This work starts from the awareness of the existence of nervousness and pains in human being which people usually do not understand the reason of it. It is hardly allowed for most people to have private time and space in modem age. The people are likely to lose their identities in this situation. I call it loss of sense of existence. This is not a problem to several but to all people in modem era. I think that art has creative power and activities in art would be helpful in curing private suffering and alienation. In end, The purpose of this work is to cure the hurt in their existential hurt. The loss of existential sense is one of the of human alienation phenomenon. It rises from the fact that this civilization urges people to use so much materials and the materialistic trend leads to take individuals for commercial object. Individuals get oriented for material possession rather than spiritual freedom by the trend. Their happiness is estimated by the amount of their possession. People would end up falling into slaves for materials and being forced to live as a cog in a cog wheel. Life with desire for material deprive individuals of spiritual freedom and sense of existence. Furthermore, we can see the phenomenon of loss of existential sense in the alienated classes such as women, homo-sexualities, color, laborers. People in these classes are twice as suffered as the other society members. This life without inner freedom and any moment for self-reflection seems to be insomnious life which never allows persons in this kind of life to be themselves. Individuals lose their identity and become material existence. In order to get out of this situation and become themselves again, they need the break and ceasing. I suggest 'sleeping' and 'imagination' as a means for this break and ceasing. 'Sleeping ' is state of unconsciousness and inactivity. However, the sleeping of unconsciousness and inactivity are necessary for the state of consciousness and activity. The sleeping means ceasing and break in social life. This ceasing and break are helpful in getting rid of all negative elements in life, recharging themselves and regain sense of existence. I suggest 'Cocoon' as the ceasing and break in life and as a kind of healing method for hurt individuals. It is like going into a space for imagination. 'Cocoon' is a channel to another world and a secret place at the same time. 'Cocoon' makes us associate itself with the comfort in a womb of maternity. It also means a private space, house and it's comers. To be in the space means separation from external world and thereby individuals can find their own time and space to face themselves in it. Going into 'Cocoon' is to revivify themselves. It is a kind of transformation into a new and fresh existence in the private secrete space. In this work, I make an attempt to heal existential hurt through 'sleeping' as a ceasing from daily life and a private space for imagination a s a break from external world. Artists who are involved in this issue are German modem artist, Joseph Beuys(1921∼ 1986), who tried to cure society and individuals through symbolic objects that come from his private experiences, Louise Bourgeois( 1911∼), who express his anger against patriarchism and women's status in this society through dismembered bodies and Ernesto Neto(1964∼) and Rosemarie Trockel(1952∼), who require that visitor actively join in their artwork. By the review of their works, I will illuminate a methodology for my work and healing art. While I studied the basic theory for existential healing, I became much interested in human life in this modem society and more sensitive to my inner world. I hope that this article would play an important role in order for me to create better work in the future.;본인의 작품은 이유를 알 수 없는 불안과 고통에서 시작된다.
