실존의 덩어리를 통한 치유

Abstract

인간의 꿈은 마음 속의 무의식적 요소가 잠을 자는 동안 표출되는 것으로, 다층적 심리 요소들과 상징들이 결합된 신비롭고 흥미로운 인간 정신활동의 하나이다. 이러한 꿈 속의 언어와 상징들은 우리에게 자신도 의식하지 못한 중요한 의미를 전달하기도 한다. 본 연구는 반복되는 꿈 속의 일련의 이미지를 모티브로 진행되었다. 본 작업의 모티브가 된 꿈 속에서 반복되었던 장면은 입을 통해서 알 수 없는 이물질들이 계속해서 배출되는 것이었고, 이 꿈의 의미에 대해서 생각하게 되었다. 이 이물질들이 입을 통해 배출되는 것을 내 안의 욕망과 상처의 덩어리들이 나로부터 분리되고 승화되는 과정으로 해석하고, 이것을 시각화하는 과정을 통해 이 덩어리에 담겨 있는 한 개인의, 나아가서는 현대인의 실존을 살펴보고 더불어 이에 대한 치유를 하는 것을 이 연구의 목적으로 한다. 먼저 본 연구에서 쓰여지고 있는 실존의 의미를 정의하고, 인간의 실존과 현대인의 실존을 살펴보았다. 본인은 인간 실존의 모습을 절망으로, 현대인의 실존을 파편화된 것으로 보고, 이러한 인간 실존의 극복 방법으로서 기독교적인 사상을 배경으로 치유의 가능성을 찾아보고자 하였다. 이 연구의 작업에서 치유의 방법으로 사용된 것은 기도와 노래를 들려주는 행위를 상징하는 작품으로 나타나는데, 노래와 기도는 인간 영혼의 염원을 표현하고 건드리는 매우 매력적이고 영적인 수단으로 등장한다. 꿈 속에 등장하는 입을 통해 배출되는 이물질과 연결되는 이미지로서 나의 내면의 감정과 소망, 꿈과 욕망이 합쳐진 덩어리 또는 결정체에 대한 상상을 하게 되었다. 본 연구에서 중요한 요소로 등장하는 이 덩어리가 가지는 의미 를 먼저 규명하여 작품의 이해를 도왔다. 본 연구에서는 꿈 속의 내용을 재현하거나 디테일을 따라가기 보다는,꿈 속의 상징적인 인상을 바탕으로 재구성된 7개의 작품이 하나를 이루어 의미 있는 공간을 형성하게 된다. 꿈속의 심상을 시각화하고 표현함으로써 이 이미지가 가지는 상징적 의미를 해석하고, 그 속에 담긴 개인의 나아가서는 현대인의 실존의 문제를 살펴보았다. 또한 이 실존의 문제를 신에게 의지하여 노래하며 극복자하고자 하여, 치유의 경험을 이끌어내고자 하였다. 실재의 작용이 아닌 꿈의 이미지이긴 했지만, 그 경험이 신체를 기반으로 한 인간의 근원을 건드리는 경험이라는 점에 주목하여 신체와 그 경험에 대하여 알아보고, 이와 같은 태도로 작업하는 Kiki smith의 작품을 통해 그 연결고리를 찾아보았다. 본 연구를 통해 꿈속에 담겨있는 개인의, 나아가서는 현대인의 내면의 갈등과 고통을 해소하는 과정들을 표현함으로서, 내 자신의 내면과 인간의 근원적인 존재의 모습을 관찰하고 극복하는 의미 있는 과정을 경험하고자 하였다.;Dream is the expression of human's unconscious elements from your inner minds during sleep. Dream, generated by the psychological elements and symbolic images, is one of the most interesting and mysterious functions of the mind. Sometimes the language and symbol of dream will deliver an important message which we did not recognize. My work started from the motive from the repeated image of my dream. The image which was repeated in my dream was discharging of unknown fluids from my mouth, and I kept myself thinking about the image. I interpreted this image as the separating and sublimating process of the lumps (lumps of desire, emotion and wound) within me. Through the visualization of this image im my work, I try to learn about my own existence and the human existence inside the lump. It includes times of painful and confusing memory and I aim to heal this in the process of my work First of all I will refer to the definition of existence which is used in my thesis to explain about the lump. I see the human existence as despair and the modern man's existence as the fractured self, and as to overcome these desperate human existence, I try to find the possibility of healing in the christianity. In this study, I try to heal the lumps of wounded existence through the song and prayer. Song and prayer are very spiritual and powerful way to heal our minds, they are used in my work as a way of healing. There is this image of lump which is connected to the image im my dream, the discharging of unknown fluids from my mouth. One day, the fluids came out from me and formed a lump. The lumps were created combination of our inner desire, dreams, emotions, chemicals and lots of prayers. They were compressed in my body with certain strength within myself.They are also unsatisfied or unfulfilling dreams, wounds and prayers I murmured to myself. I try to define the meaning of this lump which is very important im my study, to help the understanding of my work. In this study I did not try to follow the details of the dream but I tried to remake the symbolic image from the dream. 7 works are to be seen and interpreted as a meaningful scene as a whole. As I visualize and express the image in my dream I try to interpret the symbolic meanings of my dream and lumps as the process of my wounds and unsatisfied desires separating from me. Also I try to heal and overcome the wounded human existence through the songs and prayers. I try to draw the experience of healing im ny work. It was not real but a image from my dream, but the experience is based from our body. I noticed this body experience linked to the group of comtemporary artists who work with the themes of body and it's experience. In my study I try to study women artist, Kiki Smith who work with this kind of attitude. In this study, as I express the separation of inner pain and wound , I try to observe myself and human existence and try to experience the process of healing.
