현대조각에 나타난 인간상에 관한 연구

Abstract

The establishment of the sculpture as an independent field of Art in this century and its possibility toward the opcning of a new era is tributed to the genius of Rodin. Man, the most favorite theme in the work of art since time immemorial, is once again the important subject of our time and there is no doubt that we are doing our fair share to discover the true meaning of it by creating a new image of man from our own days. The modern man expressed in the world of the world of sculpture reflects the particlarities or today. we observe a man who has been experienced the unbearable alienation in the midst of social drama; industrization of a nation, drastic change of politicai philosophy and the termoil of the two great wars. An attempt to define and interprete the modern man depicted in the sculptural art work of today is made in this essay. The effort concentates on differentiating the type of man reflected in the art in several groups and an observation of the particular development of each group in its evolvement. The study eleborates the chronology of the modern time is its state of affairs, historical setting of the art and tries to unveil the intrinsic elements responnidle of producing the modern man himself. A comparative study between the man expressed in sculpture of the past and today is adopted to their contrast and to discover how the man of the great antiquity in the world of art in his time has transfomed into the one in our time. Further effort is centered on the establishing a representative figure of modern man reflested in the stulpture of today by presenting the relationship between some of the artists and their works. Consummation of the task depends upon the extensive study on the particularities of the modern sculpture in dealing man in its dynamic aspect. finally, the man erpressed in the modern sculpture is envisioned in his renewed realzation of the space concept incorporation with his unavoidable feeling of alienation in the inflex of the machine-made culture of our time. The study reveals that the trend of the modern sculpture contrary to the prevailing tendency of the modern art in general toward the pursuing of the infinite abstract expressionism, is seaching for the true figure of man. no doubt, the guest for the true meaning of the man in the world of Sculpture will prey on the gallantry of the artists.;A,Rodin에 의해 獨自的 領域이 확대된 彫刻은 20세기에 들어서서 다양한 變化와 눈부신 창조의 꽃을 피운다. 彫刻의 끊임없는 主題인 人間의 모습은 20세기에서도 마찬가지로 人間像, 즉 現代의 人間像을 만든다. 工業化와 民主主義, 兩次 世界大戰, 人間의 疏外등 現代世界가 가지고 있는 特性이 彫刻에 나타난 人間像을 통해서 뚜렷이 나타난다. 이에 本 硏究는 現代彫刻에 나타난 새로운 人間像을 몇가지로 나누어 각기 類型의 전개과정을 考察하고 그 全體的인 特性을 다시 分類, 검토하여 20세기가 나은 人間像을 정리, 규명하는 것을 目的으로 한다. 본 硏究의 構成은 첫째, 現代世界의 時代的 區分, 時代的 狀況, 美術史的 背景을 살펴서, 現代에 나타난 人間像의 內面에 자리한 要因이 무엇인가를 규명하고, 둘째 現代以後의 人間像을 主題로한 彫刻들을 硏究하여 現代와 以前의 彫刻에 나타난 人間像의 相異点과 現代에로이 變化는 어떠한 것 이었나를 考察한다. 셋째, 20세기 彫刻의 特徵的 人間像을 力動的 人間像, 有機體的 人間像, 奇形化된 人間像, 客觀的 人間像으로 類型을 區分하여 각기 類型의 當爲性과 理論을 考察하고 作家와 作品의 例를 들어 뚜렷한 人間像의 形式을 定立시켜고 넷째, 現代彫刻에 나타난 人間像의 全體的인 特性을 機械文明과 人間疎外, 空間에 대한 새로운 認識, 抽象傾向으로 區分하여 硏究하였다. 硏究의 方法으로는 文獻硏究와 作品의 비교로 하였다. 本 硏究에서 얻어진 결론은 人間像이란 彫刻의 主題가 現代의 격심한 變化속에서도 민감하게 반응하여 美術史 全般에 걸쳐 확고하고 뚜럿한 영역을 확보하고 있다는 점과 現代 抽象의 性格을 깊이 받아드려 사실과 추상이 잘 융화된 표현으로 나아갔다는 점이다. 人間像이란 彫刻의 課題는 앞으로도 우리의 계속적인 探究의 對象이 될 것이다. 따라서 現在의 우리의 座標상의 또 다른 人間像을 定立시키기를 계속하여야 할 것이다.
