솟대의 Image를 통한 형태연구

Abstract

한 민족의 생활문화는 그 시대의 민족이 갖게 되는 자연적 조건이나 풍토 생활습관 및 그 민족의 역사, 문화와 더불어 끊임없는 상호교류작용을 하면서 발전하게 된다. 솟대는 우리민족의 조형의식이 민중의 집단의식체적 형태를 빌려 원초적이며 주술적인 상징을 내포하고 있는 한국전래의 신앙적 조형물이다. 따라서 전통적 조형물인 솟대를 현대적인 조형언어로 형상화 한다는 것은 곧 과거 속에서 현재를 조망하는 일이며 우리 민족의 원초적 사고 속에서 인간실존의 가치를 발견하고 생의 근원을 추구하는 일이기도 하다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국전래의 신앙적 조형물인 솟대를 연구하고 그것을 대상으로 하여 새롭게 형상화 시키는 데 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 솟대에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하고 솟대에서 나타나는 수직과 수평적 구조, 공간성을 표현하고 작품분석은 내용과 형식을 종합하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌조사와 작품제작 및 분석을 병행하였고 분석 대상은 7점으로 표현주관에 의하여 나타난 조형관점에 따라 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수직적인 Mass의 방향성은 무한한 상승감과 새로운 공간의 영역을 창출한다. 둘째, Mass의 배열구조는 수평과 수직의 형상으로 나타나고 수평적 구조는 인간의 현실세계, 수직적 구조는 열원과 소망의 이상성을 향한 지향성을 반영한다. 셋째, 수직과 수평적 구조, 직선과 곡선, 거칠음과 매끄러움 등의 대비적 효과는 특성있고 강한 결합체로서 형태에 탄력과 긴장을 주며 전체적인 조화를 유도한다. 넷째, 복합재료를 사용하여 단일재료에서 오는 단순성을 배제하고 질감의 대비에 의한 조형적 효과가 다양하게 나타난다.;As a man being thought to keep in the world of his subconsciousness his need or ideal which shall not be met or realized in his actual life or any disaster which cannot be overpowered with his ability, the manifestation of such a subconsciousness or the expression of his prayer resulting from his sacrificial dependence on or belonging to the creator or the absolute being has been continued through activities of arts. In conclusion, when it is shaped in art, the Sotdae which not simply well reflects the original patterns of our nation but also is one of the traditional religious features in Korea has following images: First, the direction of its vertical mass creates an infinite rising feeling and a new spacial section. Second, the arrangement structure of its mass come to have two patterns, horizontal and vertical. The former reflects the inner world of a man and the latter does a direction toward an ideal which may be eternity or hope. Third, the contrast effects such as vertical and horizontal structures, curve and straight lines, or roughness and smoothness provide elasticity and strain and induce harmony generally as characteristic and strong combination. Four, using mixed materials rules out simplicity resulting from a simple material and produce various plastic effect through the contrast among materials. As such, the form expression of Sotdae through image is the reiteration of vertical pattern and horizontal pattern, which creates new spacial sections, suggests rising direction with its vertical mass, and reflects any mysterious, praying rite of Sotdae.
