유·소년기 기억의 재인식에 의한 섬유조형 표현

Abstract

과거의 특정 시간으로 되돌아가 보는 것은 꿈꾸고 난 후 그것을 다시 기억해 내려는 과정과도 비슷하며 그 과정은 어려움을 갖고 있다. 그러나 기억의 모호한 영상 속에서도 분명히 느끼게 되는 감정들은 오랜 시간 동안 머릿속에 저장되어 행복감을 주기도하고 그 반대의 느낌을 주기도 한다. 이렇게 저장된 기억들은 과거의 일을 담고 있는 것과 함께 ‘나’의 성장 과정 속에서 자아를 형성하게 한 내용과 과정을 내포하고 있기도 하다. 기억의 광범위한 영역 중에서 특히, 어린 시절에 마주했던 기억 속에는 인간의 자아인식과 자아형성에 근원을 이루는 중요한 내용들이 내재되어 있다. 이렇게 내재되어 있는 내용들을 발견하는 것은 현재 배회하고 있는 불안정한 ‘나’에 대한 존재인식으로부터 자신을 안착 시켜주며, 또한 ‘나’라는 존재의 무게를 일깨워준다. 본 연구자는 자전적 기억의 시간탐구 과정에 있어서 어린 시절의 기억을 현재의 시각과 감성으로 재인식하여 표현하였다. 예술 활동은 본 연구자에게 있어 어린 시절의 기억을 찾아가는 것과 같은 맥락으로서 끊임없이 자아를 발견하고 삶의 의미를 깨달아 가는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구와 작품제작을 통해 자아의 진정한 모습을 발견함과 동시에 삶과 존재인식에 대한 불안정한 감정으로부터 정서적 치유의 과정을 갖고자 하였으며, 자아의 발견을 통해 고립되어 있는 나 자신의 세계로부터 타인과 소통하고자 한다. 본 연구는 문헌연구를 통해 포괄적인 어린 시절 기억의 영역으로부터 특히, 유·소년기 기억의 특징을 알아보고, 그 안에 내재 되어 있는 경험과 감정들이 자아형성에 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 살펴본다. 더불어 기억의 이미지를 예술로 표현한 작가들의 작품들을 분석한다. 작품의 연구주제 설정 및 조형표현에서는 기억이미지들을 드로잉을 통해 표현하고 실제 조형작업으로 연결하여 과거의 기억을 재인식한다. 작품은 9점을 제작하였으며 과거, 과거 속의 미래의 모습을 동일 공간 안에서 동시에 시각화 하는 표현방법을 연구하였다. 유소년기의 기억을 통해 얻어낸 드로잉 이미지들은 전사, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅, 콜라주와 스티치기법을 이용하여 표현 하였다. 본 연구자는 삶 속에서 빈번히 ‘나’의 존재를 망각하게 되고 절망하며 자신을 하찮게 여기고 있음을 알게 되었다. 이러한 존재에 대한 인식은 내면에 깊이 자리 잡고 있으며, ‘존재의 인식’으로부터 시작된 본 연구와 작업에서 가장 먼저 시도한 것은 ‘나’를 찾아가는 것이었다. 진정한 자아를 찾아가는 과정을 통해 어린 시절의 기억까지 거슬러 올라가게 되었고, 그 기억 속에 존재하고 있는 또 다른 나와 환경, 가족, 친구, 감정 및 다양한 경험들이 나 자신의 성장과정에서 내면적·외면적으로 중요한 영향을 끼쳤고, 현재의 자아를 형성하게 한 근원적 내용임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 본 연구자는 작품제작 과정 중 기억의 재인식에 의한 형상화를 통해 상상의 세계 속에서 경험할 수 있는 시간들을 현실의 시·공간 안에서도 꿈꾸고 실현할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 상상의 세계를 표현해 내는 것은 무한한 가능성의 세계를 경험하는 것과 같은 것임을 알게 되었다. 어린 시절의 기억을 현재의 시각과 감성으로 재인식하는 사고의 전환과 이를 섬유조형작품으로 제작하는 과정은 본 연구자에게 있어 조형예술활동에 커다란 동기부여가 되었고, 이를 실천해 나가기 위해 앞으로 더욱 깊은 사고와 탐구의지를 갖고 지속적인 연구를 수행해 나가야 할 것이다.;The memory of the childhood does not suggest consecutive images to us like clear consecutive pictures. Bringing back memories that is included at a special time in past is similar to reminding dreams after dreaming, and it is very difficult. However, in spite of vague images, they make us realize clear feelings, and call to mind for a long time, making us enjoy happiness or be in trouble. Those memories do not only have just simple events but also an important factor that has a effect on self-formation in 'our growth process'. Various memories that the research herself experienced in my childhood are graven on her memory more conspicuously and are usually used the main story in her artistic activities. I, the researcher, would realize that I very often efface the self-existence, despairs and hold cheap in her life. Artistic activities bring to me attention how important the self-existence is and make me dream an adventure to another world. As memories make my existence that is wandering place to place settle down in safe as artistic activities do. By retracing my past memories, I might look forward to my true own self of the present and dream 'me' in future. In the process of time quest of childhood, I might meet my other self, another environment, small feelings from the time and unique experiences, and from that, I am trying to express them through the present view and emotion and find out essential factors that have formed the present myself. Through critical apparatus from the literature research, I figure out that special marks of memories, experiences and emotions that reside in the childhood memories play a primary role for self-formation and analyze works of artist who expressed autobiographical memories in art. For presentation method of the theme, I visualize images of memories by drawing, reproduce the past memories through the practical works. 9 Works are designed to study a presentation method for showing the figures of the past, the past in the present, and the future in the past in the same space with a single sight. Images from memories of the childhood are expressed fiber drawing and objects and shapes reproduced by using transcription, collage, and stitch. My 9 Works visualize memories saved through small and unique experiences in the childhood and expresses them in fiber model. Turning back to the memories in childhood makes us feel happy and upset as the same time and also look upon the present self-figure through the past. I found out that times that we can meet in my brain can be dreamt and expressed in the real time and space by formation of memories in artistic works. And with the change of my cognition, I realized how much I am anxious to artistic activities. I surely understand that reproduction of something we dream can open way to travel a world with boundless potentialities. Therefore, from now on, I will take up a positive attitude for researches, struggle myself, and do research on my field.
