R. 슈만의 「카니발(Carnaval), Op.9」에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review Robert Schumann's 91810-1856) <Carnaval, Op. 9>, one of the works which the researcher had performed for a master degree of music. This study was aimed at not only analyzing the work but also interpret it for better performance and promote people's understanding of it as well as Schumann's music. Schumann may well represent the musicians in the era of romanticism. He demonstrated excellent imagination and creativity for various attempts. For example, he was much affected by literature which he combined with his music. In addition, he published a music magazine titled <Neue Zeitschrift fu¨r Musik> and thereby, tried to find progressive musicians, while writing many essays on music. He did many experiments for his works. Once, he created such virtual figures as florestan and Eusebius to express his dual inside world, or quoted such actual figures as Clara, Ernestine and other contemporary people for his titles or works. In addition, he tried to express his free trait and creative mind in his works, which are very conspicuous in his forms, rhythms and melodies. His compositions were very intricate, while using free and diverse melodies only to reinforce affiliated chords, decreasing chords and other harmonic elements. His <Carnaval, Op. 9> or his model work consists of 20 short pieces showing his musical characteristics well. four sounds or ASCH were derived from the name of a region as well as from his own name. They are expressed in three different sound forms, while serving to integrate the entire work. In this work, diverse themes are highlighted to describe nature and atmosphere of each piece. Moreover, sudden motif signs, pulled sounds, hemiola, diverse rhythms, semi-scale progression. Lastly, it is hoped that this study will help to understand association between music and literature, characteristic short pieces and <Carnaval, Op. 9> at large.;본 논문은 연구자의 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회의 연주곡목 중 슈만(Robert Schumann, 1820-1856)의 「카니발(Carnaval), Op. 9」에 대해 연구한 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 곡에 대한 분석에서 그치지 않고 연주하는데 있어 곡 해석의 깊이를 다하고, 더불어 「카니발(Carnaval), Op. 9」와 슈만, 그의 피아노 음악에 대한 이해를 돕고자 함이다. 슈만은 낭만시대의 음악에 있어서 대표적인 음악가라 할 수 있다. 그는 뛰어난 상상력과 독창성으로 여러 시도를 하였는데, 대표적인 예로 문학에서 많은 영향을 받아 음악에 접목시킨 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 음악신보(Neue Zeitschrift fu¨r Musik)라는 음악잡지를 창간하여 많은 평론으로 진보적인 음악인 발굴 등에도 힘을 기울였다. 그는 작품에 여러 시도를 많이 하였는데, Florestan과 Eusebius라는 가상의 인물을 만들어 자신의 이중적인 내면을 표현하기도 하였고 Clara, Ernestine, 당대의 음악가등 실존인물을 그대로 드러내 표제나 작품에 인용하기도 하였다. 그밖에 그는 자신의 자유로운 기질과 독창성을 작품 안에 표출하고 있는데 이는 형식, 리듬, 선율 등에서 나타나고 있다. 구성에 있어서 슈만은 치밀성을 보여주고 있고 자유롭고 다양한 리듬형태를 사용한 선율에 부속화음, 감화음 등의 화성적 색채감을 더하고 있다. 본 논문인 「카니발(Carnaval), Op. 9」는 이와 같은 그의 특징들이 잘 나타나는 대표적인 작품으로 20개의 짧은 소품들로 이루어져 있다. 4개의 음, 즉 ASCH는 지명이자 자신의 이름의 철자에서 인용한 음형으로 이를 세 개의 다른 음형으로 나타내고 이는 곡 전체를 통일하는 요인이 된다. 이 곡에서는 각 소품들의 성격과 분위기를 묘사하는 다양한 표제들이 돋보이고, 갑작스러운 악상기호, 당김음, 헤미올라, 다양한 리듬, 반음계적 진행 등 슈만 특유의 특징들을 잘 보여주는 만큼, 본 논문을 통해 문학과 음악의 연관성, 성격적 소품과 함께 「카니발(Carnaval), Op. 9」에 대해 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이라 생각한다.
