Assemblage의 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

Ever since collage began as the trend against the traditional media and the devices in the early 20C, modern art con-firmed the freedom and right of formative activities denying the traditional art value, its meaning and its concept about beauty. The extension of formative consciousness brought object art and concurrently assemblage which assembles the objects in the form of collage got to be accepted as a new art. Therefore assemblage has a historical significance in art as a result of pursuit of freedom. The purpose of this study lies in looking into the characteristics of assemblage researching the formative consciousness of assemblage artists and the visual effect of the works. In order to see the characteristics of assemblage, in Chapter 1, I studied the elements which had been the fundamental structure in Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism and Surrealism with priority given to assemblage. Preparing assemblage in depth in chapter 2, in Chapter 3, followed by the previous chapter I looked into Neo-dada and Nouveau-realism of after the 1950's when assemblage appeared in earnest. Then I placed focus on analyzing the characteristics of assemblage in the following chapter. In the last Chapter 4, assemblage fell into four divisions according to the features and I analyzed the eligible artists and their works. To come to a conclusion, I adopted an inductive method. In this study I researched unfolding process of Neo-dada and Nouveau-realism after the 1950's and also studied from Cubism which introduced collage to the world of art, to Surrealism which extended the concept of object as a supporting meaning of assemblage. Not only the research papers but also the assemblage works were the bases of this study. From the above analyzing process, it concluded that assemblage has four characteristics such as emphasis on materials, pursuit of daily affairs, reflection of social living, intervention of fortuitous coincidence and all these characteristics appears in assemblage artists and their works in mixed forms.;국 영문초록 수록;20세기초에 collage가 전통적 매체와 기교를 거부하는 反動의 형세로 열린이래, 현대미술은 전통적인 예술의 가치와 의미, 美에 대한 개념을 부정하고 조형활동의 자유와 권리를 확인, 긍정하였다. 조형의식의 확대는 object미술을 낳았고, 동시에 object를 collage 형식으로 집합시킨 assemblage가 새로운 예술로 받아들여지게 되었다. 따라서 assemblage는 자유추구의 결과로서 미술사적인 의의를 갖는다. 본 연구의 목적은 assemblage작가의 조형의식과 작품의 시각적 효과를 고찰해봄으로써 그 특성을 규명하는데 있다. assemblage의 특성을 규명하기 위하여, Ⅱ장에서는 입체주의, 미래주의, 다다주의, 초현실주의에서 assemblage의 기본적 구조가 된 요인들을 collage를 중심으로 고찰하였고, Ⅲ장에서는 assemblage가 본격적으로 거론되기 시작한 1950년대 이후의 네오다다와 누보레알리즘에 대해 살펴봄으로 Ⅳ장에서 분석할 assemblage의 특징을 類推해 내는 데 주안점을 두었다. Ⅳ장에서는 assemblage를 특성에 따라 네부분으로 구분하고 그 특성에 맞는 작가와 작품을 분석하여 결론에 도달하게 하는 귀납적 방법을 채택했다. 본 연구는 assemblage가 본격적으로 대두된 1950년대 이후의 네오다다와 누보레알리즘을 전개과정으로 보고 collage를 예술의 文脈에 도입한 입체주의에서 object의 개념을 확대시킨 초현실주의까지를 assemblage의 배경적 의미로 보았다. 연구방법으로는 assemblage에 관한 문헌과 작품들을 중심으로 하였다. 이와같은 분석 결과, assemblage는 물질성의 강조, 일상성의 추구, 사회성의 반영, 우연성의 개입이라는 특성을 갖고 있으며, 이러한 특성은 assemblage작가와 작품속에 복합적으로 나타나고 있다는 결론을 얻었다.
