제주 석상에 관한 연구

Abstract

濟州의 民俗文化 중 墓所의 童子石은 오랜 역사를 통해 風水思想 및 土俗的 信仰과 함께 전해져 내려오면서 基層文化에서 형성된 石像 이다. 童子石은 제주의 풍토, 기질과 생활문화를 반영하고 있으며, 조형방법과 형태면에서 볼 때 독창성이 있으며 그 시대적 상황에 따른 彫刻樣式과 조형상의 특징도 살필 수 있으므로 本 硏究의 동기가 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 童子石의 형태를 造形的으로 分析하여 濟州·石像의 造形性을 규명하는데 있다. 연구의 내용은 濟州 墓所의 石像 중 童子石에 限하여 形成과 石像에 나타난 宇宙觀 및 機能을 고찰하고 童子石의 형태를 造形的으로 分析하여 그 特性을 연구하였다. 연구의 방법은 문헌과 작품을 기본도구로 하여 現地踏査를 중심으로 한 작품의 조형성 고찰이 그 基調를 이루며 造形性이 비교적 뚜렷하여 造形特性을 밝히기에 용이한 작품 63점을 有意標集하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결론으로 童子石은 頭部를 강조하였고 단순한 형태와 부분에 있어 線刻處理를 하였으며, 좌우대칭 구도 속에서 전체적 부분적으로 과장하고 대담하게 변형하거나 생략하는 조형적 특징을 갖고 있음이 밝혀졌다.;Among the folk cultures in Cheju, Tomb Guard around the graveyard, having been handed down with the Topologism and the local religion through the generations, has become a traditional stone-stature formed in the basic cultures. Grave Guard reflects the climate, the temper and the way of life, of Cheju. It has its own originality with its forms and the method of formation. Therefore, it is worthy to study the stone-statures and their characters representing their produced days. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the distinguished characters of the forms of the stone-stature in Cheju through analyzing and clarifying them. The contents of this thesis are as follow; as far as Tomb Guard, excluding other stone-statures, is concerned, I examine its form, its function and its world view expressed on the stone-stature. I took the works and its references as a basie tools and surveyed the field work as the central method to study the characters of the statures. And I chose 63 pieces of stone-stature which showed the distinctive characters. The results that I have found through this study are: Tomb Guard shows emphasized upper part (especially head), has very simple forms, symmetry structure, and the characters of broad transformation, omission, or exaggerated parts against the whole.
