The more developed a society becomes, technology and advancement in civilization provides human life with many conveniences therefore it is only natural for human beings live to nourish the result of human and social development to the full. With the introduction of the internet, information is accessible from almost all parts of the world and the recent phenomenon allows us to have access to the internet even while we are traveling. The word 'ubiquitous', meaning 'ever-present', or 'everywhere' in Latin, signifies quite appropriately, what is happening in our society today, the existence of virtual reality created by the internet and physical reality that we live in. With the touch of one button our lives are managed and restricted, this is significant for the technical evolution of our contemporary society. We call this the era of digital influence where technology and life has integrated into one. In 1988, Professor Lee, Oyoung stated that the key word to the future, that relates to contemporary social changes observed from a cultural point of view, is DIGI-LOG. 1988 was a period in Korea when the Seoul Olympic Games were taking place and Korea was undergoing many changes both in terms of economics and politics. Professor Lee stated that the period combined analog with digital advancement in technology. In this respect this study attempts to questions the type of Digilog necessary for these current times seen again from a cultural point of view. Furthermore how should this notion be integrated into ceramics, an important cultural asset of Korea. This is where the research for this study begins. Before stepping ahead to discuss about Digilog it is important to understand the conception behind this term which combines digital and analog systems. In actual fact the term digital signifies 0 and 1, comparable to the On?Off mechanical relationship. In the contemporary society this has gone beyond its original definition to become a paradigm, recognized as a culture that is comparably more convenient and precise to the past. However, as the society advances more and more in terms of digital development, the appearance of side affects is also evident and the phenomenon results from the difficulty in coping with the sheer speed and this aspect can be looked upon as the analog side of society. Analog defines the existence of infinitely many number possibilities between 0 to 1. In other words, although it is not possible to explain exactly in words the precise answer for this, still the possibility of stating their existence is correct and definite, representatively the human emotion. Evidently in terms of conception, digital is the opposite to analog and it may appear to differ. However in one society the two exist not as opposing factors but as co-existing to harmonize together. After all digital devices and machines are based on human beings and we are the ones who develop these devices. The study focuses on these elements with a cultural viewpoint to apply the conception of Digital combined with Analog into creative clay work. Research work was conducted to understand the two terminologies. Images relating to the conceptions were found and included. The study examines how the two aspects can be combined to co-exist in today's contemporary society. For this artworks made in different nations were also taken into consideration. The clay works can be divided into four sections. The first shows the basic phenomenon of Digilog, The second presents significant for the negative aspects of Digilog, The third highlights the positive aspects of Digilog, and finally portrays the future of Digilog as foreseen by the researcher. It is important to understand the theories behind Digilog and to examine how they can be applied to the ever-changing character of contemporary society. The clay pieces were made using the coiling, wheel-throwing, slab-building and press-molding techniques. The shapes determined the choice of technique. A variation of clay bodies were used but many were made from stoneware clay bodies (two different types). The surface was treated with color slips, pigments, oxides in combination with transparent glaze. With the oxides, some areas where wiped away before glazing. The works were either brushed on with glaze or dipped. The firing was conducted in a 1.5㎥ gas kiln. The first firing reached a temperature of 800℃, in 8 hours. The second glaze firing was taken up to 1260℃in 9 hours. There were oxidation firings. Some pieces were pit-fired and some underwent third firings for different effect. The third firings were conducted in a 0.3㎥ electric kiln, reaching a temperature of 1050℃. The study showed that there were difficulties in defining the term Digilog in order to translate it into clay work. However the process was interesting and the attempt was to reflect an aspect of contemporary society into one-off ceramic pieces. It encourage me to observe details that I would normal not recall or consider. I discover that the society we live in provides amply inspiration for creative work.;사회가 점점 발달하면서 우리는 문명의 이기를 충분히 누리면서 살고 있다.
