존 듀이의 경험이론을 중심으로 한 유아무용 프로그램 구성에 관한 연구

Abstract

유아를 대상으로 한 교육의 중요성과 관심은 20세기 후반이후로 그 열기가 더해가고 있으며 특별히 무용교육은 유아들에게 신체적, 정서적, 사회적 측면 등 다양한 영역에서 균형 있는 성장을 할 수 있도록 돕는다. 현대사회에서 교육은 기존의 전통적인 방법론에서 탈피하여 교사가 아닌 학생중심의 학습이 이루어지는 방향으로 그 패러다임이 바뀌어왔다. 이러한 변화의 중심 가운데에는 존 듀이의 교육철학이 큰 비중을 가지고 그 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 다른 교육의 영역과는 달리 기존의 무용교육은 교육실천의 기반으로서의 올바른 철학이 부재하는 모습을 보이고 있기에 듀이의 교육철학에 기반을 둔 무용교육과 그 프로그램의 개발의 필요성이 제기된다. 따라서 본 논문은 존 듀이의 교육중심이론인 경험의 세 가지 원리격인 탐구의 원리, 상호작용의 원리 그리고 계속성의 원리에 대하여 살펴본 후, 교육현장에서 활용할 수 있는 실질적인 교육 프로그램의 제시에 그 목적을 두고 문헌을 중심으로 연구하였다. 선행 연구들을 살펴보면 존듀이의 경험이론을 바탕으로 한 무용교육에 대한 연구들로서 교육 사상을 중심으로 철학적 접근에 관한 것이 대부분 이었고, 존듀이의 경험이론인 탐구의 원리, 상호작용의 원리, 계속성의 원리를 적용하여 무용 프로그램을 구성하고 제시한 한 연구는 없었다. 그 결과 듀이의 이론을 토대로 구성된 프로그램(Learning by Doing Dance Program)은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로그램의 성격과 목표는 유기체와 환경의 통합능력, 호기심을 통한 주변세계 탐구 및 인식능력, 자연과의 상호작용을 통한 정서 함양, 움직임의 표현과 감상 능력, 단체와 집단을 통한 사회성 발달에 있다. 둘째, 프로그램의 구성과 내용은 듀이의 경험을 강조하는 탐구과정의 원리를 활용하여 몸 풀기 - 문제 파악하기 - 문제 생각하기 - 문제 해결하기 - 문제 응용하기 - 대화하기의 여섯 단계로 전개된다. 그리고 각 단계에 따른 구체적인 전개 내용은 몸 풀기 → 문제 인식 및 분명화 → 가설 설정 및 가설 결과 추론 → 가설 검증 → 문제 응용 →감상 및 토론하기에 따른 체계적인 경험의 학습이 이루어진다. 그리고 프로그램은 Level Ⅰ, Level Ⅱ, Level Ⅲ의 단계로 반복적이고 심화된 학습으로 발전되며, 개별 활동과 소집단 활동에 따라 성취할 수 있는 탐구능력과 혐동심 증진을 유도하였다. 셋째, 지도방법은 아동중심의 자율적 형태를 지향하고, 개별화와 개인차를 인정하는 아동중심 수업으로 이루어지며, 프로그램 구성의 여섯 단계에 따른 탐구과정을 통해 유의미한 경험이 일어날 수 있도록 돕는다. 넷째, 존 듀이의 교육 사상을 바탕으로 제시한 무용 프로그램의 특성과 가치는 앞서 제시한 여섯 단계의 학습 탐구과정을 통해 보다 깊이 있는 반성적사고 능력을 발달시킬 수 있다는 것과 각 단계에 따라 발생되는 학습의 교육적 효과를 명확하게 드러내 준다는데 있다. 이상과 같이 제시된 “행하면서 배우는 유아무용 프로그램”은 탐구의 원리, 상호작용과 계속성의 원리에 기반 한 무용 수업을 유아들에게 제공할 것이며, 유아와 교사 모두에게 유익한 탐구력, 표현력 그리고 협동심을 증진시킬 수 있는 교육적 결과를 가져올 수 있을 것이다. 또한 유아들에게 경험 안에서, 경험에 의해서, 경험을 위해서 교육되어지는 무용 수업은 올바른 전인적인 성장과 발달을 이룩하도록 도울 것이다. 그러나 앞으로 무용 수업에 존 듀이의 교육철학과 그 실질적인 적용 문제에 대한 좀 더 깊이 있는 연구와 논의가 필요할 것이며, 본 프로그램의 현장 학습효과의 검증에 따른 효과에 대한 후속연구가 필요할 것이다.;The importance and interest in infant education greatly increased in the later part of the 20th century. Dance education in particular can provide a balance growth in the physical, emotional, social and other areas for infants. In the modern society, the precedent traditional methodology is avoided and the paradigm has changed directions from a teacher focused learning to one focused on students. In the middle of such changes, John Dewey’s education philosophy has great importance and plays such role. However, because, as opposed to educational areas, dance education is lacking an adequate philosophy in the basis of the education execution, the necessity to Therefore, this paper focused on the literary research to present practical education program that can be applied to education site after considering the education-oriented theory of John Dewey’s Experience, that is the principle of probe, the principle of interaction, the principle of continuity. Though preceding studies were conducted such as studies on the dance education based on John Dewey’s Experience Theory, most of them were confined to the philosophical approach that centered around the ideology of education. No studies have been carried out which researched the principle of interaction, that is the principle of John Dewey’s Experience Theory, the principle of continuity, and the principle of probe itself which can be applied to the development of dance program. As a result, the program based on Dewey’s theory (Learning by Doing Dance Program) is as such. First, the characteristics and objective of this program is the integration ability of the body and environment, exploration and cognition of the surrounding world through curiosity, and the emotional growth though the interaction with nature. And the recognition of the importance of group or organization, interactive and social abilities, the ability to express motions and the appreciative ability ensuing from continuous learning will be cultivated. Second, the structure and contents of the program is based on six stages: warming-up through the process of exploration(probe) emphasizing Dewey’s Experience – figuring out the problem –considering the problem - resolving the problem – applying the problem – discussion. The learning is realized through systematic experience through various stages: warming-up → recognition and clarification of problem → setting hypothesis and inferring from the result of hypothesis → validation of hypothesis → application of problem → conversation Divided into Level I, Level II, and Level II, this program develops into repetitive and in-depth learning. Besides, the program separates the activities into individual activities and small group activities, which aims to increase the probing ability and cooperative mindset. Third, the teaching is directed toward promoting self-controlled learning and recognition of individual differentiation and personal differences. Moreover, the program helps students undergo significant experience while exploring according to the five stages. Finally, the program is characterized and valued by its scientific and systematic dance program based on the education ideology of John Dewey. And the program can increase the reflective thinking through the presentation of experience based on the process of more in-depth probing when it is carried out. Moreover, the six stages based on the probing process (reflective thinking) (warming-up – problem solving – problem recognition – problem resolution – problem application – finishing off) is the distinctive aspect of this program, and the advantage of the program is that it helps reveal the educational effect while the six stages are implemented. The child dance program which was presented as above will help provide children with dance classes founded on the principle of probing, interaction, and continuity in various educational institutes, and will bring about educational result that may increase the ability of expression, probing, and cooperation useful to both children and teachers. Also, the dance class will help children to achieve a sound and wholesome growth and development, which is provided in experience, by experience and for experience. However, there is still a need for more in-depth studies regarding John Dewey’s philosophy and its practical application. Succeeding studies will need to examine the ramification(effect) from the validation of the site learning effect of this program.
