부모의 양육행동, 또래관계의 질 및 청소년의 외로움간의 관계

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to examine the relations between parenting, quality of peer relationship, and loneliness in adolescents including a mediating role of quality of peer relationship between parenting and loneliness in adolescents. The subjects were 506 1st and 2nd grade middle school students (261 boys and 245 girls) living in Seoul and completed three kinds of questionnaires regarding parenting, quality of peer relationship, and loneliness in adolescents. Parenting, quality of peer relationship, and loneliness in adolescents were rated by adolescents themselves. Data were analysed by t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and regressions. The results of this study are as follows: First, adolescents of parents showing higher monitering perceived themselves as less lonely than those of parents showing lower monitering. Adolescents of fathers showing higher physical abuse/neglect perceived themselves as more lonely than those of fathers showing lower physical abuse/neglect. Adolescents of mothers showing higher neglect perceived themselves as more lonely than those of mothers showing lower neglect. Futhermore, boys of fathers showing higher physical abuse perceived themselves as more lonely than those of fathers showing lower physical abuse. Boys of mothers showing higher monitering perceived themselves as less lonely than those of mothers showing lower monitering. Girls of fathers showing higher physical abuse/neglect perceived themselves as more lonely than those of fathers showing lower physical abuse/neglect. Girls of mothers showing higher neglect perceived themselves as more lonely than those of mothers showing lower neglect. Second, when adolescents having higher quality of peer relationship perceived themselves as less loneliness than those of having lower quality of peer relationship. Third, adolescents of parents showing higher physical abuse/neglect perceived quality of peer relationship as lower than those of parents showing lower physical abuse/neglect. Adolescents of mothers showing higher monitering perceived quality of peer relationship as higher than those of mothers showing lower monitering. Futhermore, boys of fathers showing higher physical abuse perceived quality of peer relationship as lower than those of fathers showing lower physical abuse. Boys of mothers showing higher neglect perceived quality of peer relationship as lower than those of mothers showing lower neglect. Girls of parents showing higher neglect perceived quality of peer relationship as lower than those of parents showing lower neglect. Finally, quality of peer relationship played complete mediating roles between fathers' physical abuse/mothers monitering and loneliness in adolescents. Quality of peer relationship played partial mediating roles between mothers' neglect and loneliness in adolescents. Futhermore, quality of peer relationship played complete mediating roles between fathers' physical abuse and loneliness in boys. Quality of peer relationship played complete mediating roles between mothers' monitering/neglect and loneliness in boys. Quality of peer relationship played partial mediating roles between parents' neglect and loneliness in girls.;본 연구의 주 목적은 부모의 양육행동, 또래관계의 질 및 청소년의 외로움간의 관계를 비롯하여, 또래관계의 질이 부모의 양육행동과 청소년의 외로움간의 관계에 있어서 매개적 역할을 하는지 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해, 서울시에 위치한 2개의 중학교에 재학 중인 1, 2학년 506명의 남녀 청소년들을 대상으로 질문지법을 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 부모의 양육행동은 허묘연(2000)의 양육행동 척도를, 청소년의 또래관계의 질은 김진경(2002)이 개발한 또래관계의 질 척도를 이용하여 측정하였다. 외로움은 Rusell, Peplau와 Ferguson(1978)이 개발한 UCLA Loneliness Scale을 개정한 Russell, Peplau와 Cutrona(1980)의 Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale을 사용하여 측정하였다. 연구문제의 분석을 위해 변인들 간의 적률상관계수를 산출하였으며, 단순회귀분석 및 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년은 아버지의 감독이 낮고, 아버지의 학대 및 방임이 높다고 지각할수록 외로움을 보다 많이 경험하였고, 어머니의 감독이 낮고 방임이 높다고 지각할수록 외로움을 보다 많이 경험하였다. 성별로 살펴본 결과, 남자 청소년은 아버지의 학대를 높다고 지각하며, 어머니의 감독을 낮게 지각할수록 외로움을 많이 경험하였다. 여자 청소년은 아버지의 학대와 방임을 높게 지각하며, 어머니의 방임을 높게 지각할수록 외로움을 많이 경험한다고 보고하였다. 둘째, 남녀 청소년 모두 또래관계의 질을 긍정적으로 지각할수록 외로움을 덜 경험하였다. 셋째, 청소년은 아버지의 학대와 방임을 낮게 지각하며, 어머니의 감독을 높게, 학대와 방임을 낮게 지각할수록 또래관계의 질을 보다 더 긍정적으로 지각하였다. 성별로 살펴본 결과, 남자 청소년은 아버지의 학대가 높고, 어머니의 방임이 높다고 지각할수록, 여자 청소년은 아버지와 어머니의 방임이 높다고 지각할수록 또래관계의 질을 덜 긍정적으로 지각하였다. 넷째, 청소년의 또래관계의 질은 아버지의 학대와 외로움간의 관계에서 완전 매개적 역할을 하였다. 즉, 아버지의 학대는 청소년의 외로움에 직접적인 영향을 미치기 보다는 또래관계의 질을 통해 간접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 또한, 청소년의 또래관계의 질은 어머니의 감독 및 방임과 외로움간의 관계에서 각각 완전 및 부분 매개를 보였다. 즉, 어머니의 감독은 청소년의 또래관계를 통해 외로움에 간접적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 어머니의 방임은 청소년의 외로움에 직접적인 영향을 미침과 동시에 또래관계의 질을 통해 간접적인 영향도 미쳤다. 청소년의 성별로 살펴본 결과, 또래관계의 질은 아버지의 학대와 어머니의 감독, 방임과 남자 청소년의 외로움간의 관계에서 완전 매개 역할을 하였다. 또한, 또래관계의 질은 아버지와 어머니의 방임과 여자 청소년의 외로움간의 관계에서 부분 매개 역할을 하였다. 본 연구는 부모의 양육행동, 또래관계의 질 및 청소년의 외로움간의 밀접한 관계를 살펴봄으로써 부모의 감독과 긍정적인 또래관계의 질은 청소년의 외로움을 감소시키는 반면, 부모의 학대 및 방임 청소년의 외로움을 증가시키는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 부모의 양육행동과 청소년의 외로움간의 관계에서 또래관계의 질이 차지하는 매개적 역할을 통해, 또래관계의 질이 청소년의 외로움을 예측하는데 중요한 요인임을 밝혔다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.
