의 일반적인 조형예술은 자연을 거스르지 않고 자연과 연속성을 갖고 조화를 이루기를 원하였으며 심지어 자연에 동화되어 버리는 특성을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 한국인의 의식속에 흐르는 자연의 미를 통해 기와지붕이 갖는 형태에서 느끼는 아름다움을 형상화하였고 기와에서 볼 수 있는 고유의 색을 표현하는데 가장 적절하다고 판단되는 먹의 사용과 자연에서 느낄 수 있는 깊이있는 색을 나타내기위해 전통 염색법인 자연염료를 이용하여 한국 기와지붕의 형태가 지니는 구조미를 창조적으로 재구성하여 현대 감각에 맞는 한국의 이미지를 표현하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로는 한국인의 미의식을 통한 조형성에 대한 연구와 기와지붕의 조형적 분석, 문양의 발생과 조형성 그리고 자연염색의 일반적인 특성에 관하여 고찰하였다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 실제 10점의 염색 작품을 제작하여 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국인의 미의식을 형성하는 있는 자연주의적 사상은 건축에 있어서 자연과 일치하는 용마루의 선과 처마의 추겨오린 듯한 선, 지붕에 얹혀져 있는 기왓골의 흐름에서 자연과 아름다운 조화를 이루는 조형성을 느낄 수 있어 한국의 이미지를 표현하는데 적절하였다. 이러한 한국인의 미의식을 통해 대상을 창조적으로 재구성하여 통일되고 조화로운 공간을 표현 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 납방염(蠟防染) 기법으로 염색(染色)과 방염(防染)을 반복하여 얻어지는 단계적 변화로 톤 칼라를 쉽게 나타낼 수 있어 깊이감의 표현에 적합한 기법이었다. 셋째, 자연염색의 실험연구를 통하여 자연과 조화를 이루려하며 자연에 거스르지 않는 우리의 사상과 일치하는 자연염색에 대하여 우리 민족의 전통문화를 발전 계승할 수 있는 계기가 되었다고 할 수 있었다. 또한 자연염료를 이용한 염색은 시간과 수공의 노력이 많이 필요하였으나, 자연에서 느낄 수 있는 깊이 있는 색으로 견뢰도가 우수하여 본 작품에서 느껴지는 한국의 이미지를 표현하는데 적절한 염색법이었다. 이와 같은 결론을 기반으로 본 연구자는 작업에서 나타나는 미흡한 점을 창의적 작품활동과 실험 연구를 통하여 보다 철저한 분석을 하고 자연염료에 대한 문제점을 지속적으로 연구 개발하여 사라져가는 우리의 전통 문화를 발전시켜 현대 염색에 실용화 될 수 있도록 노력하고자 한다.;Modern art refuses the estahlished conception as the expression of object, setting much value on the originality of the artist, and emphasizing the ardst's inner world and modeling expression. As the expression of the object, the creative action moulds the order and harmony in the beauty object which objectively exist. The moulding operation is important to express the auther'inner aesthetic appreciation. Modern art's characteristic is the collapse of genre it is a common trend to develop the shaping art in the emphasis of author's inner conscious and image expression. Korea general modeling art is not against nature having a continuity with nature, having a good harmony with nature, or having a characteristic of assimiliating with nature, through the natural beauty innate to Korean conscious, we embody the the beauty of roofing tile shape. we use the china ink suitable for the expression of the genuine color to demonstrate the deep color in nature, and use the traditional natural dye to creatively restructure the structured beauty of innate Korea roofing tile. We set an aim to express the Korean image suitable for modern style. To prove this theory we research the characteristic theoretical background of roofing tile, the development of pattern modeling, and the general characteristics of natural dyeing. Threrfore we epitomize the analysis of dye materials on actual 10 works on the theoretical background. First, to bring out the korean beauty, we perceive the natural conception of the tile congruous to the construction line and the stream of the channels between the rows of tiles. It is proper to show the korean image through this korean beauty sense, creatively reconstruct the object, and express the unified and harmonious space. Second as we repeat a resist and dyeing, using the technique of paraffin wax, we show the depth of the tone and color. Third, while dyeing requires the time and endeavour using the nature dye matehals, it is the suitable dyeing skill which is needed express the korean image known by it's profound and mysterious colors with the characteristics of colorfast. and through the research of natureal dyeing, Korea conception agreeable to nature and harmony ushers in the development of Korean traditional culture. In conclusion I sincerly hope that through creative working operation and experiment I through analyzed and developed the main points of natural dyestuffs. I hope to aspire to realize the modern dyeing skill, and develop our fading traditional culture.
