숨쉬는 풍경

Abstract

현대예술에서 작가들이 2차원의 평면인 회화에서 벗어나 현실 공간을 탐구하기 시작한 것은 대단히 의미 있는 일이다. 현대예술에는 장소와 공간이 가진 중요성을 부각시키고 그것을 다루는 작가들이 많다. 인간이 처한 공간에 대한 의미를 찾는 것은 자신이 생활하는 의미를 찾는 것과 같기 때문이다. 공간과 그 속에 속한 자신과의 관계를 이해하는 것은 세계의 구조를 파악하는 출발점이라고 할 수 있다. 과학의 발달로 이전의 시대보다 더 미세하게 혹은 더 거시적인 관점에서 세계를 파악할 수 있게 되었다. 이처럼 관점이 변화할 수 있는 시대에 어떤 시각으로 세계를 견지할 것인지 되짚어 보는 것은 중요하다. 전자현미경을 통한 내부를 들여다보는(close-up) 관점을 통해 미시적인 시각을 가질 수 있다. 반면에 항공사진이나 지도 등의 이미지를 통해서는 멀리서 본 시각을 가질 수 있다. 인간을 우주 속에서 작은 존재로 보는 불교 사상이 본인이 세계를 이해하는 데 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 본인은 선불교 사상은 통합적인 관점에서 인간 세상을 파악하는 데 도움을 주었다. 본인은 한 가지 관점에만 치우치지 않고 두 가지 관점을 통합하여 세계를 파악하는 접근 방식을 유지하고자 하였다. 이와 같은 관점을 유지하면서 본인이 속해 있는 장소와 공간을 표현했을 때 이미지의 형태적인 특성을 살펴보았다. 본인의 작품에서는 추상적인 형태가 구체적인 형태도 변형되는 과정에 있는 이미지가 등장한다. 들여다보는 것과 밖으로 나와서 관조하는 시선을 반복하면서 각각의 관점을 유지할 때 드러나는 유사한 형태적 특성을 찾을 수 있었다. 본인은 두 가지 형태가 분별되지 않는 모호한 지점을 새로운 표현의 가능성으로 보았다. 세계에 대한 통합된 관점을 바탕으로 공간을 표현하면서 그것을 풍경으로 제시하고자 하였다. 풍경은 본인이 생각하는 바람직한 세계에 대한 상(象)이 반영된 것이다. 그것은 외부에서 내부로 들여다보는 관점을 가질 때는 내적 풍경으로 나타나고 내부에서 외부로 관심을 돌릴 때에는 외적 풍경의 형태로 나타난다. 작품에 따라서는 내적 풍경과 외적 풍경이 함께 드러나는 경우도 있다. 내적 풍경에서는 생명체 내부의 생물학적 특성을 이야기하고 있다. 그 특성으로 유기적인 구조와 순환하는 공간을 제시하였다. 또 여성적인 감성으로 공간을 새롭게 구성하는 작품들도 살펴본다. 외적 풍경에서는 본인이 거주하는 장소에 대한 고찰을 바탕으로 그 장소성을 가지는 공간에 대해 이야기한다. 내적 풍경을 표현하는 것은 존재에 대해 내면적으로 깊이 있게 성찰을 할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 반면에 외적 풍경을 표현하는 것은 본인이 속한 장소를 객관적인 시각으로 바라보고 정체성을 확립하는 데 도움이 되었다. 또 본인이 가진 장소감을 작품에 반영하여 직접 체험하고 있는 장소에 대해 다시 한 번 생각해보는 기회가 되었다. 본인은 본 논문이 인간 정체성 형성의 바탕이 되는 공간과 장소를 다양한 각도에서 접근하여 인간과 세계에 대한 깊이 있는 이해에 도움이 되고자 하였다.;Many contemporary artist tried going out of the secret room, the atelier to find a way out. It is very significant to start exploring the real space escaping plane screen, space of two dimensions. There are many artist who raise the importance of space and place and deal with them. Finding the meaning of the space that humanbeings live is understanding the meaning of one's living. Understanding the space and one's relationship with the place is the starting point of grasping the structure of the world. This situation says that questioning about them and finding the answer is necessary to establish one's identity. We can have a new visual point because scientific field achieved remarkable development on the microscope and the space science. So it is very important to think about the new viewpoint on the world in the contemporary art field. Close-up viewpoint looking through the electronic microscope makes us have micro-viewpoint. On the other hand we can have macro-viewpoint through the aerial photographs and maps. Buddhism considering a human being as a small being effected on me understanding the world. Especially I have resorted to Zen Buddhism on the combined viewpoint. I tried to keeping the approaching way of combining the two viewpoint. Maintaining the combined viewpoint when I express the spiritual space in my place, I looked around the feature of the shape. In my work new image appear changing from the abstract shape to the concrete shape. I find ambiguous shape emerging on the contrary viewpoint. I consider the ambiguous image as the new possibility of expression. When I express the space I present it as the landscape. The landscape reflects the desirable feature of the world. On the micro-viewpoint it is internal landscape. On the macro-viewpoint it is external landscape. There is a few works including the internal landscape and the external landscape together. In the internal landscape I show the biological feature of life. It means the organic structure and the circulating space. And I examine the works that organizing the space with the feminine sensibility. In the internal landscape I show the space that has a sense of place. So I looked back over the place where I have lived. Expressing the internal landscape I could examine myself deeply. And Expressing the external landscape I could contemplate the place I live. Researching the place is the basis of human identity formation. It is about the viepoints coming outside from the inside and coming inside from the outside. I hope this thesis founded on the various viewpoint help us understand the human and the world profoundly.
