Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to specify the Stamp Act as the cause of the American Revolution in connection with the British Empire. The heavy expenditure that -the Seven. Year's War had entailed led the British parliament to-tighten up -the restrictive economic regulations and to impose new taxes by which the colonies would contribute to the upkeep of a military establishment One of these new measures was the Stamp Act of March. 1765, which was widely resented. in America as an infringement of the principle that freeborn subjects of the crown should. not be taxed without the consent of their own representatives. The American Revolution can not be considered without the Stamp Act, which the British parliament passed on the 22nd of March, 1765. The British parliament intended to cover their financial deficiency with. the income of tho taxation from the colonies. Colonies must be existed. for the benefit of the Mother Country. Such opinions of the British leading statesmen were fundamentally mistaken. The Stamp Act, itself, was a small historical decision compared with the other fatal ovents in the world. history, but it became the crucial issue of the Pritish. Empire as well as the people in. the American Colonies. The hot debato took place in. Grate Britain particularly between. Prime Minister George Grenville and William Pitt on the right of thc British parliament to levy the internal tax to the colonies. In America, the Stamp Act was definitely, considered as legal and therefore must be rojected at any cost. This paper intends to analyse the cause of the Stamp Act, giving the weight on the discussion the reactions in American Colonies. The radical anti-movement in America made the King change his mind to abolish the Stamp Act. It was, however, too late for the colonies to turn back; the revolutionary of the King's policy made the British Empire to lose its most resourceful colonies, the future center of the world politics.
