都市景觀을 素材로 한 陶磁表現

Abstract

陶磁藝術은 實用性이라는 文明의 必要性으로부터 出發하여 오늘날까지 그 役割이 지속되어 오고 있으며, 實用性의 土臺 위에서 民族마다의 精神的 世界를 反影하여 오고 있다. 이에 反하여 現代陶藝는 實用性을 排除, 純粹造形性이 강한 實驗 작품을 시도하고 있는 것이 큰 特徵이다. 本 硏究에서는 陶磁藝術의 始原인 實用性을 전제로 하여 作品을 製作하였으며, 都市景觀을 素材로 하여, 自然的인 環境과 現代的 人工構築物의 相反되는 두가지 要素가 視覺的으로 調和를 이루도록 造形化 作業을 하여 보았다. 形態 제작에 있어서는 물레 成形의 圖筒形과 板組立 方法에 의한 楕圓筒形을 기본형으로 취하였으며 이들의 形態的 制約性에서 오는 單調로움을 벗어나고자 전의 線을 多樣하게 처리하여 變化感을 나타내 도록 시도하였다. 表面의 장식은 얇게 浮彫하거나 象嵌紋, 彫花紋 技法을 活用하여 都市景觀의 이미지(image)를 전달해 보고자 하였다. 本 硏究를 통해 다음과 같은 結論에 도달하게 되었다. 첫째, 陶磁藝術에서는, 技術的 制約이 따르는 釉藥 및 燒成에 관한 끊임없는 硏究 實驗이 앞서야 함을 깨닫게 되었다. 둘째, 實用性이라는 機能的 側面이 전제가 될 때, 主題의 自由스러운 表現이 큰 制限을 받게됨을 알게 되었다. 세째, 본 硏究의 內容을 表現함에 있어, 이를 이루는 山의 具象的 形態와 現代式 建物群의 幾何學的 모습이 서로 相反되는 要素로 표현될 경우, 이 두 要素가 서로 融合되지 못한데서 오는 視覺的인 不調和 현상을 느낀다. 따라서 形態와 紋樣의 문제를 同質化槪念안에서 연구하여 우리 陶磁美의 특질인 자연스런 아름다움을 살린 작품을 하여야 됨을 알게 되었다.;One of the most significant characteristics of modern ceramic art is that they pursue pure forms excluding utility. As in other fields of art, such trend contributes to creation of daring experimental works. However, ceramicware started from the necessity of utility in civilization, and such role has been maintained up to the present times. The works of ceramic art of every nation have reflected its own spiritual world with such utility being contained. The main purpose of this has been how the phases of the modern times could be transformed into works while making use of this long tradition in ceramic art. In this study, I have used the modern cities as the subject matter, and tried to express them in works by simplifying the scenes which display modernistic meaning strongly. Also, I have tried to lyrically express the harmony between cities and the nature surrounding them. In the course of working, I have attempted a new form of cubic expression by composing the clay slab, and tried to mate use of the natural feelings of clay. In search for harmony between forms and patterns and design, I have tried to use our traditional techniques of inlaid pattern, slip decoration by brush painting, design scratching by bamboo knife and relief. Such working methods were found to be very effective in transmitting the image of modern cities symbolically, and suitable for lyric expression. As results obtained through this study, (1) I have foreseen the possibility of finding out diversity of expression by experiencing innumerable test on glazes and study on firing. And I have learned that (2) it was very difficult to express the image of the objects naturally when the utility of the form was essential and that (3) I have to make harmany in one aesthetic concept between the forms and the patterns.
