아프리카 흑인 조각의 조형성 고찰

Abstract

It has recently begun that African negro fine arts in Africa known as Dark Continent attracts our attention, but fine arts historians have seldom taken any interest in the study of negro fine arts, and yet, it has been considered only as a historical fact by folk custom researchers. Due to these reasons, the study on negro fine arts has scarecely been doveloped. The purpose of our study lies in the observance of the affection on modern fine arts by means of observing the eternal life touch and specific formation which African negro have tried to express through the statues and masks of African fine arts. African civilization has come to an end by the Europeans to the African Continent where is the birth place of African negro fine arts. Africans have thought that eternal strength had been given to them by God, and this universe is connected with the strength, and as a result of human-beings' will power to control it, religion and art have been created. Their statues have been made of wooden materials which are easy to get in their living circumstances, and the formation differs from tribe to tribe, ranging from realism to abstract. The general characteristics are that head part is stressed as the nest of intellects, and body part is also stressed as the origin which connects mother and child, African fine arts were greatly recognized by Feuvism prior to the era of Picasso, and was influenced by the Cubism eversince. We have found that there is a lot of similaritises between the negro sculpture and the works of modern art. The method of inquiry used in our study is to consult and analyze a work as well as literature. The literatures used in here are aesthetics, fine arts history books, and books dealing with primitive arts or African art. The work is selected as the one having formative similarity between Affrican masks and modern primitive arts. In order to get the material of negro sculpture from a modern stand point, books about modern sculpture, primitive arts, and the way of cubism sculpture are arrangad aod analysed. Something like kinships between the overwhelemed life touch of negro fine arts and the works of artists coming from their religion are certanily giving a great influence on present modern artists.;암흑의 대륙으로 알려진 아프리카는 外部世界와 거의접촉이 없었고 아프리카 黑人美術이 現代에와서 사람들의 관심을 끌기시작했으나 美術史家들은 아프리카 美術에대한 관심은 거의표명하지 않았거나 민속학자들에게 역사적인 사실로만 인정케하였고 아프리카 美術硏究에대한 진전을 보지못하고 있는 설정이다. 그러므로 아프리카美術의 造形性과 現代美術과의 관계는 체계적으로 硏究되어야 할 과제이다. 本 硏究에서는 아프리카美術의 彫像, 假面을 통해 그들이 나타내고자했던 영원한 生命感과 독특한 造形性을 고찰하여 現代美術에 미친영향을 考察하는데 그 目的이 있다. 黑人美術의 發祥地인 아프리카는 유럽인들의 도항으로 말미암아 文明의 종말이 왔으며, 아프리카인들은 神으로부터 영원한힘을 물려받고 모든만물은 힘이 유연한 관계로 연결되어 있다고 생각하여 그것을 조종하려는 인간의 의지로 宗敎와 藝術이 생겨난것이다. 그들의 彫像은 주로 生活에서 쉽게구할수 있는 木材를 많이 사용했고 造形性을 부족에 따라 사실적인것부터 추상적인것까지 매우다량하지만 일반적인 특징으로는 머리를 知力의 서식처로 생각하여 頭部를 강조하였고 어머니와 아들을있는 源泉으로 胴體가 강조되기도 한다. 本 硏究에서 使用된 硏究方法은 문헌과 作品으로 比較分析하였고, 문헌은 美學 또는 美術史, 原始美術, 아프리카美術을 重点的으로 다룬 것이고, 作品은 주로 아프리카의 假面과 현대 프리미티브 美術作品에서 조형적인 유사성을 볼 수 있는 것으로 선정했다. 또한 現代에서 본 黑人彫刻의 資料를 얻기 위하여 現代彫刻에 관한 서적, 프리미티브아트, 큐비즘조각의 이론을 整理分析하였다. 現代에 와서 黑人美術을 인식한것은 P.Picasso이전에도 야수파화가들에 의해서 크게 주목을 받았고 그후 에도 입체파에 이르기까지 영향을 받았다. 黑人彫刻과 現代 美術作品을 比較한결과 그造形性에서 많은 유사점을 발견차였다. 黑人美術의 그 압도적인 生命力과 그들의 신앙에서나온 제작자와 作品사이에 끊을수 없는 혈연관계와, 같은 문제는 現代作家들에게 그 영향을 부여하고 있는 것이다.
