미술과 문학의 유기적 관계의 표현연구

Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze both the interaction between painting and literature and the works of painting established through their interaction. Also this analysis is a part of studies concerning the organic relation ship between painting and literature. There are two different ways to relate painting and literature ; pictorial approach of literature and literary approach of painting. The later is accepted in this study. In the main discourse, some important concepts about the relationship between painting and literature are reviewed. By investigating the work "Sulwhagi" by Son, Chang-gi in early China, I intend to demonstrate the ideal manner that synthesizes literature, painting and handwriting. On the other hand, I present Jean H. Hagstrum's concepts about both literature based on pictorial conception and painting inspired by literature with respect to its theme. Furthermore, I suggest the real examples of correspondences between painting and literature. Also, I attempt to analyze Sosik's process of shaping the poet's visual imagery and his thought about the pictorial poems that can provide the visual image. In addition, the belief that poem and painting should be perceived as one art makes me pay considerable attention to his experiments and writings to prove existence of the similarities between poem and painting. During the practice of my own, I analyze my works, placing emphasis on their subjects taken from literature and skills of expression. For example, from the classical literature, I acquire instructive lessons as eternal truth for my works' subjects while from contemporary literature, I absorb some subjects that we can experience as vitalizer in our life. Concerning the skills of expression, I attempt to provide the skills of expression and materials that have used repeatedly throughout my works. With the belief that this dissertation would be a basis of my works of painting. I hope more studies about symbolic and significant expression should be done for my future works so that they can carry and express more profound moaning.; 본 논문은 미술과 문학 사이의 유기적인 관계에 대한 연구의 일환으로, 이 두 분야간에 일어난 상호작용과 그러한 상호작용을 통해 이루어진 미술작품에 대해서 연구한 것이다. 미술과 문학을 접근시키는 방법은 문학의 미술적 접근과 미술의 문학적 접근으로 구분할 수 있는데 본 논문은 後者의 접근방법을 취하고 있다. 본론에서는 동·서양에 이미 존재했던 미술과 문학의 관계에 대한 인식을 여러 저서를 통해 확인하였는데, 북위(北魏)의 손창지(孫暢之)가 쓴 술화기(述畵記)를 통해 글, 그림, 글씨의 결합양상을 설명하였고, 미국의 학자 하그스트럼(Hagstrum)의 저서를 통해 회화작품을 탐색해 보았다. 또한, 미술과 문학이 결합되어 나타난 실제적인 예를 들어 論하고자 하였다. 소식(蘇軾)의 시정화의론(詩情畵意論)을 통해서는 시속에 담긴 정취를 형상화하는 작업과 시각적인 이미지를 느낄 수 있는 회화적인 '시에 관한 소식의 견해를 밝혔으며, 시화동질설(詩畵同質說)에서는 시와 그림의 유사성을 증명하고자 했던 실험과 저서의 내용을 탐색해 보았다. 그리고, 시화동질설에 反論을 제기한 레싱(Lessing)의 시화이질설의 모순을 지적하여 결과적으로 시화동질설을 옹호하는 입장을 논하고자 하였다. 작업을 통한 표현과정에서는, 본인의 작업을 중심으로, 문학에서 제재를 취한 작품과 작품 속에 내포된 내용, 표현방법적인 면에 걸쳐 작품분석을 하였다. 고전문학을 제재로 한 작품은 현대를 살아가는 우리에게 여전히 불변하는 진리로서 받아들여지는 교훈적인 내용을 다룬 것이 많고, 현대문학을 제재로 한 경우는 현대인들이 느끼고 겪는 일상적인 경험 속에 활력을 줄 수 있는 내용을 중심으로 다루었다. 표현기법에 관해서는 본인의 작품 속에 나타난 표현 중에서 반복적으로 사용되는 재료와 표현방법을 다루었고, 앞으로의 본인의 작업이 보다 풍부한 내용을 담은 것들이 될 수 있도록 상징적이고 함축적인 표현에 대해 많은 연구가 있어야 될 것으로 생각하며, 이 논문을 본인의 작업에 기초로 삼고자 한다.
