한흑구 수필 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 한흑구의 수필론과 수필작품 분석을 통하여 미정립된 한국수필문학이론의 한 방향을 알아보고 그 특유의 문학적 성격 및 수필문학사적 의의를 규명하고자 시도되었다. 한흑구가 1934년 처음 발표한 「수필문학론」은 수필을 창작문학의 하나로 예술적 가치를 가질 것을 주장했다는 점에서 수필의 문학성 부여라는 문제를 일찌기 제기하고 있는 것이며 1960년대의 김덕환이나 1980년대의 정진권의 이론과 그 맥을 같이 하고 있다. 그는 창작으로서의 수필문학의 특성을 주관적, 주제, 시정신의 부여라고 하고 있고 일반산문 (잡기, 속문)과 구별하고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 창작된 그의 수필작품은 내용면에서 삶의 주체로서의 인간, 보편적 자아추구의 淸淨한 인생관, 인간의 유기체로서의 자연, 본향에의 향수를 다루면서 소재선택에서는 사건보다 자연을 선택하여 우의와 상징으로 이야기하고 있다. 이는 수필은 시정신으로 쓰여져야 한다는 그의 수필관을 소재 선택에서도 적용하고 있는 것이다. 형식면에서 그는 단선적 구성, 복선적 구성, 합승적 구성을 취하고 문단의 분철과 英詩의 삽입으로 '한흑구식 구성'이라고 할 수 있는 형식을 만들어 냈다. 문체면에서는 한 문장 안에서의 리듬을 가하면서 문단의 분철을 통한 시적인 문장을 의도하고 있다. 또 언어 사용면에서 우리의 사투리, 의성어, 개인어, 외래어를 사용하여 참신한 비유와 동시에 사투리와 표준말을 병행하는 방법을 꾀하고 있다. 더구나 '주어 없는 문장'과 현재형을 사용하여 사고와 한 순간의 일회성을 보다 극대화하고 선명한 인상을 주도록 하고 있다. 표제에서는 주제를 가장 잘 표현하는 소재를 표제로 선택하였고, 단일 명사형으로 된 표제를 선택하였다. 이러한 점들은 수필은 문학작품으로서 주재를 갖고 시정신에 의하여 쓰여져야 한다는 그의 수필론이 그대로 수필창작에 적용된 것이다. 그의 수필문학사상의 위치는 본격적인 창작문학으로의 수필을 주장하고 수필을 일반 산문과 구분되는 언어예술에 의한 문학의 한 부분으로 인식했다는 점이다.;This study was carried out for purpose of finding out Han Heong-Ku's unique essay theory and his literary style and appraising his position in the history of modern korean Essay by analyzing various aspects of his works in many ways. First of all, he defined essay as a part of the literature genre such as poem, novel and drama and distinguished essay from general prose. He pointed out poem spirit as the basic spirit of literature. According to him, as the essay is a part of literature genre, it must contain the literature substances. The essence of essay literature consists of the internal essence such as imagination, pleasure, universal knowledge and the external essence such as the structure and specific use of language. Secondly, as the subject matter of his essay, he choiced nature rather than event to discribe the philosophy of human life and universe in their beauty and circle. So the contents of his essay are arranged as follows; 1) Human identity as master of life 2) View of human life pursuiting for objective ego 3) Nature as ail organic body with human being 4) Nostalgia for origin home town Thirdly, formation of his essay can be classified as follows to express the theme of his works clearly ; - Dansung style - Boksun style - Seunghwab style He composed of his unique essay formation by inserting poem in his essay. His literary style seems to be close to that of poem and offers distinctive method for clear consideration through the splits of literary passage. He made up poetical essay by using idiolect, direct, unique metaphor and rhythm and by using present tense sentence without subject. Fourthly, as the title of his essay, he used simple noun and material which could show theme of his essay easily. As a conclusion, this thesis estimated his contribution to the history of modern korean essay. Since 1930's, he had written essays in which he emphasized the artistic value and literary value of essay. Through these works, he introducted the new model named "Creative Literary Essay".
