dc.description.abstractThis paper attempted that salicylic acid and its derivatives which react with the ferric □ion of ferric chloride - organic solvent media to form colored stable non-adsorbable complexes were separated by using a strongly basic anion exchange resin, Dowex 1-X8, chloride form (200-to 400-mesh). In order to investigate the optimum conditions for the elution behavior of organic acids, equilibrium distribution coefficient and volume distribution coefficient were determined and compared respectively. The concentration of organic acids in the eluates were determined by spectrophoto-metric method. The advantages of this study are that the elution behavior of organic acids could be observed visually because of the formation of the colored zones of Fe(111)-organic acid complexes on the resin and without any treatment of the eluate organic acids were determined colorimetrically. Therefore, this present process is much less tedious, far simpler in procedure, and less time consuming for the elution and analysis.-
