The present study is to clarify the fauna of actiniarians of Korean waters and to provide information to understand the distribution and fauna of Korean actiniarians as a part work for evaluation of Korean invertebrate diversity. The deposited samples have been collected at 75 localities in the coastal areas and islands of Korea from 1962 to 2000. For identification, I examined the external features of whole body, tentacles, oral and aboral disc and column. The internal features of specimens were observed by dissecting specimens and serial section of tissues. As a result, I identified 18 species belonging to 15 genera, eight families and two tribes. Of these, eight species, eight genera, four families and one tribe, Athenaria, are newly recorded. To revaluate the distribution and diversity of Korean actiniarians, total 20 species (17 genera, 10 families, two tribes) including these 18 species and two species identified by Song in 1998 were used. With regard to the number of localities where each species occurred, Anthopleura kurogane occurred at 55 of total 75 localities, Anthopleura midori in 27 localities and HaZipZanelZa Zuciae in 22 localities. These three species are the most common species in Korean waters. The coastal waters in Korea are divided into four regions such as East Sea, Korea Strait, Yellow Sea and Jejudo Is. area on the basis of the species diversity. With regard to the number of species collected in each region, the most species examined (14 species, 70%) are found to distribute in the East Sea in this study. As for the distribution of Korean actiniarians by water form, among 20 Korean actiniarians, temperate water forms are 12 species (60%), tropical water form is 3 species (15%) and cold water flom is 4 species (20%). One species, Halipanella luciae is note worthy as a cosmopolitan species. In the similarity between regions of Korean waters based on the similarity of simultaneously occrurring species, the highest value occurred between Korea Strait and Yellow Sea, and the lowest similarity occurred between East Sea and Jejudo Is. area.-
