제백석의 전각연구

Abstract

Examining historical documents, we can find that the history of a seal has started with three heavenly given seals to Hwan-Woong (the progenitor of Ancient Korea) in our ancient times. With the beginning of history, it has required a long long time until seals have developed to original formative arts called as a seal engraving in later times. Although it is natural that seal engraving has specific formative quality should have studied in the field of fine arts, most people considered it as some literary man's hobby in our country. So there wasn't more deeper studies. But in Chinese seal engraving has become new field of arts and flourished in the Chung Dynasty as took a growing interest in bibliographical study and metal and stone calligraphy. In Chung Dynasty, Joe, Ji Geum and Oh, Chang Suk have made a comprehensive survey of seal engraving and Je, Beck Suk appeared successively. At last, its culture developed brilliantly. In this thesis, I will consider the developing process of seal engraving in Korea and Chinese through historical examinations. I will also study and analysis Je, Beck Suk's works and suggest the evidence and characteristics of them. Finally, I would like to announce that his seal engraving plays an important part in modern fine arts.;印章의 歷史는 우리나라의 史書를 살펴볼 때, 上古神市時代에 桓雄이 가져왔다는 '天符印 三方說'로부터 비롯되었으며, 이러한 實用的 印章이 後世에 이르러 '篆刻'이라고 불리우는 하나의 獨自的인 造形藝術로 발전되기까지는 歷史의 形成과 더불어 長久한 歲月이 흘렀다. 그러나 獨特한 造形性을 지닌 篆刻이 당연히 藝術領域에서 다루어져 연구되어야 했음에도 불구하고 우리나라에서는 몇몇 文人들의 餘技로서 그쳤을 뿐, 이에 대한 보다 깊은 연구가 없었다. 그러나 中國에서는 淸代에 이르러 考證學과 金石學의 연구가 활발해짐에 따라 篆刻은 새로운 藝術分野로 부각되어 隆盛期를맞이하게 되었다. 淸代의 趙之謙과 吳昌碩은 篆刻을 一大集成하였고, 잇따른 齊白石의 出現은 이 위에 또다시 豊盛한 꽃을 피워 승화시켰던 것이다. 따라서 本 硏究에서는 篆刻藝術의 歷史的인 考察을 통하여 韓國과 中國에서 篆刻藝術이 발전된 과정을 살펴보고, 齊白石의 作品을 標集해서 硏究·分析하여 齊白石 篆刻의 根據와 特性을 理解함으로써 그의 篆刻이 現代藝術의 分野에서 중요한 자리를 차지하고 있음을 알리 고자 한다.
