Romantic Ballet의 社會的 考察

Abstract

인간은 사회적 존재로서 서로의 연관성에 의해 비로소 個體를 의식하게 되며, 문화적 차원의 예술을 통하여 그 시대와 사회를 認識한다. 그 중 무용예술은 인류의 발생과 그 기원을 같이하고 있으면서 流動하는 역사의식 속에서 발전한 가장 인간적인 예술이라 할 때, 이를 사회적·역사적으로 考察함은 발레 예술의 사회적 脈絡을 파악하는 데 있어서 必要不可決한 것으로 생각된다. 본 논문에서는 무용예술 속의 사회와 역사를 고찰하는 데 있어, 인간을 호모루덴스(Homo Ludens) 즉 "놀이하는 인간"으로 보는 호이징하(J. Huizinga)의 見解를 溶解하면서, 올드리치(V. Aldrich)가 보는 무용의 예술철학적 특징에 접근하여 그 바탕을 분석하는 한편, 오너(S.M. Honor)와 훈트(T.C. Hunt)의 견해를 참조 하였다. 그리하여 객관적으로서의 사회적 풍조와 주관으로서의 예술관 사이에서 일어나는 서로의 상응관계를 살펴보았고, 그 결과 무용예술이야말로 역사의식이 介入된 집합의식을 통일성있게 표현하는 예술형태라는 점을 재확인할 수 있었다. 또한 프랑스 혁명으로 인해 비로소 국민적 대중문화로 확산, 발전된 Romantic Ballet를 조명하면서 이 시기의 타 예술과도 비교, 분석을 시도하려함에, Romantic Ballet 최초의 작품인 La Fille Mal Garde´e를 자네트 월프(Janet Wolff)가 방법론으로 제기한 춤에 대한 네가지 분석 방법을 도입, 이를 基底로 삼아 분석해보았다. 결론으로서는, 프랑스 혁명은 정신적, 문화적 측면에서 새로운 세계를 가져왔으며 이러한 정치체제의 변화로 무용예술의 機能은 점점 약화되고 그 의미도 모해해지는 것처럼 보였지만, 실상은 무용이란 끊임없이 實在해왔고 특히, 생각하는 자아를 찾아내기 위하여 존재의 근원과 그 존엄성을 새롭게 確認시켜 주려는 갖가지 노력을 기울여 끝내는 대중의 要望을 만족시켜주는 시민예술로서의 Romantic Ballet를 탄생시켰던 것이다. 또한 최초의 작품인 La Fille Mal Garde´e는 이러한 사회변화에 副應한 작품으로 발레史上 그 작품이 차지해야 할 정당한 地位가 糾明된다고 생각한다.;As a social being, a man becomes conscious of an individual through the relations with others and comes to perceive the age and society with his thoughts and senses through the arts. The dance is the most human art which came into being simultaneously with the emergence of human being on the earth and has been developed in the mobile historical consciousness. In this sense, a historical and social survey of the dance is thought indispensable to grasp the social context of Ballet. In this paper, I studied the society and history reflected in the dance. Acknowledging J. Huizinga's view of man, that is, "Homo Ludens", I surveyed V. Aldrich's artistic, philosophical charactersitics of dance and approached Honor and Hunt's opinion. If we look over the correlationship of the general tendency of society and the view of art, we can say the dance is an artistic form to express systematically the collective mind reflecting the historical consciousness. And surveying the Romantic Ballet developed as a mass culture by the French Revolution, I analysed it comparing with other arts of the same age. I analysed the first Romantic Ballet's piece of work "La Fille Mal Garde´e" with a variation of four analyses of dance. Janet Wolff had suggested as a method of dance analysis. In conclusion, the French Revolution brought things new to this world in mental and cultural aspects and it seems that such a change of the political system made the function and meaning of the dance weak and vague. However, it has existed continuously. And especially to find out the thinking self, every effort to confirm newly the source and dignity of existence was made and at last the Romantic Ballet came into being which were developed as a popular art to be able to meet the taste of people. The first Romantic Ballet's piece of work "La Fille Mal Garde´e" is appropirate to such a social change and it proves to get a reasonable status in the history of Ballet.
