dc.description.abstract본인에게 있어서 자연이란 본인의 삶과 작품세계의 터전이다. Nature has been a base of my life and my art world, Therefore, to view, fell, and to express Nature has been very natural and accustomed things to do. To learn a life and to develop sensitivities through Nature is considered as finding myself in a part of Nature. Thus, because, Nature has very close relationship with a spiritual and a physical life of a man, one could see that Nature has been a ongoing subject of a study in Eastern and Westerm culture, are history and general history for years. Through painting 'hills and streams(山水)', or a mountain-scape, I deviate myself from a dualism of a man and Nature. And I seek for possibilities of a unity between my view of Nature and life. First of all, in order to narrate this thought in the thesis. I study the historical and cultural notions of Nature in large aspect, 'hills and streams(山水)', and a mountain-scape. Then I narrate the meanings of the mountains which I directly experience resulting of myself to have an specific attitude the mountains, and the experience of the mountains. These stands of mountains due to the excercise of Nature, one must to pay attentions to the energy of the earth, and the movements and the charges of Nature on the whole. Understanding Nature Through the divination by configurations of the ground helps a man become one with Nature as a one organic being. I try to express mountains' endless exercise, harmony, and relation with using colors in reiterated matter. Thine layers of colors are applied on top of each others blending and creating new colors and spaces in between the layers, Similar to the Leonardo da Vinchi's 'sfumato' which adopts Nature as a existence, my reiterated use of color go beyond materiality and stillness of the time on a painting surface, instead provides deep spatiality and changes to a painting. The composition of my painting is also learned and expressed from intimate experiences with mountains, where I feel the vitality and energy of Nature with all my body and soul. Therefore, works of J.M.W. Turner that are painted based on his experiences with Nature's transcendental energy, and the landscape paintings of Gerhard Richiter that are painted 'like Nature', interest me presenting eternal possibilities of Nature's exercises and attitude of observing the world with a wide perspective. I acquire Nature by climbing to mountains, as well as taking a distant view of Nature. The concept of Eastern painting esthetic, a "Distant View(遠望)" has an attitude that observes, explores, performs the world with a boundless and a open view. Through the notion of "Distant View(遠望)", I welcome more possibilities and originality in the paintings and also in the world. And further more, I free myself and go beyond from the forms that are acknowledged visually or apparently. Then, with the attitude of obtaining the intrinsic meaning of Nature, I paint and stand in 'hills and streams(山水).'-
