지표(index)의 중첩 구조에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 작품 제작 논문으로서 본인의 작품에 대한 이론적 배경과 실행방법들을 살펴보기 위한 연구이다. 포스트모더니즘이 20세기말 예술 형식의 논리적 귀결인지에 관한 불확실한 가정과 체제 내적 모순으로 붕괴되기 시작한 모더니티/모더니즘에 대한 대대적인 수정작업의 분위기 속에서 본인 작품의 본질인 조형 요소를 기호학과 신형식주의의 맥락에서 분석해 보고, 여기서 유추되는 흔적(index)개념에 따른 기호로서의 오브제와 이미지를 해석하고자 하였다. 더불어 작품의 형식이 작품 내적 구조에 어떠한 상호작용을 통해 이루어지며, 이를 통해 작품 전반에 흐르고 있는 조형 요소들의 다양한 자기주장을 본인의 조형언어로 분석해 보고자 한다. 우선, 본인의 작업은 선택된 일상의 오브제나 이미지의 기본형태에서 출발하여, 이들의 조합된 형(形)에 색(色)을 어떻게 중첩시킬 것인가에 중점을 두고 있다. 여기에서 중요한 것은 단순한 결합의 의미라기 보다는 그것이 순수 조형 언어들의 축적이며, 나아가 한 약호(code)에서 다른 약호로 전이시켜가면서 한 약호를 다른 여럿으로 대체시켜나가는 중층구조화를 지향한다는 것이다. 이렇게 병첩되는 각 층의 성격이 서로가 전혀 유사하지 않다는 면에서, 그리고 어떤 통일성이 있다 할지라도 그것이 적어도 ‘양식’이라는 전통적 개념의 축을 따르는 것이 아니라는 점에서, 사회 전반에서 목격되는 다원화 경형(Pluralism)의 특성을 타나낸다. 본 논문은 본인의 작품을 제시하고 분석해 보는 과정을 통해, 미흡한 부분을 진단하고 앞으로의 전개 방향을 모색하였다. 본인의 작업은 시각예술의 본질을 이루고 있는 순수 조형언어와 현실 세계 속에서의 조화로운 공존을 나름의 시각과 형식으로 접근하고자 하였다. 그 구체적인 방법으로 일상 생활에서 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 오브제(object)의 다양한 방법으로 개입되게 되었으며, 그를 통해 본인의 작업이 보다 열려져 있는 가능성으로 자리매김되길 고대한다. 요컨대 본인은 이러한 본인의 작업을 통해 이미지들이 작품의 구조 내에서 어떠한 요소로 구성되는지 그 체계를 파악해 보고, 각 요소의 중첩이라는 방법과 작품의 전체적인 구조 사이의 관계를 체계화시키는데 초점을 맞추어 보았다. 하지만 조형요소들의 다의적 기능을 충분히 살리기보다는 한정되고 일관된 시각에 맥을 맞추려는 기존의 틀을 완전히 벗어나지 못함으로써 더욱 심도있고 다각적인 모색을 놓치지 않았나하는 아쉬움이 있으며 추후의 작업에서 보완되어야 하리라고 본다. ;This paper is for my work production and is a study on the theoretical background and practicing method of my work. In the uncertain assumption if post modernism is a logical consequence of the late 20th century's art form and the atmosphere of correcting modernity/modernism staring to break down because if the absurdity of system, this study analyzes the essence of my work, modeling clements in terms of symbolic logic and neo-formalism, and translatics object and image as symbolic following the concept of index. Also, this study analyzes through what interaction the firm of my work is made in the inner structure of work, and various self assertions flowing in the overall work with my modeling language. First, my work starts from ordinary object or the basic form of image, and focuses on how this composed from overlaps colors. The important thing here is the accumulation of pure modeling language rather than meaning of simple union, and furtherly, it pursues overlapped structure transferring a code to another. In the sense that each llayer of his overlapped sturcuture is not alike with each other and it dose not follow the axis of traditional concept called 'mode', it shows the characteristics of pluralism. This paper diagnoses inadequate part and gropes for the direction of the future though the process of suggesting and analyzing my work. My work is an approach to pure modeling language comprising the essence of visual art and harmonious coexistence in reality with my own vision and form. As more specific methods, I use carious ways of object we can easily find in our ordinary life, and I export this will give and opportunity to my work with open possibilities. In short, this study places its focus on how images are composed in the structure of my work and the systemization of overlapping of each factor and relation to overall structure of work. However, I'm afraid that I did not completely escape from the existing frame trying to limited and coherent vision rather than vitalizing the multiful function of modeling elements, failing to make deeper and various approaches, and expect my following work will supplement all this insufficiency.
