시적 경험의 과학적 분석과 시의 본질

Abstract

시대적 상황이 과학문명이나 제반학문의 발달에 의해서 변화 되어감에 따라 인간의 정신문화도 이와 함께 보조를 같이 해야 한다는 의미에서 시 역시 이에서 제외되지 않는다고 생각한다. 과거에는 시만이 인간에게 줄 수 있었던 정신, 영혼, 삶의 문제의 해답이 이제는 다른 정신과학의 분야가 대신할 수 있다고 할 때 시의 옹호를 위하여 다시 한번 시는 본지로가 가치, 혹은 기능에 대하여 재정리가 필요하다고 본다. I. A. Richards는 과학으로부터 시를 보호하기 위하여 시의 방법으로 과학적 방법을 사용했다. 그것은 시 자체에 관한 연구이기 보다는 시적 경험의 심리적 상태를 과학적이고 조직적인 체계로써 분석한 것이다. 이러한 시의 방법을 김기림은 이어받은 것이고 이 방법은 한국시에 있어 실험적인 첫 시도가 되었다. 그의 시의 방법 역시 Richards에 있어서 처럼 시학은 이제 형이상학이나 미학에서 벗어나 과학으로 쓰여져야 한다고 주장한다. 한편 한국의 재래의 시는 모두 자연발생적이고 감상성의 시로써 새로운 시의 방법에 의해 고쳐져야 한다는 것이다. 즉, 그의 새로운 시는 건강하고 명징한 명랑성의 시라 할 수 있다. 이제 여기서 김기림은 그의 시의 방법으로 한국시에 두가지 문제점을 남기고 있다. 이것은 한국시의 발전의 가능성과 함께 그의 시론의 한계가 되어 있다. 전저는 한국시에 “현대성”이라는 의미를 주입시키고 이로부터 전통과 현실에 대한 문제의식을 불러 일으킨 것이다. 후자는 그의 시론이 지적인 조직 체계를 너무 중시한 나머지 본질적인 시의 생명에서 멀어지게 된 것이다. 이에 한국시의 본질을 성숙시키는 길은 이 두 가지 문제점에 대한 끊임없는 수업과 정진에서 얻어질 수 있는 것이라 생각한다. 본고는 이러한 과학적인 방법에 의해 시를 분석하고, 해석하는 태도가 시의 생명인 본질과 얼마나 가까운 거리에서 논의될 수 있는지, 혹은 그러한 과학적인 분석에 의해 시 본연을 잃게 되는 것은 아닌지를 살펴보는 하나의 시도였다. 이제 그와는 다른 방법으로 시의 방법은 시 그 자체내의 필연적인 표현으로 저 자신의 법칙과 질서에 의해서 탄생된다고 보는 입장이 있다. 즉 시본질을 위하여 탐구해야 할 것은 바로 시 자체의 법칙과 질서이다. 이러한 의도 아래 한국시에 대표적 시인이라 생각되는 김소월과 한용운의 시학을 해명해 보아TEk. 그러나 어떠한 입장에서 시를 보든지 시의 본질, 시 본연에 대한 궁극적 관심을 잃지 않는 가운데서만 과학적이고 지적인 분석도, 관조적이고 직관적 투시도 가능한 것이라 생각한다.;In the sense that the spiritual culture of the human beings should keep abreast with the recent development of scientific civilization poetry, also should be parallel with this development . In the past poetry alone can be said to solve the human souls, but now, other spiritual scientific knowledges can supersede the poetry in solving men's mental problems. In this point, it is necessary that, poetiry, once again, should be reestablished in its function, nature, and evaluation for the sake of defending the poetry. I.A. Richards, in the analysis of poetry, used the scientific method in order to defend poetry against science. This way of analysis is scientifically and systematically organized one of the psychological states of the poetic experiences. Kim Ki-rim succeed to this method, which experiments the first attempt in the Korean poetry, and like Richards, insisted that poetry should be used as a science, away from metaphysics and aesthetics, and that traditional Korean poetry, which is spontaneous and sentimental, should be reformed by the new scientific method .That is new poetry in his opinion, should be healthy (not morbid and melancholy), clean and clear. Naw, here in this point, Kim Ki-rim presented two problems in the method of Korean poetry, which reflects the possibility in the development of Korean poetry and at the same time, the limits of his poetic theory. The first is the infusion of the 'modernity' in the Korean poetry3 and the conflict between reality and tradition. The second is the aloofness of the poetry in its nature due to the excessive emphasis on the intellectually organized system of his poetic theory. How in order to make nature the nature of Korean poetry, we should constantly study and research the two problems mentioned above. This thesis is an attempt to study the relation between the true nature or the Life of the poetry and the scientific analysis of the poetry, and to clarify whether the poetry itself Loses the true nature of it by the use of scientific analysis and interpretation. Being different from the scientific method, there's another attitude that poetry is born by way of its own Laws and principles as a necessary and inevitable expression. That is, for the sake of the true nature of the poetry we should research the laws and orders of the poetry itself. With the purpose of this, 1 studied the poetry of Kim So-wol and Han Yong-woon, who are the famous representative Korean poets. From whatever point of analysis of poetry, we should concern about the true nature and the essence of poetry and only by doing so, we can really have, an insight into the scientific or intellectual and intuitive or meditative method in interpreting poetry.
