環을 주제로한 자연의 이미지 표현

Abstract

Nature is the creature of God, art is a miniature cosmos created by man. Man expresses his inner world by means of art reflecting his creative will. The concept of nature includes humanbeing, who lives in nature. Art belongs to human world, while it chooses nature as its object. Blazing sun, distant horizon, blue sea, boundless clear sky and space make their images deep in our mind and they are reproduced in art. Also in the art of dyeing, nature provides unlimited varieties of object to be expressed and even abstract forms have their origin in nature. In expressing nature's image existing in our mind, dyeing has a unique effect, not to be found in other moulding fields, which comes from its nature of using dye and fibre. The purpose of this research is to study how to express nature in works of art through understanding moulding characteristics of dyeing, and furthermore, contribute to the advancement of dyeing art through developing new techniques. I have studied nature, art and man's images and their expression based on literature as the oretical background, and expressed nature's image, with emphasis on the sunrise and sunset, finally coming up with 15 pieces of works. Works are composed of the sun, circle, cloud and other natural phenomena, the elements of which are spot, line and circle. In coming up with my works, I used dotting, spreading, and cracking on the cloth of poplin with direct dyeing, since I applied maple-technique using batic. Conclusions obtained through actual production of works are as follows : 1. Nature is the origin of art, every thing in nature provides man with image, and art is images of nature reproduced by man's unique expressive will and creativity. 2. Since uniqueness and diversity in dyeing depend upon selection of material and technique, the artist should choose techniques suitable for expressing his own images. By studying production process intensively, it is possible to fully express image the artist has. 3. As dyeing has a particular nature of expression not possible by other materials, the study of techniques should go in parallel with the study of materials in other to retain the nature, thereby contributing to its advancement. However, there have been a few problems encountered in relation to production. 1. We should be careful in selecting dye and fibre whose quality differs from manufacturer as well as in terms of manufacture time. 2. We can achieve intended expression only by precisely planning and reviewing work schedule in production. 3. Since the scope of expression is limited, the properties of fibre and dye should be thoroughly studied. Through solving such problems as above and study as well as understanding of nature of dyeing art, we can select proper materials and develop technique with success. Development of materials and techniques can be possible only when study of materials and techniques is conducted along with theoretical research.;자연, 인간, 그리고 예술… 자연은 신의 창조물이며, 예술은 인간에 의해 창조되는 소우주이다. 인간은 예술을 통하여 내면을 표현하며, 창조의지를 반영한다. 자연은 인간을 포함하는 개념이며, 인간은 자연 속에서 생활한다. 예술은 인간이 창조하며, 그 대상은 자연이다. 작열하는 태양과 먼 지평선, 푸른 바다, 한 없이 투명한 창공과 스치는 공간의 기억은 우리의 가슴 속에 이미지를 형성하고, 예술로써 표현된다. 염색에 있어서도 자연은 무한한 표현의 대상이며, 추상적인 형태도 근원은 자연에서 비롯된다. 염색은 인간이 가지는 자연의 이미지를 표현함에 있어, 다른 조형분야에서 표현할 수 없는 독특한 효과를 나타내며, 이는 염료와 섬유를 사용하는 재료의 특성에 기인된다. 본 연구는 염색의 조형적 특성을 연구하고 이해함으로써, 자연의 이미지를 작품으로 표현하는 방법의 가능성을 연구하며 새로운 기법의 연구로 염색의 조형적 발전을 도모하고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로 자연과 예술, 인간의 이미지와 표현을 문헌을 통해 연구하였고, 태양의 출몰을 중심으로 한 자연의 이미지를 실제 작품 15점을 제작함으로써 표현하였다. 작품의 표현 대상은 태양, 환(環), 구름(雲) 등의 자연현상으로 점, 선, 원등의 형성요소로 구성하였다. 제작방법은 파라핀을 이용한 납염의 기법을 사용하였으며, 점찍기, 번지기의 효과를 이용하였고 크랙(Crack) 기법을 시도하였다. 그리고 섬유는 80수 포플린과 직접염료를 사용하였다. 작품의 실제 제작을 통해 나타난 결론은 다음과 같다. 1. 자연은 모든 예술의 근원이며, 자연의 온갖 삼라만상에서 인간은 개인적인 이미지를 부여받고, 예술은 인간 특유의 표현의지와 창조력에 의해 자연에서 얻은 내면의 이미지를 형상화한 것이다. 2. 염색은 재료의 선택과 기법의 연구에 의해 독자성과 다양성이 나타나므로, 작가가 가지고 있는 이미지 표현에 적합한 기법을 연구, 모색하여야 하며, 제작과정의 연구에 의해 자신의 이미지를 충분히 표현할 수 있어야 한다. 3. 염색은 다른 분야로는 표현할 수 없는 특성을 지니고 있으며, 그 특성을 살리기 위한 기술과 재료의 연구가 병행하여야 발전의 가능성도 커질수 있다. 그러나 실제 제작상 몇가지 문제점이 발견되었다. 1. 재료 생산이 일률적이지 않으며 섬유나 염료는 생산업체나 생산시기에 따라 조금씩 다르므로 선택에 유의하여야 한다. 2. 제작과정의 작업순서를 정확하게 검토하고 계획하여야 의도한 대로 확실히 표현할 수 있으며, 섬유와 염료의 특성을 충분히 파악하여야 한다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하고 염색의 특성을 연구 이해함으로써, 자신의 이미지를 표현할 수 있는 재료와 기법을 선택하고 개발시킬 수 있다. 이렇게 실제 제작과 연구가 체계적으로 행해질 때 염색조형의 발전은 가능한 것이다.
