門 이미지의 도자조형 연구

Abstract

우리는 누구나 일상생활에서 수많은 문(門)을 통과하며 살고 있다. 방문이나 대문을 출입하는 물리적 행위에서부터, 탄생, 입시, 결혼, 죽음 등과 같은 시간상에서의 존재론적 전환기를 통하여 어떤 영역의 세계로 부터 또 다른 세계로 이행(移行)해 나가는 "문의 현상(現象)"을 경험하게 되는 것이다. 사람들은 옛부터 문에 깊은 의미를 부여하며 동과를 할 때 마음가짐을 달리하는 의식(意識)을 연상(聯想)하였다. 이 연상은 새로운 이미지를 불러일으키는 하나의 조형적(造形的) 요소로서 작용하게 되는 것이다. 본 연구는 가시적(可視的)으로 나타나는 공간적 장소성과 통과(通過)의 의미를 가진 문을 하나의 조형언어로서 그 이미지를 형상화(形象化)하고 새로운 이미지로 재해석하는 시도이다. 그러므로 본 연구의 목적은 문 이미지를 조형화함으로써, 실존의 대상으로부터 새로운 형태를 재형성하여 그 대상의 본질적 의미를 찾아보고자 하는 것이다. 이론적 배경으로는 문의 전반적 의미와 정지된 건축물에서 문이 갖는 동적인 움직임을 중요한 조형적 특성으로 보고 이미지에 대한 고찰을 통하여 문 이미지의 조형성에 접근하고자 만다. 또한 다른 문 이미지의 조형작품 사례들을 찾아봄으로써 작품제작에 참고가 되고자 하였다. 작품의 표현방법은 두 세계에서의 분리(分離), 이행(移行), 또 새로운 세계로의 결합(結合)이라는 역설적 개념(槪念)을 가진 문에 시각을 맞추어 그 과정을 시각화 시키는데 중절을 두었다. 작품 1, 2, 3 은 분리, 작품 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 은 이행, 작품 9, 10 은 새로운 세계로의 결합이라는 주제로 그 특징을 살려 기하학적인 형태와 선을 통하여 본 연구자의 시각으로 새롭게 이미지화 하고자 하였다. 작품 제작방법에 있어서는 석고형을 이용한 이장주입기법(泥奬注入技法)과 석고 몰드(mold)를 부분 사용한 압축기법(壓軸技法)으로 하였는데, 이는 문의 움직임을 인간의 시간에 있어서의 존재론적 전환과정과 연결하여 시간의 흐름을 시각화함에 보다 적절한 방법으로써 활용한 것이다. 각 작품의 특성에 따라 태토는 요업개발의 자기토, 밀양백토, 뮬라이트(Mullite)토를 사용하였고 더불어 이장에 소지용 안료를 혼합하거나 상감, 혹은 붓으로 장식적 효과를 내었으며 유약은 분무법과 담금법으로 시유하였다. 그리고 모든 작품은 0.7㎥ 석유가마에서 850℃로 1차소성을 하고 2차소성은 1.5㎥ 가스가마에서 1,240℃로 산화소성하였다. 본 연구자는 문이 갖는 이미지를 주관적인 해석에 의해 시각화 함으로써 건축요소 중 하나를 조형적 소재로서 제시, 발전을 기대하며 가시적인 문을 주관적인 의미와 연결하여 떠오르는 이미지를 새로운 조형 질서를 가지고 독자적인 형태를 발전 시키며, 창조적 이미지를 통해 실제 사물의 본질(本質)을 찾는 예술의 과제에 임해보고자 하였다.;We all face man gates in everyday life. From the physical act of going through a door or the front gate to the ontological transition of birth, marriage or death, the transition from a world to another is experience, and this could be called "the phenomena of the Gate". From the ancient times, people have given meanings to gates and have associated them with some reverentail ceremonies. This association acts as a formative factor of creating new images. In this study the visible gate with its spacial existence, and the meaning of "passage" is reinterpreted by means of image forming through formative language. By doing so, the intrinsic meaning of the object is persued. The theoretical background is to understand general meaning and formative characteristics of the gate, and by contemplation of their images, to approach the formative image of them. Also, other formative work cases of gate were refered to. To express the concept of division, transition fusion into a new world, geometrical figure and lines were used. The works were done by slip casting method using gypsum and compressive modelling method, partially using gypsum mold. The materials were Yo-Up Gae Bal, Mil-Yang and Mullite ceramic soil, and in some cases mixing stains were also used. On the gazing operation step, laying, bruching, spraying and dipping methods were adapted. The task of art is to create new formative order and individual form and to persue the intrinsic nature of an object. In this study this task is carried out by formative image forming of the gate and interpreting and visualizing the visible gate. Now is the time that you tell me what you see in your gate.
