한국 전래동화 그림책의 인물표현 연구

Abstract

예부터 전해오는 이야기를 두고 우리는 전래동화라 한다. 전래동화는 우리의 전통과 문화의식이 바탕이 되어있고, 민족의 삶과 정서가 담겨있으며, 그 민족의 꿈의 세계와 해석이 있는 민족문화로도 볼 수 있는 동화이다. 전래동화에서 그림동화는 일반도서와는 달리 내용을 시각적으로 전달해야 하는 것이고, 문자를 통해서 사물을 이해하기 보다는 시각적인 매체를 통해서 직관적으로 대상을 파악하는 연령층의 어린이에게 있어 그림동화는 어린이가 가보지 못한 세계, 만져보지 못한 물건, 사물의 구조와 형태, 색채 등을 지각케 하여 정신적 발달과 자아개념 형성에 깊은 영향을 주고 있다. 특히 바깥세계에 대한 구체적 지식이 없는 어린이에게 간접체험의 기회를 줌으로써 상상력과 탐구심을 북돋아 줄 수 있는 긍정적 역할을 하고 보다 넓은 세계를 경험하게 하는 기틀을 마련해 주는 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 이러한 그림책의 기능이 효과적으로 발휘될 수 있어야 한다는 점에서 특히, 우리나라 전래동화의 중요성은 크다고 본다. 현대의 어린이들은 복잡한 사회구조 속에서 무수한 정보와 메마른 정서 속에서 자라나는데 우리나라 전래동화에 나타난 지혜와 재치, 해학과 풍자의 멋과 상상력, 권선징악 등은 아동에게 희망과 용기를 주며 우리민족의 삶과 역사를 담고 있는 우리민족의 문화로도 볼 수 있기 때문에 우리 아동들의 정서에 가장 잘 맞는 다고 생각 한다. "가장 한국적인 것이 가장 세계적이다" 라는 말처럼 우리문화에 대한 중요성은 재인식되어야 하며 어린이들의 성장기에 있어 중요한 영향을 미치는 그림동화책에서부터 노력이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 그림동화에서 주인공의 역할은 중요하다. 그림책에서 주인공은 감성, 개성, 성격, 특성이 잘 표현되어야 하며 어린이가 전래 그림동화를 읽고 보는 데에 효과적인 커뮤니케이션이 수단이 되고, 시각적 만족을 주는 역할을 해야 하며 그림책의 역사적 배경과 문화 ,내용, 인물 또는 사물의 성격과 특성을 내포하고 있는 하나의 생명체로서 이야기를 이끌어 나가는 주체이어야 한다. 작품제작에 있어서는 외국 문화에 너무 많이 노출된 어린이들에게 우리 고유의 정체성을 갖게 하고 한국적 자긍심을 심어주어야 할 때 우리 조상들의 생활과 감정에 만들어져 왔고 생활과 풍속, 문화 등 잘 나타나 있는 한국전래동화속의 주인공을 생명력 있는 존재로 여겨지도록 아동들의 동경의 대상이 되며 친구와 같이 친숙하게 느끼면서 꿈과 호기심을 자극하는 캐릭터를 적용하여 한국전래동화속의 주인공들을 캐릭터화하여 컴퓨터 일러스트로 작품을 제작하였다. 제작의 의미는 어린이에게 이미 인식되어진 외국의 그림동화와 주인공보다 우리나라 고유의 정서가 깃든 한국전래동화와 주인공들을 인지시키는데 도움을 주고, 우리나라 전통문화와 우리민족의 삶을 어린이들의 삶에 도움을 주며, 어린이들이 자라나면서 한국인으로서의 정체성을 가지며 소중한 우리나라 전통문화와 우리 민족의 삶의 중요성을 재인식시키는데 의의가 있다. ;Stories handed down from old times are called traditional fairy tales. Traditional fairy tales reflect our traditions and cultural consciousness and contain the people's life and sentiments. They may be regarded as national culture that represents the people's dreams and their interpretation. Different from ordinary books, pictorial fairy tale books convey contents visually. For children who accept things intuitively through visual media rather than understanding through texts, pictorial fairy tales have significant effects on their mental development and the formation of self-concept through showing them other worlds, unexperienced things, the shape, structure and colors of objects, etc. In particular, pictorial fairy tale books give children opportunities for indirection experience of outer worlds, stimulating their imagination and the spirit of inquiry, and lay the foundation for children to experience broader world in the future. In that such functions of pictorial books must be work effectively, the importance of Korean traditional fairy tales is quite significant. Contemporary children are being raised in the flood of information and emotionally barren environment in the complicated social structure. For them, wisdom, wit, humor, satire, imagination, encouraging good and punishing evil, etc. appearing in Korean traditional fairy tales may give hope and courage. Furthermore, fairy tales handed down from ancestors may be regarded as national culture fit for our children's sentiment. As people say, The most Korean is the most international, the importance of our culture should be reconsidered, and such efforts should start from pictorial fairy tale books that have significant effects on growing children. In pictorial fairy tales, the role of main characters is important. Pictorial books must express the sentiment, personality, character and peculiarity of main characters so that they become effective means of communication for children who read and view the books and give them visual satisfaction. Moreover, main characters in pictorial books must play the role of living guiders of the stories, who connote the characteristics of historical background, culture, contents, figures and things. Thus, with the object of helping children, who were too much exposed to foreign culture, to have our original identity and pride in being a Korean, this study created computer illustrations by characterizing main characters in Korean traditional fairy tales by applying characters who are adored and felt friendly by children and stimulate their imagination and curiosity so that children may feel the breath of main characters in Korean traditional fairy tales that represent our ancestors' life, sentiment, custom and culture. The meanings of the creation lie in that the created characters may be helpful for children to understand Korean traditional fair tales and their main characters that contain Korean people's sentiment, that children may experience our traditional culture and life, and that growing children may have identity as Koreans and recognize the importance of our traditional culture and life.
