피조물로서의 존재인식을 표현한 섬유조형

Abstract

‘나’라는 존재는 누구인가. 나라는 존재는 어디서부터 왔으며 어떻게 존재하며 또 어떻게 존재하기를 원하는가. 인간은 근본적으로 자기 스스로에 대한 의문을 가지고 있고 이러한 의문은 인간이 세상을 살아가는 동안 발생하는 여러 관계들 속에서 더욱 심화된다. 이런 관계들 속에서 인간은 자기이해에 대한 욕구를 느끼고 그로써 자기존재에 대해 더 깊은 고민을 하며 존재에의 질문을 품는다. 실존하는 인간은 누구와도 같을 수 없는 개별자로서 구체적으로 존재하며 날마다의 실존하는 체험을 통해서 자기를 인식한다. 이렇게 형성되어지는 존재의 인식들은 인간의 내면 전반에 자리를 잡아 모든 생각들의 바탕을 이루며 한 인간의 삶을 지탱해 나가게 되는데 이는 그 인간이 세상과 소통하는 것에 있어서 중요한 역할을 한다. 신앙은 본인의 인식체계에서 가장 큰 틀을 이루는 것으로 본 연구자는 연구자의 신앙을 통해 형성된 불완전하고 유한한 인간으로의 자의식을 바탕으로 절대자에 의한 피조물로서의 존재인식을 가진다. 연구자는 신앙을 통해 확립한 개인의 존재인식을 조형예술로 표현함으로써 세상과 소통하고자 한다. 그리고 개인의 신앙을 바탕으로 이루어진 실존의 체험들을 조형의 언어로 표현함을 통해 예술이 자기표현 방법 중의 하나임을 보이고 동시에 연구자가 가진 존재의 인식을 새롭게 확인하고 재인식하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 연구자의 존재인식을 효과적으로 표현하기 위한 조형연구를 통해 8점의 작품을 제작한다. 작품제작은 연구자의 존재인식을 시각화하는 것에 중점을 둔다. 연구자의 존재인식은 기도자세를 한 인체형태를 통해 표현된다. 기도자세는 손을 모으고 고개를 숙인 일반적인 모습으로 표현되며 여기에는 존재를 인식하게 하는 모든 경험들, 즉 신과의 관계에서 이루어지는 모든 것들이 함축되어 있다고 본다. 표현된 인체형태는 존재로서의 상징적 의미를 지니고 기도자세를 한 인간의 실루엣 표현은 단순화된 이미지로써 신앙을 통해 확립된 본인의 존재인식을 함축하고 있다. 존재가 절대자에 의해 계속해서 빚음 받고 거듭남을 이루는 생명의 공간은 작품 속에서 고치의 이미지를 통해 표현된다. 작품은 올을 풀고 찢고 자르는 행위를 통해 변형된 면 거즈를 잘라 광목에 재봉으로 부착하여 표현한다. 변형된 면 거즈는 기존의 면 거즈가 지니는 질감과는 다른 새로운 질감을 보여주며 불완전한 존재이자 동시에 회복과 치유가 필요한 존재의 표현으로 나타난다. 조형예술로 표현된 개인의 존재인식은 본인 스스로를 더욱 이해하도록 하며 타인과 세상과의 관계에 있어 좀 더 발전적인 관계 맺기를 이끌어 낸다. 조형예술의 방식은 연구자 개인의 존재인식을 재확인하고 재인식하는 통로가 된다. 앞으로 계속되는 작업은 본인이 가진 신앙과 더불어 세계를 바라보는 데 있어 보다 성숙한 자의식을 확립토록 할 것이다.;Who am 'I' as a being? As human beings, we have questions about ourselves like 'Where did I come from?', 'How did I come into being?', and 'In what form do I want to exist?'. These questions intensify as we live in this world of relationships. In these relationships, we crave to know more about ourselves, go through agony about self-existence, and embrace questions concerning this matter. A human being exists as a unique individual, different from everybody. One can perceive oneself throughout everyday experience of existence. When these perceptions about existence come together, it is placed inside one's inner world and becomes the background of all thoughts, maintaining one's life. This is very important for understanding the mutual world. Faith secures the biggest part in a person's cognition system. As the investigator of this paper and as a believer in God, I have an incomplete and finite self -consciousness as my background and I perceive my existence as a created being. I would like to perceive my existence through formative arts and communicate with the world. As I follow my creative and artistic act, I would like to express my experience of existence through the language of modeling and show that art is an appropriate form of expressing oneself. At the same time, I would like to refresh myself and have a new perception of existence. This research will contain eight pieces of work to express my perception of existence effectively. The production of work will concentrate on visualizing the perception of existence and it will be expressed as a human body in its praying form. The praying posture is expressed in a general form with its hands together and head bowing down. Here, things which are experienced during the process of percepting oneself and everything in relation with God are significant. The form of a human being symbolizes existence and the silhouette of a person in its praying form is a simple, significant way of expressing the perception of existence which is established by faith. The image of a cocoon in the piece expresses a enduring space where a being is shaped again by the absolute being. It symbolically expresses a space of life which forms rebirth. Cotton gauze will be varied by undoing, ripping, and cutting its plies. It will then be cut and sewed on to a cotton cloth by machine. Varied cotton gauze will have a new texture and this will express a being who is incomplete and in need of recovery and healing. My perception of existence which will be expressed through formative arts will help understanding myself better and it will allow other people to make a little more promising relationships in the world. Formative arts is a passageway of refreshing myself to have a new perception of existence. My work in faith will also help me to mature my self-consciousness in looking at the world.
