이응노의 문자추상을 응용한 자카드 텍스타일 디자인

Abstract

고대 인간의 의생활은 신체의 보호를 위한 것이었는데 현대에 와서는 자기 표현, 가기 노출의 풍부함을 창조하는 관념으로 발전되었다. 특히 고도로 발전된 과학기술은 풍부한 섬유 소재의 개발을 불러 일으켰다. 그러나 아무리 훌륭히 개발된 소재일지라도 그 소재의 부가가치를 높여 줄 텍스타일 디자인이 미흡하다면 그 상품가치는 떨어질 것이다. 오늘날 소비자들의 요구는 점점 더 다양화, 개성화 되어가고 있으며 패션제품의 수명이 점점 짧아지고 패션의 주기가 단축되어 새로운 텍스타일 디자인에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있다. 이것은 최근 패션제품이 패션성과 제품의 부가가치를 높이기 위한 방법으로 소재의 중요성을 재인식함에 따라 패션제품에 있어서 텍스타일 디자인이 중요한 위치를 차지하게 되었다. 텍스타일 디자인의 창의성과 심미성이 중요시 되고있는 현재 텍스타일 디자인 흐름 속에 동서양의 문화적 차이는 값진 것이라 할 수 있다. 동서양 모두 끊임없이 서로에게 배우면서도, 동시에 자신들의 고유한 정체성을 보존하는 것은 매우 어렵지만 바람직한 일이며, 잠재되어 있는 고유한 문화와 예술에 관심을 가져야 한다고 보았고 이에 본 연구자는 다음과 같은 목적으로 작품제작에 임하였다. 첫째, 자카드 텍스타일 디자인과 예술과의 접목을 통한 새로운 조형요소들을 발견함으로서 창조적 디자인을 개발할 수 있는 가능성을 찾아내고자 하였다. 세계적으로 인정받은 예술 작품과의 접목을 통하여 심미적이고 차별화된 텍스타일 디자인 소재를 개발하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 둘째, 이응노의 작품 본질을 체계적으로 분석하여 자카드 텍스타일 디자인으로 개발하고자 하였다. 이응노의 문자추상은 국제무대에서 인정받은 동양적인 문자를 이용한 추상적인 형태를 갖춘 작품으로 반복되는 디자인의 크기가 비교적 작은 자카드 텍스타일 디자인의 모티브로 응용함에 있어서 매우 적합하다고 보았다. 이러한 목적 아래, 이응노 만의 독특한 세계인 문자추상의 특성과 기법을 고찰한 후, 개성적이고 독창적인 디자인을 제시하여 여성 의류에 사용할 수 있도록 자카드 텍스타일 디자인으로 제작하였다. 이응노의 문자추상을 응용하여 자카드 텍스타일 디자인으로 제작한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론에 도달하게 되었다. 첫째, 예술과 디자인과의 접목이 텍스타일 디자인 개발차원에서 발전적인 방향으로 전개되어져야 한다는 것이다. 텍스타일 디자인은 일반 예술과는 다르게 생산과 유통, 판매의 목적을 갖는다는 것을 염두해 두고 디자인을 개발하여야 하며, 특히 예술 작품에서 고유한 문화적 요소를 찾아내어 텍스타일 디자인으로 개발하는데 방향을 맞추어야 한다. 둘째, 이응노의 문자추상은 서구적인 감수성과 동양적 기법의 만남으로 볼 수 있으며 자카드 텍스타일 디자인으로 응용함에 있어서 무한한 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 문자추상이 가지고 있는 추상적인 문자의 형태에서 나오는 리듬감과 동양적인 곡선의 율동을 반복적인 패턴을 이용하여 자카드 텍스타일 디자인으로 응용함에 있어서 매우 용이하며 표현의 폭이 넓다. 국제 시장에서는 이미 패션산업이 소재에 따라 좌우되고 있으며 텍스타일 디자인에 대한 인식이 지배적이다. 독창적이고 참신한 텍스타일 디자인 개발은 선진국과의 디자인 격차를 좁히는 역할을 할 것이다. 섬유산업의 도약적인 발전을 위하고, 세계적인 패션 브랜드를 만들며 다품종소량생산체제 구축 및 제품의 고부가가치화를 위해서 예술과의 접목을 통한 디자인 개발은 감성적이고 창조적인 텍스타일 디자인을 개발하는데 중요한 역할을 담당할 것이다. ;Clothing habits of ancient people were for protecting their bodies but were developed into the idea of creating the abundance of self-expression and self-exposure in the modern times. In particular, highly developed technology caused abundant textile material to be developed. No matter how the material are excellently developed, it can deteriorate the value of merchandise in case of the deficiency of textile design to heighten value added of the material. Today, consumers' requests are being gradually diversified and individualized and the expected life span of a fashion product is gradually shortened and the period of fashion is reduced. Such phenomena are increasing due to the demand for a new textile design. Consequently a textile design has occupied an important position in a fashion product as the importance of material is again recognized when the product is recently used as the method for enhancing fashionability and the value added. The cultural differences between the East and the West can be said to be valuable in the flow of current textile design attaching importance to creativity and aesthetic of a textile design. It is very difficult but desirable for both of the East and the West to continue to learn each other and simultaneously preserve their own proper identities. I, the researcher, saw that they had to take interest in their latent proper culture and art, and herewith produced a work for the following purposes. First, I wanted to find the possibilities of developing creative design by discovering new plastic elements through grafting Jacquard textile design into art. I wanted to present the plans for developing aesthetic and discriminated material for a textile design through grafting it into a world-famous work of art. Secondly, I systematically analyzed the essence of Lee Eungno's works and wanted to develop them by Jacquard textile design. I saw that as a work in an abstract form of using Oriental character approved in international stage his character abstraction was very suitable in being applied as the motive of Jacquard textile design with a relatively small size of repeated design. For such purpose I investigated the characteristics and techniques of character abstraction, the world peculiar to Lee Eungno, and produced it by Jacquard textile design so that it could be used for women's clothes by presenting original design of individuality. As a result of applying his character abstraction and producing it by Jacquard textile design I came to reach the following conclusions. First, art should continue to be grafted into a design towards a developmental direction on the level of developing textile design. One should develop design keeping in mind that a textile design has a purpose of production, distribution and sale differently from general art, and especially focus on finding out proper cultural elements in a work of art and developing them by a textile design. Secondly, Lee Eungno's character abstraction can be seen as the interface between Western sensibility and Eastern technique and includes infinite possibilities in being applied by Jacquard textile design. It is very easy and broad in expression to apply with the use of a repeated pattern by Jacquard textile design ; a sense of rhythm and the rhythm of Oriental curves coming from the form of an abstract character in character abstraction. In an international market the fashion industry has already been depended on material and a textile design is the most important element. The development of an original and refreshing textile design will play the role of narrowing the difference between Korea and developed countries in design. The development of a design through grafting it into art for achieving radical development in the fiber industry, for producing a worldwide fashion brand, for constructing multikind small-quantity production system, and for providing a product withhigh value added will play an important role in developing sensible and creative textile design.
