- Abstract
- The natural world in which we live isn't "reality" in the real meaning of that word. The natural world is nothing but a collection of momentary phenomena which are the reflection or shadow of the eternal essential world that is hidden behind this world. The only meaning of the natural world is as an embodiment of the vision or idea of the eternal world.
The Symbolistes tried to discover the essential world hidden behind the momentary phenomena. The essential world that the Symbolistes seek through poetry is an aesthetic, visionary world, not ruled by our logic or reason. It is a limpid world reached through the spiritual action, intuition.
In this visionary world, what we call an event in our daily life, to the Symbolistes is an emotion. The emotion of the poet exists as a perfect image beyond life, death and time. The visionary world has neither time nor space, there is no past or future, only the present exists.
The visionary world of the Symbolistes is the inner world and a color, a sound and a scent have the common essence. And, this group of the essences communicate each other, everything goes out of existence and melts away, in this world of vision of the poets.
