순환적 생명의 사유공간

Abstract

생명력을 잃은 듯 한 나뭇가지에서 새 순이 돋아나고 꽃이 피어나고 낙엽이 지고, 다시 새 순이 난다. 겉으로는 정지한 듯 보이는 나무 한 그루에서도 미세하지만 역동적인 움직임이 계속된다. 이렇듯 자연의 생명체들은 어떠한 일련의 과정을 끊임없이 반복하며 순환하고 있는 것이다. 본인에게 생명은 언제나 의문부호를 달게 되는 영원한 경이로움의 대상이다. 그리하여 우주의 원천인 생명의 근원에 대해 끊임없이 사유하고자 하였다. 본 논문은 식물의 성장과 소멸 그리고 재생을 관찰하며 얻어진 사적인 경험을 바탕으로 자연의 순환적 생명현상을 살펴보고 그 속에서 미적 요소를 탐구하고자 하였다. 본론의 이론적 배경에서는 동양의 전통적인 인식 체계 속의 생명의 의미를 고찰하였다. 또 생명이 하나의 흐름을 지니고 끊임없이 순환하는 연속선상에 있다는 동양의 철학사상을 바탕으로 생명의 순환을 미적인 관점에서 재해석 하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 관련문헌을 토대로 동양의 전통적인 사유체계, 즉 유무상생(有無相生),공즉시색(空卽是色),음양오행(陰陽五行)에 담겨있는 자연의 순환적 생명에 대하여 설명하였다. 대상의 인식적 측면에서 서양 현대철학인 현상학과 앙리 베르그송 철학의 ‘직관(直觀)’에 대하여 알아보고, 식물이라는 소재의 생태적 성격을 고찰하였다. 표현및 방법에서는 식물을 통한 시간체험을 화면의 중첩으로 나타내고, 점과 선을 통한 실존적 사물의 표현과 유와 무의 유기적 공간 관계를 설명하였다. 본 연구가 현대의 일상에서 간과하기 쉬운 자연과 인간과의 근원적 관계를 되돌아보고, 일상의 존재인 식물을 토대로 순환의 원리로 이루어진 생명의 가치를 일깨우는 계기가 되기를 바란다. 미흡한 점들은 향후 작업을 통해 발전적으로 모색할 것이며 식물을 통한 생명의 사유 역시 다방면으로 계속 하고자 한다.;New shoot buds out of branches, which seem to have already lostvitality, flowers bloom, and leaves are fallen, and then, new shootsprouts again. Even in a tree that appears to stop living, delicate yetdynamic movements continue. Likewise, living things in nature keepceaselessly repeating and circulating a specific series of procedures. To this author, life is always an object of everlasting wonder, whichmakes me question about at any time. Thus, the study aimed tocontinuously cogitate the origin of life, which is the source of theuniverse. This study intended to look into the circulatory lifephenomenon of nature and seek aesthetic factors within thephenomenon based on private experience obtained through theobservation of the growth, death, and revival of plants. In the theoretical background of the main body, the study contemplatedthe meaning of life amidst the traditional cognizance system of theEast. Also, the study attempted to reinterpret the circulation of lifefrom an aesthetic perspective, based on the philosophical ideology ofthe East advocating that life is on the continuum of incessantcirculation in one stream. With this aim, the study explained thecirculatory life of nature, contained in the traditional speculationsystem of the East involving Yumusangsaeng(the mutual survival ofexistence and nonexistence), Gongjukjisaek(the existence of nature invarious forms of things), and the Yin and Yang and Five Elements,based on relevant documents. The study identified the ‘intuition’ ofHenri Bergson’s philosophy as well as phenomenology, the Westerncontemporary philosophy from the cognitive perspective of an object,and reviewed the ecological character of an object, called a plant. In the expression and methods of the work, the study delineated theexpression through overlapping on the screen, the expression ofexistential materials through dots and lines, and the relationship of theorganic space of existence and nonexistence. This study is hoped to become an opportunity to look back on thefundamental relationship between nature and humans, which may beeasily overlooked in contemporary daily life, and to arouse the value oflife, composed of the principle of circulation, from plants that areordinary existences. Any insufficiencies will be groped for in a moreprogressive manner through forthcoming works, and the speculation oflife through plants also will be continued in many quarters.
