George Segal 彫刻의 社會性에 關한 硏究

Abstract

조형예술 창조는 예술가의 개인적인 사상이나 감정 뿐만 아니라 그가 처해 있는 사회환경으로 부터 영향을 받으며 시대나 상황을 반영하고 있다. 현대인의 인간소외의식을 중심소재로 다루고 있는 G. Segal의 조각작품에서 현실의 반영은 소외된 인간의 불안과 고통, 혼란 등을 나타내고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 G. Segal조각에 나타난 사회성을 알아보는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 Ⅱ장에서 이론적 배경으로 예술에 반영된 현대 문명과 사회성, 그리고 작가의 사회적 상황을 개괄하였고, Ⅲ장에서는 작품에 나타난 G. Segal의 사회성을 주제적 분류, 공간구성 , G. Segal의 reality를 통하여 알아보았다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌과 작품을 도구로 이론적 배경은 문헌을 중심으로 하였고, G. Segal조각에 있어서의 사회적 특성에 관한 부분도 문헌을 참고하였다. 작품 표집은 G. Segal 작품 중 사회적 의식을 내포한 59점을 목적표출하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. G. Segal 조각의 사회성을 작품의 주제별로 분류하여 보면, 첫째 일상적 주제, 둘째 정치적 주제, 세째 직업적 주제, 네째 性的 주제, 다섯째 성서적 주제로 구분된다. 또한 그의 사회적 표현은 관객참여적인 공간 구성을 통해 현대인의 정신 상황을 극적이고 상징적으로 나타내어 윤리적인 관점에서 인간 상황을 새롭게 조명하도록 하고 있다. 그리고, G. Segal의 reality는 극히 현실성을 추구하는 것으로, 개인적인 경험에 의한 시적 reality를 나타낸다.;A artist's personal thoughts, feelings and his surroundings are reflected on his creation of formative arts. George Segal who mainly deals with human alienation a main theme deseribes human fear, agony and confusion in the modern society through his artworks. The aim of this thesis is to study on the sociality reflected on his sculptures. The content of this thesis is that the modern civilization, sociality and the artist's social surroundings as theoretical backgrounds are reviewed in chapter Ⅱ, George Segal's sociality reflected on his works in thematic classification, space forming, and his reality in chapter Ⅲ. The methods of this study are literature and works. The logical backgrounds and social eharacteristics of G. Segal's works are also referred to the literature. And 59 works contained his social consciousness are given as samples. The results of this study are as follows: The social expressions of George Segal can be classified in the work theme; ordinary, political, professional, sexual and biblical theme. George Segal depicts the mentality of moderns dramatic and symbolic by forming space that audience can participate and gives a new human situation in a view of ethics. And He seeks the real actuality which shows the poetic reality based on personal experiences.
