우리나라 항공사 여승무원 제복의 새로운 방향 모색

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out the point at issue in the design of Korean aviator's uniform by suggesting an effective model for its uniform. The object of study was restricted to stewardess' uniform of the Korean Air Lines (KAL). An uniform which originated from soldier's uniform in order to distinguish the friendly forces from the enemy ones by means of an unified dress and equipment, has been adopted to a number of other organization for the purpose of indicating official powers externally and securing an impression of unification internally. And so, in the complicated modern society, the necessity of an uniform is increasing now because of a discrimination of some special organization from the others within the massive social organization. In Korea, a civil airplane company was founded for the first time in 1948, which was converted to KAL in 1969 after passing through a government - run airplane corporation. Nowadays, the service problem for the passengers has become an important issue due to the increase of international competitive power between the airplane companies affected by the fast development of aviation industry. In the service problem mentioned above, what makes an great impression on the passengers is an uniform of a crewman, whose beautiful and clear figure will have an direct effect on the image of an airplane company. From such a stand point, numerous problems could be discovered in aviator's uniform of KAL. It could be said that a dark and dull color was mostly used, and that the proportion in a frame of body, the sense of a fashion and the symbolism were deficient. So, from the comparison of KAL uniform with foreign aviator's uniform and the study for the basic principles of custom design, the suggestion could be made as follows. 1. The color used in the design of uniform must be optically stable, exclude the dullness and in activity, and especially be designed as a Lightly one to suit with a type of occupation. 2. The Korean aviator's uniform should be developed to suit with the physical condition of the Korean. Therefore, when selecting the design practically, such items must be considered in connection with a frame of body as the proportion of the length of jacket to that of skirt, the position of the waist line to the total length of dress, the proportion of the width of border trimming to its total area, the size of accessories, and finally the position and the size of yoke or pocket. 3. Although an uniform and other custom must be designed to suit with a frame of body, their design should not be out-of-date by an excess of consideration for a frame of body. The formative aspects which is not insensitive to the sense of the times must be taken into account together with the study of detail for a frame of body. 4. An uniform must represent symbolically the nation, the organization, and the status to which a wearer belongs, and so on. It is important for such an indication of visual transmission not to be misunderstood. Besides, the study for an uniform could involve the functionalism, the economics, the sewing, and so forth in this research, the problem about the aesthetic aspect was chosen as the main subject.;본 연구는 우리나라 항공사의 제복을 조사·분석하여 디자인상의 문제점을 발견해내고 그에 대한 개선 방안을 모색하여 효과적인 제복의 모델(Model)을 제시함으로써 항공사 제복의 질적 향상에 이바지함을 그 목적으로 하며, 연구 대상은 대한 항공사의 여승무원 제복에 국한하였다. 제복은 군인 제복에서 그 유래를 찾아볼 수 있다. 처음에는 적군과의 식별을 목적으로 통일된 의복과 장비를 갖추기 시작하여 후에 여러 종류의 다른 단체에서도 대외적으로는 직권을 표시하고 내부적으로는 일체감을 확보하기 위하여 제복을 착용하였다. 그리고 제복의 필요성은 현대의 대단히 복잡한 사회에서 어떤 특정한 단체를 구분짓기 위하여 더욱 증가하게 되었다. 우리나라의 항공사는 1948년에 민간항공사의 탄생을 시초로 국영 항공 공사를 거쳐 1969년에 민영화되었는데, 오늘날 항공산업의 급속한 발전과 더불어 항공사간의 국제 경쟁력이 증가하게 되자 승객에 대한 서어비스 문제가 중요한 과제로 등장하였다. 이러한 서어비스 과정에서 가장 먼저 강하게 승객에게 보여지는 것이 승무원의 제복이라 할 수 있고, 아름답고 깨끗한 승무원의 모습은 기업의 이미지에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것이다. 이와같은 측면에서 우리나라 항공사 승무원의 제복을 살펴보면 여러 가지 문제점들이 발견된다. 그 문제점으로는 사용된 색상들이 어둡고 침체된 색으로 일관되어 있다는 것과 체형에 따른 비례문제, 유행감각과 상징성의 부족 등을 들 수 있다. 이에 외국 항공사 제복과의 비교·검토, 복식 디자인의 기본 원리에 대한 연구를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 개선 방안을 제시한다. 1. 제복의 디자인에 사용되는 색은 시각적으로 안정감을 주는 색이면서도 침체감이 배제된 색이어야 하고, 특히 직종에 어울리도록 경쾌한 느낌을 주는 색으로 계획되어져야 할 것이다. 2. 우리나라 항공사의 제복은 우리나라 사람의 체형에 적당한 것으로 연구되어져야 한다. 그러므로 실제로 디자인을 선택할 때에는 자켓과 스커트 길이의 비, 옷의 총 길이에 대한 허리선의 위치, 보오더(Border)장식의 폭과 전체 면적과의 비례, 악세서리(Accessory)의 크기, 요크나 포켓의 위치와 크기등을 체형과 연관지어 고려하지 않으며 안된다. 3. 제복이나 그외 모든 복식은 체형에 알맞게 디자인 되어야 하지만 너무 체형을 의식한 나머지 시대에 뒤떨어진 디자인이 되어서는 안된다. 체형을 고려한 여러 가지 디테일(derail)의 연구와 더불어 시대감각에 둔하지 않은 조형적인 면도 아울러 고려되어야 한다. 4. 제복에는 착용자가 속해 있는 나라, 단체, 직위등이 상징적으로 나타나야 한다. 그리고 이러한 시각 전달의 표식이 잘못 해석되지 않도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 5. 항공사의 여승무원들은 직책상 활동량이 많이 요하는 직종으로 특히 기능성을 유의하지 않을 수 없다. 그러므로 의복구성, 소재, 봉재 방법등에 세심한 주의를 기울여야 한다.
