J. S. Bach의 요한 수난곡에 대한 소고

Abstract

音樂歷史의 潮流속에서 宗敎가 차지하는 比重은 至大하다. 즉 音樂의 始作에서부터 지금에 이르기까지 音樂과 宗敎는 서로 密着되어 있다고 할 수 있다. 中世紀의 宗敎는 그 當時의 政治, 社會를 支配하고 있었으므로 그 어느 時代보다 宗敎의 外的 勢力이 强했던 때라 할 수 있다. 이러한 勢力이 Baroque 時代에 이르러서는 조금 弱해지면서 敎會의 役割도 덜 重要하게 되었다. 音樂藝術은 非宗敎的 團體의 影響을 받게 되어 世俗音樂이 宗敎音樂보마 더 優位에 서게 되었다. 바로크時代의 音樂的인 特徵 가운데 가장 뚜렷한 것 中에는 長調와 短調의 分明한 區分, 半音階主義와 不協和音 使用, 器樂樣式과 聲樂樣式의 差異, 音樂의 劇的表現, 그리고 베이스를 强調하였던 것이다. 이러한 形式이 새로운 頂上을 向하며 前進하며 發展하는 가운데 차츰 敎會音樂에까지 浸透하여 그 影響力을 마치게 된다. Baroque 後期에 와서 一生을 敎會音樂에 바친 J.S. Bach 는 本 論文의 對象인 요한 受難曲 뿐만 아니라 Baroque 時代의 全般的인 音樂形式을 集約한 數많은 宗敎音樂을 作曲하였다. 이 論文에서는 J.S. Bach의 요한 受難曲 中 아리아를 重點的으로 曲 全體的 構造와 細部的인 考察을 하여 그 唐詩의 作曲 技法의 特徵을 硏究해 보았다. 그 外에도 作家의 生涯, 바로크音樂의 一般的인 特徵과 受難曲의 歷史的 背景 등을 아울러 簡單하게 考察하여 보았다. 이 作品은 唐詩의 다른 作品에 비해 더 特異하거나 새롭게 開發된 要素를 가지고 있다고는 볼 수 없다. 그가 作曲한 數 많은 칸타타나 B단조미사, 마태受難曲 등 Bach의 成熟期의 作品에서는 흔히 찾아 볼 수 있는 一般的인 音樂形式들이다. 아리아를 分析해 본 結果를 살펴보면 歌詞의 句節과 音樂形式이 거의 一致하며, 曲의 主題는 一般的으로 한 두가지로서 繼續 變形發展 시켜 나가고 서너가지의 figuration을 가지고 있다는 点이다. 그 外에도 Fuga 的인 手法, Canon 手法, Melismatic 한 音型, Sustain된 音型 등 技法의 特徵이 있음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 特徵은 바로크 時代의 特徵이자 Bach의 作品에서도 많이 볼 수 있는 形式들로서 이 作品의 分析은 作家가 나타내려는 受難曲의 깊은 意味와 作曲 技法을 조금이나마 硏究하는데 價値가 있다.;Throughout the historical stream of music, religion has given much impetus to the art. From very beginning up to recent music, religion and music have been closely connected together. Since the Political and social thinking of the Middle Ages was widely influenced by religion, we may say that this was the age of the strongest religious power which ever existed. In the baroque era, however, this religious power became less strong than previously. Music became influenced by the non-religious community and consequently non-religious music obtained the predoninant position over religious music. The other distinctive features of baroque music are; obvious division between major and minor, the use of chromatic semi tones and discords, obvious of intrumental music and vocal music, dramatic expression and giving emphasis to the music's bass line. All of these features were developed and extended during the period and influenced church music. J.S. Bach who lived his life in the latter period wrote a large number of sacred works which use mostly baroque style. My study mainly focused on the arias of the Passion According To St. John of J.S.Bach, order to see the general characteristics of baroque music, Bach's sacred music and the historical background of passion musics. Even though the arias of the St. John Passion do not contain any newly-developed elements, they show that the division of the text coprespond to the musical style used. The one or two musical themes of each aria usually develop using a variety of musical figures. Besides these, melismatic figures, sustaining figures, fuga style and Canon style are also used widely as I have endeavored to point out in this thesis. All of these technical devices can be found in all Bach's works and in the works of other baroque musicians. The arias of tld St. John Passion, therefore are worthy of analysis from this perspective.
