어린 시절 자전적 기억의 섬유조형 표현

Abstract

어린 시절 기억을 회상하는 것은 곧 자신의 자서전과 같은 삶에 대한 이야기이며 이를 통하여 현재의 나 자신에 대해 새로운 눈으로 바라볼 수 있는 자기성찰의 시간을 가져다준다. 이때의 기억은 어른으로 성장해서 일상을 살아가는데 있어 행복감을 느끼게 하는 근원적 바탕이 된다. 본 연구자는 과거의 시간을 더듬어 올라가 어린 시절의 기억을 회상해 보게 되었다. 쌍둥이로 태어나 자라온 어린 시절의 여러 기억들은 현재까지 이어져오고 있으며, 그 시절 쌍둥이 자매와 함께한 경험들은 친밀한 유대감을 갖게 하였고 정서적인 부분들을 공유할 수 있는 매개체가 되었다. 본 연구는 개인적인 쌍둥이 자매와의 어린 시절 기억의 이미지들을 섬유조형으로 표현하여 과거의 시간으로부터 현재 자신의 삶을 되돌아보는 기회를 모색하며 일상의 행복감의 근원을 찾아보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 기억과정의 특징, 그 중 어린 시절 기억의 특징을 문헌을 통하여 고찰하고 기억의 이미지를 예술로 시각화한 예술가들의 작품들을 분석한다. 작품주제의 표현을 위한 어린 시절의 기억이미지는 과거의 사진으로부터 선택 하며, 사진이미지는 컴퓨터에서 포토샵 프로그램을 이용하여 단순화 시킨 후 작품제작에 활용한다. 또한 쌍둥이 자매의 인물이미지를 패턴으로 만들어 규칙적 또는 불규칙적으로 화면에 반복하기도 한다. 작품제작을 위한 주제의 표현방법과 기법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 포토샵 작업으로 만들어진 기억의 이미지들을 폴리에스테르 노방에 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅을 하고 재봉틀을 이용한 스티치를 하여 섬유 드로잉을 한다. 둘째, 노방의 얇고 비치는 소재의 특성을 이용하여 노방과 노방의 중첩 효과를 전체적 또는 부분적으로 표현한다. 셋째, 노방 뿐 아니라 레이스 천을 꼴라쥬 하거나 바탕 레이어를 오려내는 과정을 통해 노방의 다양한 질감 표현을 유도한다. 넷째, 작품의 전체적 색상은 파스텔 톤으로 하여 포근하고 부드러운 이미지를 표현하고자 한다. 본 연구자의 작품 9점은 개인적인 어린 시절의 기억을 표현주제로 시각화 하고자하며, 섬유 질감 표현과 섬유 드로잉을 통해 쌍둥이 자매와의 행복했던 기억을 섬유조형으로 표현하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통하여 현재까지 이어져오는 행복감의 근원에 대해 재인식할 수 있는 시간이 되고자하며, 어린 시절의 기억 이미지를 시각화 할 수 있는 효과적인 조형언어를 찾고자 한다.;To recollect the memories in the childhood is to read the stories about oneself as in an autobiography and through this activity, one gains a time for self-reflection to look into oneself of present moment with new eyes. The memories at this point still form the fundamental background for happiness with which we need to carry out our routine life once we grow into an adult. I came to recollect the memories of my childhood by going back over the times in the past. Many memories of my childhood grown up as a twin are still continued today and the experiences I had with my twin sister at that time make me form a close familiarity with her and become the media through which I can share a lot of emotional parts of my life. This study expresses the memories of the childhood with the twin sister as a fabric-modeling art and seeks an opportunity to reflect upon my life from the past to present, aiming to discover the origin of happiness in the routine life. In this study, the characteristics of the memory-formation process and especially of the memory in the childhood were examined through a review of literature and the art works which expressed the image of memories as a modeling art were analyzed. The childhood memories expressed by this author were selected from the picture records of the past and they will form a great medium for re-carving the past. By simplifying the background in the childhood pictures or patternizing the twin image as a motif, I expressed them through regular or irregular arrangement. I intended to express the memories with a soft and tender image of the pastel tones overall. As an expression method, I aimed to utilize the fabric collage, superposition, and repetition of images in order to express various material feelings of fabric. Using the photo-shop program, I simplified the picture images and performed digital printing on the polyester, making fabric drawing by stitching and using a sewing machine. Using the material characteristic of polyester which is light and transparent, I gave the superposition effect of polyester and through overlapping the lace fabric and cutting out the layer of the background fabric, the various material feelings of polyester were induced. Through this process, I tried to create a feeling of the gap between the past and the present and to model the images of memory. The nine works of mine attempted to visualize my own childhood memories as the theme of expression; and through expressing the material feelings of fabric and drawing on fabric, I intend to express the happy memories with my twin sister as a fabric modeling. From this process, I aimed to make a time for re-perceiving the origin of happiness that has been continued until today. Through this study, I intended to seek an effective modeling language that can visualize the image of the childhood memories from now on.
