음악 교육적 측면에서 본 Martin Luther의 음악과 Lieder

Abstract

루터의 종교 개혁은 당시 부패해 있던 종교계 뿐만 아니라 음악 교육적인 측면에서도 세계사에 일대 전환점을 마련하였다. 그의 찬송 개혁은 근본적으로 하나님의 말씀을 독일 국민들에게 더욱 잘 이해시킬 수 있는지를 교육적 측면에서 고려되었다. 또한 루터는 음악을 하나님이 인간에게 부여한 가장 귀한 선물이며 신앙의 표현수단으로 인식하여, 음악을 통하여 하나님의 말씀이 사람들에게 전해지고 더욱 잘 이해되기를 바랐다. 루터의 교육 사상에 나타난 시민교육 사상은 신학적, 교육적인 면에서 파악해 볼 수 있고, 교육의 개방과 평생교육을 지향하는 오늘날의 교육에 있어서 시민 교육은 매우 중요한 문제로 제기된다. 루터는 뛰어난 음악적 소양을 가지고 있었고 여러 음악 동역자들과 협력하여 그의 개혁신학 사상을 독일의 음악적 전통과 접목시킨 코랄이라는 새로운 찬송을 창시했다. 그는 인간의 심성 도야와 정서 발달에 유익한 것은 음악이라고 하며 음악 교육 사상을 가지고 최초로 음악을 학교 교육 과정의 정규 과목으로 채택하고 가창과 기악 연주 등 실기 교율을 강조하였다. 그의 이러한 주장에 의하여 많은 찬송가집을 발간하게 된것은 그 당시 낙후되어 있던 음악 교육의 발전에 자극을 주기도 하였다. 본 연구는 루터의 음악 교육 사상을 중심으로 그의 음악관과 음악 교육 목적과 음악 교육 방법을 통하여 현애 음악에 끼친 공헌을 연구하였다. 그의 교육용 찬송중에는 "Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her"와 "Vom Himmel kam der Engel Schar"가 있는데 이는 어린이와 성인의 음악 교육을 위하여 수준에 맞는 어휘를 사용한 성탄절용 찬송이다. 루터의 회중 찬송에 대한 적극적인 권장으로 교회 음악의 암흑기를 벗어나 Chorale의 탄생을 보게되었으며, 당시로서는 획기적이라 할 수 있는 합창 음악 교육에 대한 관심을 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 루터의 음악 교육사상과 음악 교육 방법 및 영향 그리고 음악 교육의 자료가 된 코랄에 관한 전반적인 문제들을 루터의 저작과 국내외 관련 문헌들을 통하여 연구한 것이다. 그 결과 루터는 음악의 교육적 가치와 중요성을 높이 평가하여 종교적 목적 뿐만 아니라, 인간 교육 수단으로서의 음악을 보편적 학교 교육 과목으로 정착시키는데 공헌하였으며, 그의 음악 교육 사상은 오늘의 교육 현장에서도 그 의미를 되살려 나아갈 가치가 충분하다는 결론을 얻게 되었다.;Luther's Reformation was a great hlming point in the world In the light of the corrupt religious circles at that time, as well as in music education. His hymn reform was basically considered in few of education which helped God's Word to be better understood by German people. Also, Luther recognized music as the most valuable gift which God gives ta human beings and as a way of expressing his belief that he expected God's Word should be carried to the people and better understood through music. The issue of public education appeared in Luther's belief that education can be grasped in the light of theology. This is suggested as a very important issue in today's education which aims at unresricted and lifelong learning. Luther was well grounded in music and cooperated with several musical circles to create a new form of hymn, Chorale, which grafted his reformed theology to German musical tradition. As he believed music to be instructive in building up mind and developing sentiments, he adopted music as a regular subject in the school educational curriculum for the first time and emphasized such actual skills as singing and playing musical instruments. In addition to such actions, he published many hymnbooks which stimulated the backward musical education of that time towards development. This study researched into Luther's contribution to the music of his time through his musical ideas, purpose and methods for musical education. His hymns for education included such Christmas hymns as "Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her" and "Vom Himmel kam der Engel Schar",which used appropriate vocabulary for children. His positive recommendation of congregational hymns led to the birth of Chorale during the dark period of church music, which showed his interest in choral education. This choral education was ground-breaking at that time. This study researched general aspects on Luther's musical education ideas, methods, influence and chorale which became musical education data through his writings and the relevant literature at home and abroad. As a result, Luther is seen as having been highly appreciated for the educational value and importance of music, which did much towards establishing musicals a general school subject for the purpose of religious and human education. The conclusion arrived at is that his musical education philosophy is worthy of being put 13 practical use in contemporary education.
